Per John Clayton..."To make matters worse, Gibbs and the coaches lost their communication system during the game. They couldn't work the headsets.

"There were issues," Gibbs said. "It's a problem across the league. I don't want to use that as an excuse for what happened to us today. We'll just continue to let the league know what happened to us today, and we'll just have to see how they deal with it."

Hard to beleive this game was at Foxboro. I'm completely shocked.
You realize when that happens the other team (Patriots) are required to turn theirs off. Nice try though. Stop with the Patriots bashing already, it's freaking old.
Read the quote again...this time slowly. You'll get it, eventually. Okay, I'll help you...I've bolded the part you appear to be missing. :lmao:

Can't they just use their cellphones?
At least we're talking about the horror of cheating - a real concern - instead of the horrors of wide margins of victory. :no:The advantage here and for any home team would be that you could prepare in advance to capitalize on the sudden breakdown in radio communications by having your team and staff trained to convert to non-radio communications seamlessly. The problem is, that would implicate a conspiracy of many persons, including players. You think Bledsoe didn't have any incentive to out BB about that when he left NE? What about Deion Branch? If it's really happening on purpose, then everyone else does it to some degree or there is little actual advantage to it. Or else some disgruntled ex-Pat would blow the whistle on it.The spygate stuff was probably blown way out of proportion due to a personal beef between Mangini and BB. Seems like a lot of insiders with a wink and a nod admit that many teams used video to get signals. That's why no one made it a crusade before.

But seriously though, if the comm system goes down, what's to keep the OC from just whipping out his cell phone and calling someone on the sideline? Are cells off-limits on the sideline?

Edit - though this doesn't work for communicating w/ the QB. Doh.

By the way, BB was asked about communications issues during the post-game presser.

He seemed to try to deflect the issue by basically replying that he'd heard there were some issues but there is "a procedure" that the NFL has in place to address that. He didn't say anything about following it.

The reporters didn't seem satisfied with the answer and pressed on - basically asking if the Patriots had turned off their communication, as well, since Washington didn't have theirs.

He answered basically, "No - the officials didn't tell us to."

Not ripping or supporting - just relaying info from the questions he was asked, as it relates to them turning off their communication system when Washington lost theirs.

No - I don't have a link, since I just listened to a small bit of the press conference and I don't know if transcripts are available out on the net somewhere.
While I know this is kind of heresay without a link of the transcript, I find it amusing that not one of the Pat defenders saying one thing about this. This response from BB is EXACTLY why people take such issue with this ###clown. So you know the rules/policies but unless some official comes over and tells you to abide by them, it is not your responsibility?! WTF?!

BB knows the rule, you and the others :loco: don't.

First of all, I think Gibbs is saying it's a problem for visiting teams across the league, which is not good. Second, I believe the NFL needs to take over control and setup of communications equipment. I'm all for homefield advantage, but this actively interferes with a team's ability to internally function during a game. It's not right and the outcome of games shouldn't be affected by this stuff (and no, yesterday's game @ NE wasn't).
Redman Wins! :football:

The main point I wanted to make was communication problems exist in other stadiums at inopportune times like the bears eagles game last week and very few take notice.

The OC to QB communications went out at the end of the eagles bears game last week. The bears had the ball on their 3 yard line and had to score a TD to win the game. They drove the length of the field and scored a TD in less than 3 minutes based on the strength of Brian Griese's play calling.
That's because it doesn't happen repeatedly while playing against a team that has a history of cheating. It may be coincidence but when it continues to happen to one team that the cheating spotlight is on, it's going to seem like more than just coincidence.
Did you guys know that Lloyd's Of London does not charge a higher premium to insure cargo traveling through the Bermuda Triangle? There is actually no disporportionate risk of losing a ship, plane or cargo there despite its popular reputation to the contrary.Let's not jump to conclusions about the Pats' headsets just yet.

If (and I say if because it seems we have whispers at best) teams are having problems at NE more than usual, the NFL owes it to the teams to bring in professionals during the games to track down the source of any interference. If people are intentionally disrupting these communications, ban them from the stadium and prosecute them.

More than that, the NFL needs to get on Motorola to make sure the communications systems are up to par. Other sports (like all racing series I know of), do a lot better with these communications issues. It's not rocket surgery.

Did you know that Loyd's of London does charge a higher premium for planes flying over Gillette Stadium. All that jamming equipment really reeks havoc on a planes instruments. :ptts:

Yes, they are illegal on the sidelines. I believe Jim Mora Jr was fined for using one on the sidelines while coaching the Falcons.

Did the definition of "seem" change?

Wow, I've seen some pretty moronic comments on these boards, but criticizing Belichick for not having the omniscience to know what's happening with the other team's headsets is just plain dumb. Do you think he's a mind reader or something? If the officials didn't tell him that there was a problem with the headset, how the hell would he know to turn his off?
