Targeting McNabb (1 Viewer)

I love McNabb's value this year. He is a fantasy monster when healthy. I watched him at training camp last week and he looks fantastic. I know he may not be around when the season ends, but I think he can get me to the playoffs. So, the question is what strategy do you use if you're targeting McNabb as your #1. Do you immediately back him up with a Romo/Kitna/Young type? Or do you wait for the later rounds and a guy like Losman or Cutler? I'm leaning toward a Romo type. Thoughts?

In my experience you could wait a couple rounds and at least one of the guys you name would still be there. There are a lot of VY haters.

Kitna goes later than I would have expected too. Maybe some people really thought Stanton had a shot--I wonder if his ADP has been creeping up lately. I haven't checked.

$30 RTSports draft I Got McNabb @3.11(probably too soon)

then grabbed Hasselbeck @8.2. McNabb was the 7th QB taken, Hass the 9th.

Young, Kitna, Romo, all sound like good choices.

I didn't draft a third QB. Garcia and T Green were not drafted.

I have McNabb signed in a keeper league for 3 years. I am personally looking at JP Losman or Matt Hasselbeck if he is available. I think that Matt is the better option due to an easier schedule but JP should do in a pinch. Kitna, to me, is a wild card. Dude has shown a serious attitude towards throwing picks. He is definitely a high risk/high reward guy. The weapons are there if he is able to take advantage of them.

Just grab Feeley very late in the draft and you are all set with the exception of one bye week. Look what Garcia did in that offensive system. As bad as Feeley may sound or appear, he'll put up points on that team when/if he ever had to start. Simple as that. I'm targeting McNabb in all my drafts.

Just had my first draft, grabbed McNabb around pick #60, backed him up with Roethleisberger around pick #80..

I'm jealous. Personally, I think that Benny is a nice return. I just don't think that I'll be able to get him.

I did a 14 team mock draft yesterday. I got Rex Grossman in about round 11. Pick McNabb and then pair him with Grossman late. Rex was feast or famine last year, but in his feast games he was huge!

I expect less famine games this year also. :goodposting:

I think this is the correct choice. Feeley played great in week 17 last year, and played pretty well in his last stint with the Eagles (going 4-1 down the stretch). There was some discussion of this on the FBG blog:

Depends on your roster limits. If you can only roster 2QBs than this obviously won't work. Nonetheless it seems that most aren't concerned enough to pay steep price for a quality backup.

Delhomme would be good. Most forget he was a top-10 QB not too long ago.
i've thought about this, too. obstacle i see is him adjusting to the new offense. then again, if you're using him to back up mcnabb, he's got half a season until mcnabb (potentially) goes down to find a groove.

I like Big Ben this year. He is going very late. New offense will air it out more, good weapons with Ward, Holmes, Miller, and FWP. Last year has to be written off due to all the off-season problems. I have said it since day 1, he was the best QB available in that draft and I believe he will prove it again this year.

I've also been pairing him with Grossman and then securing the position by using my last pick on Feely.
