Not sure if this is the right forum, but will ask anyway. With no 'spread', which of the above teams do you see as the best 'lock' of the week to win outright in week 3? And why?

I like Buffalo and the Pats. The Dolphins were on the road in Arizona (I love picking against east coast teams traveling to the Pacific times zones/ vice versa) and got the their shorts blown off. Now you get the Pats at home after an emotional high win over a decent Jet team on the road. Pennington has faced the Pats many times, and trust me as a Jet fan, his success rate is not very good. Bellicheck demonstrated last week that he is a coach of the highest caliber. The team will be prepared and he knows how to beat Pennington. This should be a bloodbath.Oakland has to travel to the east coast. They are in complete disaray with the coach/ownership issue, their starting DT just got a dwi, and they suck. In my opinion, Buffalo is one of the best teams to pick at home because the weather is SUCH a huge advantage. I usually like to save them for a late season home game against a warm climate team. They are good this year. This game is tough to pass up.Also love the Giants this week.

Eying the Pats & Bills as well. I like the Pats, as not only is one of the better plays this week, but I also don't know how many other games I would pick them in. (And I'm a fan ...)

Really? The same SEA team that just got 33 dropped on them by the 49ers? That is pulling guys off the street to play WR in a pass first offense? That Seattle? Not sure I'd roll with the Seahawks against the local Pop Warner team right now, which now that I think of it, does kinda describe the Rams. Hell, why not?

Sun. 9/28 @ St. Louis Rams Sun. 11/30 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS Sun. 12/7 MIAMI DOLPHINS (Toronto) They always kick the Jets as* in Buffalo also.

Use 'em now. Road games are dicey, and you'd have to wait until late November for the next best option.

I think Atlanta is a sneaky pick this week. I can't see KC winning this week with Thigpen starting on the road over anybody, and the Falcons haven't looked bad this year. They rolled a Lions team that is better than KC and kept up with a really good Tampa team in Tampa.

Those are my 3 exact picks as well. I'd stay far, far away from Seattle. They just aren't a good team right now with all of their injuries and are totally unbackable - especially in a division game (regardless of how badly the Rams have looked.) I think one of either Seattle or San Diego has the potential to lose and knock a bunch of people out of pools this week. I'm a Jets fan so take it for what's worth, but I can see them coming in and giving the Chargers a fight on Monday night - they always play the Chargers well in San Diego and I believe the road team is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings or something to that effect. Something to consider and make sure you stay away from because the Chargers just don't look like the Chargers right now and there are better options out there.Sneaky plays of the week for me are Atlanta and San Francisco. Obviously, these are two teams you'd go out of your way to not back, and even fade if possible - but both these teams, to me, have played better than expected the first two weeks of the season. If there ever were a time to sneak in a team that you previously thought you would never back, but could now save you one of the better teams in the league, this might be the week. Respectively, both teams are playing 2 of the worst teams in the league, and at home no less. Kansas City is in shambles right now and this Falcons team looks like they will be a tough out this year. Detroit managed to get annihilated by Atlanta week 1 on the road. They now travel half way across the country to play their old offensive coordinator, who I'm sure would like nothing more than to embarrass his old team and run up the score a bit.

That's Buffalo's schedule, I think.

Wow, imagine how badly they would have beaten Kansas City if they weren't in "disaray" and didn't suck.

I'm guessing by another 3 TDs? :lmao: you have to admit, they're pretty bad.. and when the head coach (who isn't even on speaking terms with the owner) is asked for an update on the status of his job and he's quoted as saying "i know just as much as you guys".. that sounds like disarray to me..

Haha. As I said in last week's survivor thread, I'm not a fan of taking bad teams just because they are playing another bad team. But man... this Rams team is BAD. And Seattle will be as desperate as desperate gets. Playing at home, not to go 0-3. I think their defense smothers the Rams all day. And the Hawks put up a lot of points against San Fran, even with their depleted WR corps. No reason they can't do the same to St. Loo.

I don't ever pick division games. Too many upsets because the teams know each other too well. Remember, when the Cowboys went 1-15, the 1 win was against the Redskins, who were a playoff team.

So, since I already used the Giants in my big-money pool, I went with Buffalo this week.

I would avoid going with a road team if at all possible this early in the season. Like others have said, I'm taking the Pats -- Miami's pass D is terrible, and I don't know how many more games the Pats are going to be an easy pick.

