Takeo Spikes (1 Viewer)

I would have thought he would have been signed by now. Are his injuries that serious? Is there a chance no team would actually sign him?

SF was looking at him pre-draft, and post-draft Nolan commented that its still 50/50 on him.

Sounds contract related.

Any update about his contract issues? I heard he was going to Lions.
The Lions brought him in for a look a couple weeks ago, as far as I know, not sure if a contract was offered, or they couldn't come to terms.

Spikes may be a Niner soon.

The 49ers have released Moore, coach Mike Nolan announced this morning. Although the 49ers have not reached a contract agreement with Spikes, Nolan said the veteran linebacker is scheduled to arrive in Santa Clara later today for a physical.

Lions could miss out on Spikes

According to Detroit Lions president Matt Millen, the team has put its best offer on the table and now they're just waiting to hear back from free agent linebacker Takeo Spikes. Head coach Rod Marinelli has said repeatedly that he would like to get Spikes in camp and put him at strong side linebacker.

Spikes, though, is reportedly on his way to San Francisco to take a physical. The 49ers offered Spikes a one-year, $1.5 million contract last month but he turned it down. It isn't known if the 49ers have increased their offer and that's why Spikes is taking a physical.

The Lions, who have been in contact with Spikes in the last two days, are just waiting for Spikes to determine where he wants to play.

is he worth a late round? in tackle heavy
In tackle heavy I have him at about LB55, so depending on how many teams and how many starters anything from a weak LB2 (32 teams 3 LB starters) to bye week filler/injury WW pick up (12 teams 2 LB starters).

Will Takeo hurt some of Willis's production or will this help him even more? Ulbrich mentioned that he liked taking on the blockers to free up Willis so hopefully Takeo will do the same.

I did a search and thought this thread deserved a bump after two very strong weeks by Takeo. What are the prevailing thoughts now? Is Spikes worth a pickup as a starter or just a bye week fill-in?

On week 4 Takeo Spikes took the starting job from Jeff Ulbrich. After that, he's had two great weeks in a row. I think this would be the week you would want to steal him off the waivers.
