Survivor Week Deuce (1 Viewer)

I survived with a bit of a risky call with Miami.

A lot of people are going to want to burn Green Bay this week vs. Buffalo. I'm leaning towards ATL at home over Arizona. I just don't think they lose this game. I really don't think Arizona is any good. Beating St.Louis with a rookie QB doesn't impress me at all.

Thoughts?

Panthers wont lose at home to TB
On the surface, that looks like a pretty good call. However, considering Moore is already batman this season and he's got a rookie backing him up, I'm not willing to take the plunge here.

A quick look over GB's schedule the rest of the year doesn't have any game that stands out as a reason to save them. I'd pick GB and don't look back this early in the year.

Actually, I did assume to some degree that there would be some easy matchups down the road. Maybe not!

GB gets Det two times this year. I like Car at home vs TB or Atl at hm vs Ari

While I give you that Detroit @ GB is a gimmie, it does get a little bit dicier with a divisional roadie for GB minus their starting RB.

This is exactly my strategy. Went Miami week one and going Atlanta week two. Arizona barely beat St. Louis. While Atlanta lost to Pitt, it was on the road. Now it gets to play Arizona, who will be travelling across the country, at home. I think Atlanta bounces back and gets the W. They are favored by 6.5 which outside of SD and GB is the highest favorite this week I believe.

Sounds like you need to pick GB either Week 2 (against Buffalo) or Week 4 (against the Lions). Other possibilities in Week 4 are CAR@NO, ARZ@SD, and CHI@NYG and possibly DEN@TEN and SF@ATL. You'll need to decide if those non-GB possibilities are better than the non-GB choices this week.

NICE JOB!!

Its all about surviving - GB for me this week
It's the obvious pick for sure but I have a bit of the "don't follow the heard" mentality in survivor. More than half of the picks this week will probably be GB and if the unthinkable happens (Buffalo actually wins), I'd be a lot closer to winning it!

and/or your an afterthought for all the people that took the smart pick for this week - my survivor league acrues points scored if you get the W and gives you 0 if you lose the game, but you still move on - so i'll be taking GB this week easy -

:goodposting: I also try to figure out who most people will be picking, then be the contrarian and pray for an upset. It's not happening this week. Why take a team with a smaller chance of winning while everyone else moves on with the Packers? This is a dead week. Gotta look at it as a "bye week" of sorts. Take Green Bay, yawn all afternoon, and get back at it in week 3. Don't try to be the smartest guy in the room on this one.

I guess we should be thankful for a yawn week instead of trying to get cute. I think I'm with you on this one.

I got cute. :bag: LOL.I couldn't do it. I just couldn't do it. There are 300 people left in my pool. My hunch is that 200 of them will take the Packers.

I have three spots and took Minnesota, Dallas and Atlanta.

I know it's EXTREMELY unlikely Buffalo wins, but if the stars align and they somehow win, it will blow this thing wide open. There's almost 8 grand on the line. Gotta take a gamble. Sometimes big favorites lose.

Buffalo can at least play defense. If they get turnovers, run the ball a little and Edwards plays the game of his life... who knows?

What about NYJ @ BUF?

FWIW I went with the Chargers.......I can't see them losing at home to Jacksonville........just my $.02

I could totally see Detroit upsetting some teams later this season.....especially when Stafford comes back. I wouldn't pencil them in as an easy match-up later on in the season.I'm using GB this week after using NY Giants last week.

I hear you when it comes to not picking GB as a strategic play this week. However, I think the thing that sold it for me though was GB's schedule. There aren't too many gimmies along the way at this point for one of the premier teams in the conference. With their RB situation being shaky at best right now, you might want to jump on the train before it derails down the road.

I am one of the few riding with Oakland this week.

I think they are better then they showed last week against TEN and are facing a rookie QB in his first road game and that they finally have some game tape on.

I will definitely be rooting for BUF on Sunday though.

I get your reasoning but it takes some nards to go Oakland just about ever. Good luck there.

I considered being cute this week and not using Green Bay and saving them for what appears on paper to be an even dicier Week 4.

Detroit's annual visit to Lambeau Field has been a lock win for the Packers every year since 1992.

So then I considered the other options that I felt safe with. Noticed that the Seahawks haven't won on the road anywhere other than St. Louis since mid-2007 with the exception of a win in December 2007 against the AJ Feeley-helmed Eagles (when McNabb was injured) and Singletary's first game as the 49ers head coach during the start of their disastrous 2008 campaign (they had lost 4 straight prior to the Seattle game). Figured I would be plenty safe going with the Broncos this week at home.

But then I looked back over at Week 4 and saw Seattle @ St. Louis on the menu.

The Seahawks haven't lost to the Rams in St. Louis since 2004.

So yeah, I'm thinking I'll go with Green Bay this week after all. If you're really feeling ballsy, you could go Denver this week and Seattle two weeks later.

Be careful going against a home team (St. Louis) when they are playing a team that really isn't that good. I think Bradford is going to great down the road and will show flashes of greatness in the short term. Against a team like the Seahawks, he might just do that. For week 4, I'd be more comfortable with New Orleans at home against Carolina or Tennesee at home against Denver.
