Hope I didn't screw this up. After reading the TJ to KC thread

I thought this was needed.

This is carries NOT touches-for 2010 only. We all know JC will get the rec's

I voted 55% for Charles... ya with catches of course its much higher... but the goalline touches should keep TJ up there. I dunno, I just don't think TJ is there to ride too much pine.

Charles is too good to take off the field. I think Jones is limited to GL duties and giving Jamaal a breather. I think Charles will still be worth it because he'll bust those long TD's

IMO if both backs are healthy it's Charles, and it's not close.
signedCharles owner?Love these guys who emphatically claim there is no debate, but there is debate here. Thomas Jones has been quieting owners for 2-3 years now.I see Charles having bigger runs but fewer carries and losing touches near the goalline.

IMO you don't understand what IMO means.

TJones was brought in no doubt to LIGHTEN Charles workload. WIthout TJOnes and no real decent backup, Charles would have gotten 270-280 carries like CJ3 first year (~17.5 per game). Noone really thouht KC would give Charles 300 carries in 2010 right?

With Jones in, he should now get 14-15 per game, 225-240 carries in 16 games, which nowadays are more the norm. Charles value will be in the receiving game (for PPR at least) as he should get 45-60 receptions.

Haley was never convinced that Charles could be the guy. He was trying to find reasons to give him less opportunities last season. "Charles didn't gain 7 yards on every carry"... "so we're going to go with Kolby for this one." That's not a legit quote obviously but I just don't feel he ever appreciated Charles ability. I see Charles holding it down between the 20's and Jones being the redzone back. 60/40 Charles.

I said 70/30 Charles. I still don't know what to make of JC's long term value, but he's younger and more dynamic than Jones. I expect him to be the primary rusher here. Jones will lessen his workload, keep him fresh, and provide insurance against injury.

I also went with Jamaal Charles 70% Thomas Jones 30%- I see this as more of a Ray Rice/Willis McGahee type backfield. Thomas Jones will get the "tough" yardage situations (2< to go for first downs) and goal line carries, Jamaal Charles will get a lot of the carries between the 20's, 3rd and long, and most of the receptions out of the backfield.

I see some other teams that might utilize this type of backfield set-up: Felix Jones/Barber (and a sprinkling of Choice), McCoy/Weaver (or maybe same plug/play vet), and maybe the Giants if they give Bradshaw a larger role A.Bradshaw/B.Jacobs .

This.Jones' legs are getting heavy and even though his numbers have been so good - actually great - he's benefited from one of the 3 best O-lines in the league.Jones is there to spell Charles.I hope Jones' big resume scares Charles down to the late 2nd rd in my league. If I *don't* get Charles in my draft I will watch and hope that TJ rolls a 14-68-1 type of game in week 1 -- causing the Charles-owner to panic, then I'll swoop in and trade someone like Marion Barber or Ryan Grant for Charles...in a heartbeat.

Couldn't wait. Is it now closer to 50/50? Just a smoke screen?

I think we see that Jones had a great situation but still gets 40%.

In one of my leagues a buddy has Jones and I have Charles and he just emailed me saying Jones was named the starter. Has that been announced?

It doesn't matter who is the starter, only that JC gets his 15-20 touches per game. The points will show up in the box score.

jones has been listed as the starter for weeks now.Haley is the epitome of stupidity in the NFL... Jones will not get more carries than Charles if Haley expects a job at seasons end

70/30 Charles when it is all said and done.

But even if it ends up 60/40. The damage that Charles will inflict with his 60% will be pretty eye opening.

I am more bullish on Charles making the leap to elite RB1 this year than any other back.

It's not so much what T. Jones brings to the table to limit J. Charles, but what KC plans to do with Dexter McCluster. I have to figure he will get about about 5 carries a game and get several receptions JC would have got.

So what happens next year? Same thing with more McCluster?
I don't get why people keep expecting McCluster to get more carries. McCluster is like Charles, except Charles is better in every facet of running the football. McCluster will get his gadget runs and maybe a few odd runs from the I-formation, but I struggle to see him taking carries away from Charles/Jones next year or any year in the future.
