Yes. It's a construct for TV.
Tribal takes place on a different island than the tribe's base. The players are transported to and from there by boat, during which they are not allowed to talk to each other since there are no cameras to capture what they say.

My DVR flaked out so I missed the first 45 minutes of the show. Why did they do the challenge which resulted in another vote off? In that past I thought the skipped the challenge when someone had to leave because of an injury/medical issue. Really doesn't matter whatever that tribe's name is (haven't fully engaged with this season yet) was awful anyways. Not sure I've seen a group worse as puzzles as them. I really hope season 50 breathes some fresh air into this. I'm not sure how many more episodes I'm giving this lackluster season.

Hope not. He was overly manufactured.
That medical evacuation and discussion was so dumb. The snake didn’t bite him with venom and they knew that.
Emotional stress and dehydration/lack of food? His 3 tribe mates are experiencing the exact same thing so why stop Jake from going back? Because a poisonous snake scratched him? After all the rest/fluids/IVs/Oxygen, Jake was probably in better shape than his buddies.
The only reason I can see was to give Jeff some “excitement” and to create a platform for him to make the challenge seem more meaningful.

If an evacuation happens before the immunity challenge, they still run the challenge and go to tribal. This is what happened during the infamous episode of Kaoh Rong when Caleb almost died.
If an evacuation happens after the immunity challenge, there is no tribal. This is what happened in the first episode of David vs. Goliath, where Pat was injured on the boat ride back from the challenge.

The lack of posts for this season mirrors my lack of interest so far. Pretty boring pre-merge, rumor has it it picks up after that but I have my doubts based on spoilers. I am enjoying Sage though, a breath of fresh air compared to the standard Survivor player these days. Savannah has potential as well, reminds me a bit of an old school villain.

It wasn’t a high bar to clear but yesterday was the best episode of the season so far. I enjoyed the conclusion of the Sage-Shannon storyline.

Glad they flipped to 3 tribes for a little drama/excitement. Emphasis on little.
Sage/Shannon rivalry over where all 3 red turned blue can be irritating. Jawan is kind of a knucklehead, even calling a unanimous vote vs the bottom dweller a 'blindside' at the beginning of the episode. It's not a blindside if everyone, including the lone outcast, knows it's happening.
Somehow Dollar Store Ryan Reynolds survives from the 3v1 scenario.

My wife still loves the show, for me it is losing the appeal I once had for it.
When someone/some team is struggling bad at the start of a challenge that finishes with a puzzle I always tell my wife....they will end up not losing and it happened again Wednesday. They edit it like it is hopeless.
I can`t remember what the early Survivors Tribals were like. Correct me if I am wrong but did they just come in and vote with very little talk? Now Jeff has to talk for 10 minutes before the vote and rat everyone's plans out.

That was the rare tribal where I had no idea who was going home. Really wanted them to stick with the original plan of voting out Rizzo and his idol.

It was weird how quickly things turned from Rizo being the #1 target to Rizo not being a target at all.
This season is one of several that show it’s actually good to go to tribal before merge (but not too often). With the possible exception of Steven, none of the OG Hina appear to have any idea of how to play the game at all.

This was a classic "Prisoner's Dilemma" episode between Sophie and MC. As much as they wanted to partner up and vote Rizzo out, they both were too afraid of being betrayed by the other, which allowed Rizzo to leverage that (along with his immunity idol) to his advantage.

I think that Alex knowing about Kristina’s idol may prove to be a big deal. He could dish to Soph, and Soph would prefer to steal from someone not in her alliance.

I’m shocked Rizo didn’t play his idol. I thought he’d at least fake it more and just say I have to play it and tell the rest of the tribe to vote with you or risk going home.
I had no idea who was going but I think the other 3 just went with MC to make sure they didn’t go home. MC played terribly anyway. So many mistakes that made her an easy choice. Clearly a good amount of editing since they framed some of her mistakes.
Soph is on his side and with the extra vote, they might be able to stay around longer. It’s too bad she didn’t steal it from MC before MC used it. Hard to tell if Christina’s idol will be uncovered soon.

Before the re-direct of the episode, Soph was edited saying she is open to throwing Rizo/Sav under the bus to keep herself around. May still be the case.
Oh, no doubt. If she doesn’t see a way forward and it’s 3 against a solid 6, I wouldn’t blame her. I do think she also knows that if she flips, it does her no good. She’s either 3rd out of the 3 or 7th out of 7. Both being the 3rd person out from now (barring idols, etc.). I think she’s smart enough to think she’d possibly be better off getting Alex on board with her 3, which interestingly enough could bring her news of another idol to steal.
Based on screen time, it wouldn’t shock me if Soph doesn’t somehow pull Christina’s idol into her alliance.

You never watched Thailand or Island of the Idols?
I’ve seen ~75% of the seasons. Island of the Idols was widely panned, so I skipped it. Ditto with Vietnam.

They failed for a third time to vote out Rizzo with an idol in his pocket. Now that 3 person alliance (Rizzo, Savannah and Soph) has 3 advantages that can keep them in power for a while. I kind of like Soph but can't stand Rizzo or Savannah so one of those two is sure to win at this point.

Yep. I keep saying to myself that I think I can tell why her entire office turned on her. For someone so traumatized, she sure doesn’t seem to act traumatized.
Feels like last season where Rizo and Savannah may end up looking awesome when they win (big if) because the show wants to edit it that way. Truth will be that moronic play by Joe let him be played when he just had to ask Shaheen if he had an idol and to check his bag. One simple step and Joe sticks with his 3 and likely wins.
I really don’t look like when people win due to the stupidity of others. The yellow tribe winds easily if they don’t act like their Sophie is a pariah when she’s not voted out. That said, I’m rooting for Rizo, Savannah, Soph and maybe Sophie because the other 4 are weak sauce and collecting blackheads in a jar could be one of the most disgusting things I can imagine a “normal” person doing.
