Survivor Season 49 Premieres September 24th (3 Viewers)

By far the best episode of the season. Is Rizzo extremely annoying and a reflection of his generation? For sure. Is he playing a hell of game? For sure. The stones he has by still not playing his idol has been epic. Might be the latest in the season I've gone without concluding who I want to win.

Solid one. Got to watch with my oldest since he’s home for the holidays. We really enjoyed it but we’re hoping Soph would grab Kristina’s idol. I’m thinking Sage is next because she’s going to blow up. I think the 4 getting Steven and Kristina for 1 vote so they can live another few days should be an easy convincing. Should be some idol hunting by the 4 to keep it out of play.

It’s 4-3 so still a bit soon to pull any internal blind sides. Honestly, I think those 4 might just go to the final 4 or maybe 5 before a blindside. Anything before getting rid of Steven and Sage would probably be too risky. The Sophie’s using the knowledge is power on Rizo when they can pull in Kristina at 5 might be interesting but I forget how long both are good until.

Pretty good Kristina episode.
I liked the idol play(s). One for friendship Kristina on Ryan Reynolds Jr. The faux Rizo to gauge responses on whether to use the real thing. Just had to stand up to get a better vantage point. Still wish they would flush them instead of free passes.

The jury acknowledged the 'extra vote' being used, just weren't sure who did it.

Quite a few advantages are gone now. Just need Soph to take Rizo's idol if the new finder isn't known (or she gets it as well - auto top 5 if so). Or is Rizo's now the only idol for the camp?

Glad Rizo was unofficially eliminated and won't win it all. Fire represents life and his was snuffed out. {insert spooky voodoo sounds here}

If Soph never uses the KIP and makes final tribal, she’ll do a Maryanne-style reveal.

Rizo playing his fake idol instead of his real one has the same effect as Rachel playing her Shot in the Dark on 47. It allowed him to gauge reactions. He could tell from her reaction that Yellow Sophie voted with his alliance, so he didn’t need to play his real idol.

You may find him annoying but he’s playing the game at a much higher level than most of the rest of this cast.
Rizo might be playing his game at a high level, but I think he's blind to some of the threats around him. He and Stephen are the only males left in the game. I can see Savannah proposing that all the women vote together (after Sage and maybe Kristina are gone) and have an all female final 3. Savannah comes across as a Parvati wannabe that uses men in the game to further her agenda and then casts them aside. She bats her eyelashes at Rizo and he does her bidding.
I can't tell if Savannah is aiming for a final 3 of Soph, Sophie and herself or Soph, Kristina and herself because Sophie is too good at challenges.

I can see Savannah thinking she’s Parvati 2.0 but the jury perceiving her as Angelina 2.0.

You can say Rizo has stones, but I think he has horseshoes up his butt. If he was playing the game with other players with even a semblance of strategy, he would have been long gone.

I certainly hope so.

Most of this cast is way too risk averse, which means that Rizo’s idol might as well be a super idol.

I also think part of the issue is that the alliance that formed at the merge vote has too many people in it who don’t share the same goal. Sage is really only concerned with getting Savannah out. She’s been content to let others drive the bus when Savannah has been immune. Jawan liked Rizo and was just as happy to vote with him as with the Hinas/Alex. The OG Hinas never sorted out their differences in the premerge and let those get in the way after the merge.

The Alex vote was particularly egregious. Alex was pivotal to no one’s game and the merge-vote alliance should have taken the shot at Rizo and been willing to accept Alex as collateral damage if Rizo finally played his idol. But they all played scared and Sage and Jawan were willing to take out someone who wanted to work with them.
