What DB ranking would you give him??? Maybe a DB3 with some upside if he is a SS there??

I think the coaches are OK with Reggie Nelson and Crocker for the most part, but the depth at safety looks even worse than we already thought this preseason. I have no idea what's up with Wilson, but he isn't playing again. Sands looks completely lost at all times out there. Murray and Miles have been pretty bad as well and really should be special teamers. I know that doesn't answer your question about Mays' immediate value, but I think the Bengals are simply looking at it as going from 2 NFL caliber safeties to 3. Whether he can beat out either starter is yet to be seen.

Pretty obvious Taylor Mays will never be an NFL starter just like the previous USC safety (Darnell Bing? who was really a Linebacker in disguise, drafted mid round by the Raiders and then later released. USC apparently can get away with safeties who are really used to crash down in run support or head hunt WRs coming across the middle rather than cover and turn their hips.
