Taylor Price (1 Viewer)

I'm curious as to what the Shark Pool's opinion is on Price. He seemed to be having a good camp, then got hurt before Week 1. I haven't heard anything on him since.

With Brady slinging the ball around, and Ochocinco looking less than impressive, will Price end up being a factor this year? Ochocinco can't be making Belichick and Brady too happy - hasn't done anything on the field, and the drop of the sure TD against the Bills that turned out to be the difference isn't the kind of thing that will endear him to his teammates.

Are the NE homers hearing anything? Is he a sneaky waiver pick up for later in the year?

Parcells likes Taylor Price

Aug 15, 2011

Count Bill Parcells among those jumping on the Taylor Price bandwagon.

Parcells, now working as an ESPN analyst, said that Price's performance in the Patriots' preseason opener caught his eye. Parcells then reflected on doing some scouting on Price for the 2010 draft.

"The guy I noticed the most is Taylor Price, a second-year player drafted last year out of Ohio U. I did a lot of work on this guy myself," Parcells said on ESPN's "NFL Countdown" show on Monday night. "He has good speed, he has real good toughness. He was a little green coming out of school but he's a good cold-weather player. I think you're going to see this guy do a lot of big things for the Patriots."

Pretty well any WR on the Patriots has value. But barring an injury to a WR, I don't think Price is going to get much of an opportunity this year. Ochocinco's lack of success is getting over blown in the media imo due to Bruschi's comments; I really don't think Price is going to take over Ochocinco's spot if Ochocinco is still healthy.

But if either Ocho Cinco or Branch go down, Price should have a good chance of taking over either of their roles. If Wes Welker goes down, I think Edelman gets his.

In 12 team redraft leagues, I wouldn't add him unless one of the scenarios that Time Kibitzer mentioned actual occur (Ocho is injured, Hernandez is injured, Branch is injured).

As much as I would love to see Ocho take a seat on the bench at this point and have Price on the field, I don't see it happening outside of injury. However, there was talk that Price would have seen the field against the Bills if he was not injured himself on Sunday (hammy, I believe) - so if Hernandez is out this Sunday and Price is good to go, I have a feeling they'll get him on the field for some 4 or 5 WR sets (probably the latter).

But, he I wouldn't hold my breath on him breaking out anytime soon.

I doubt Price will do much this year. He's not going to push Welker/Branch/Gronk/Hernandez off the field. His best bet is to take over for Slater as the occasional deep threat. So he might be the 6th option after Ocho and the other guys, with some home run capability. I suspect they will try extra hard to make things work with Ocho, so Price might actually be more behind the 8 ball. Maybe he plays the role that Stallworth did, but even Dante struggled to rank in the Top 50 for NE. Unless he gets to be higher on the receiver pecking order, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Count me as someone who thinks he will supplant Chad if (and it's a big if) he can stay healthy...it's been three games and Chad not only looks lost but he appears to have zero confidence...Price has some legit talent and size and in the few times he has been on the field in his very short career he has looked good...the Pats really need a young WR to step up for them now and for the future and I really believe Price has a legit chance to be that guy...all that being said he has minimal fantasy value as Welker, Branch, Gronk and Hernandez wlll all be over him in the pecking order this year...his best value is as a stash in a Dynasty league for 2012 and beyond...

OchoCinco is 33 years old and missed 11 of his last 48 starts for Cincinnati.Branch is 32 and missed a lot of time with Seattle as well. Welker is 30 and has been pretty consistently healthy. I don't think Price is worth a pickup in redraft, but in dynasty, he's behind 3 guys that are 30+ and 2 of the 3 have missed time in the last few years due to injuries. Just seems like he's got a pretty legit shot at getting some playing time this year.

Do you guys think Taylor Price is a good dynasty stash ??