The only other team I would definitely use is the Giants. I do like Buffalo in a 1 p.m. home game vs. a West Coast team, but I'm just a little unsure of what Oakland might pull out in any given week. Last week was a little tough. But I see a lot of easy weeks ahead.

I've been using the "heavily favored home team vs. a bad non-divisional road team travelling a long way" theory each week so far and it is working. (Week 1: Philly over St. Louis, Week 2: Arizona over Miami)

This week, its the Bills over Oakland. No way that team in shambles comes all the way across the country and beats a very good Bills team at home. I don't know if I trust the Bills a whole lot, but I do in this game.

IN Washington, by the way, with Steve Walsh at QB. If I remember correctly, it may have even been a Sunday night game. 13-3. Crumby game, but it was a win.

I like/took the Bills this week as well.

Buffalo is seriously flying under the radar, even this early in the season, with all of the other AFC East teams drawing all of the attention.

Pats- minus Brady, and all that goes with it.

Jets- All things Favre.

Dolphins- Pennington, Ricky/Ronnie, Ted Ginn, Parcells.

The Bills? Quietly taking care of business thus far. This is a team to watch in the AFC, and could ultimately come out on top in this division.

Good coaching has this team's mind right. There will be no letdown at home against the lowly Raiders and will take care of business.

It's gonna take a "good" team to beat them, especially at home.

This team could very well be undefeated going into their week 6 bye in preparation for hosting the Chargers in week 7.

That will be a big game, right it down.

Too many people like the Bills this week, which is why I'm going with Seattle. I just can't envision any scenario where Linehan beats Holmgren at Qwest with this squad. I don't care who the Seahawks trot out at WR. Sure, the Bills will probably win, but I want to be one of the 5% left standing if they don't.

Even I don't have the sack to take Atlanta this week, even though I think it's a good one. I'm going Buffalo.

Tennessee will win their game by 15-20 points

why is everyone talking about "sneaky picks"?

why would you save teams for later when their QB/main weapons could get hurt and you miss out on using them with confidence

also, QBs get hurt all year long ... so suddenly an average team becomes horrible overnight which opens up plenty of opportunities later to start a team against them that you didn't even consider earlier

Same picks so far. Best of luck.

I was thinking the same thing...........but in the end, went with my boys.

wasn't kansas city at home, after a close call on the road at NE, a 'lock' to beat a team in 'shambles'?

Chargers. They'll easily beat the 9 1/2 spread also.
The same team that couldn't beat a Steve Smith-less Carolina team.Plus, history says it's foolish to bet against Brett Favre on Monday night.
1) No, this SD team has a MASSIVE chip on their shoulder from last week.2) History shows that Favre is 0-0 on MNF with the Jets.FWIW, I absolutely can't stand the Chargers. Just think that this is the week that they smash someone.

That line of thinking worked real well for Indy and SD backers week 1, and Seattle backers week 2. The Chargers may very well win, but at 0-2 and not playing the way many expected them to play, missing Merriman and LT banged up - why wouldn't you look towards much better looking options - especially when the reasoning for the Chargers is "they're going to have a massive chip on their shoulders"?

I'm going with Tenn.

Steelers sacked the Texans 5 times in Week 1. Tenn already showed what they can do against a weak OL in Week 1.

I refuse to go anywhere near Seattle. I know they're heavily favored, but come on.

I considered taking NE, but I'm not sold on Cassell. If he's for real, I'll still be able to pick NE in later weeks when they play another cupcake.

That left Buffalo. My only real concern here is that the Bills could be looking past Oakland and they're not good enough to win if they mail it in this week, but I don't think Jauron will let that happen.

 Another thing to throw out there is that this is the Jets third week in the row prepping for a 3-4 defense with Favre...... And SD without Merriman and more importantly HOW IS JAMMAL WILLIAMS???? Jets have a Pass Rush and some decent secondary play right now... The base defense is shutting down the run up the middle - it'll take screen plays which SD is good at, like NE diod last week with Faulk and Welker...Should be interesting to see each side of the ball.Like last week thought the biggest question marks on the Jets are the Kickers and field position.... That's what lost their game last week.I'm taking the points!!!!!!

Did all of you use up the Giants already or what? They are going to put Palmer in a body bag.
Used the Giants in week 2.Keep wanting to change to the Pats, but I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with Cassel. I'll never forget the game in MIA where they sat Brady to rest him cause they were up big and actually had to bring him back cause Cassel was stinking it up THAT bad. That, and I try to avoid divisional games where possible.

Yep, I would stay away from Seattle and New England. Going with the G-men this week, but Buffalo is a nice second option.