Just curious on what your guys thoughts are. I mean as of now there isn't much of a need for him when they have Welker, Branch and Gronk and Hernandez. But his time could be soon if there is injury or maybe next year don't you guys think??

he's likely going to take Branch's place eventually. Has shown some talent. Who knows if he'll ever get consistent targets since those young TE's are only getting better

this thread ends with a decent summary of why he is worth holding onto- http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=614435&st=0&p=13598299&hl=taylor%20price&fromsearch=1entry13598299
From what I hear (and I don't know much about him), I hear he is a good player, but I am not sure he will necessarily get his chance to shine in NE. The Pats have done nothing to show they will wait on developing their own WRs and with the TEs (as you pointed out) and Welker and Branch not showing signs of slowing down, I can't see why they won't replace Ocho (as I am guessing he will be gone) in 2012 with another street FA or trade for a vet?

bump.

I understand opportunities might be limited with the Patriots operating primarily out of the 2 TE set these days and Welker/Brach likely locked in as starters. But, Price is healthy now, right? Seems like he could potentially provide more help to the offense than 85 is.

How long is it before they give him a shot and end the Ochocinco experiment in Boston?

Guys just saw this on my online Twitter account. I follow Mike Reiss beat writer for the Patriots. Since I have Taylor Price and Shane Vereen in my 32 team dynasty league as stashes on my bench. I try and follow what Reiss says because he is in the know. Here is his tweet from just a few mins ago.

@MikeReiss (This is his twitter account)

Biggest takeaway from conference call with offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien: Team wants to get WR Taylor Price more playing time.

(So if your in a 16 team or larger dynasty league and you haven't added him. Now is probably the time to add him for cheap because later this year or next it will be more difficult to add him for cheap or at all.)

Just trying to help my fellow FBG's out.

Here is another tweet Reiss just sent.

Opinion: Different possibilities to get Price involved. In 2 WR set, probably cuts into Branch's time. In 3 WR set, probably over Ocho.

Specifically for redraft leagues, I still don't think this will mean much production for Price. More playing time does not necessarily translate into many targets and actual opportunities. If he starts playing 10-15 plays a game and gets 2-3 targets, that probably will leave him as fantasy waiver wire material. He still would fall after Welker, Gronkowski, Hernandez, Branch, and potentially now Faulk in the receiving pecking order. If Price took all of Ocho's snaps, that still isn't a lot of playing time.

If he's a legit deep threat, he wouldn't need a lot of targets to make an impact though. Seems like something this team is currently missing.

IMO, Price will become Brandon Tate II this year. Occasional deep threat but overall not really fantasy relevant. He will be the guy they try to go over the top with once or twice a game and maybe get a WR screen to and see if he can beat a CB one on one in the flat.Like Ridley, be prepared for him to have one solid game and then people will pimp him as the next Randy Moss and suggest he will have 10 TD the rest of the way. I suppose he is a decent stash in redraft leagues with deep rosters on the chance that he gets steady production.

I kinda agree with this except I believe Price has a higher ceiling then Tate did. Price will be a hot pickup after he breaks for a long TD but won't be consistent enough for fantasy purposes. I do see him becoming more involved in the offense in the second half of the season. With Edelman's possible legal issues Price could become target #4 after Welker, TEs, and Branch.

as a dynasty owner of Price, I just want to see him get a chance to play to try and determine if he's a potential starter in the future. Aren't Welker and Branch both headed for free agency after this season?

Both their contracts are up. I doubt they let Welker get to free agency (worse case they franchise him). Branch might be allowed to walk, but he might realize his best place to play is NE and take a short term, low dollar contract. My concern for Price is that the Pats have been less than stellar in their WR evaluation and drafting. Bethel Johnson, Tate, and Chad Jackson were all epic fails.

In my estimation the Off Cord for the Pats want to get Taylor Price more involved because he brings an element to there game they have been missing. If Price can capatilize on that Price could look to get more involved. Thats how I see it. From what I've seen in the way of Tweets from last weeks game Brady missed Price on an open route because he was getting pressured and he slighlty overthrew Price. He only got like 5 to 6 snaps I think last week. I guess we will see what happens.

Patriots' Price eyes long look

By Monique Walker

Globe Staff / November 4, 2011

FOXBOROUGH - The injuries have healed. He has learned the plays. Wide receiver Taylor Price is ready to be more involved in the Patriots’ offense.

Earlier this week, offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien said the time has come to get Price more reps.

Yesterday, the second-year player said he is ready for the challenge.

“I’m excited to get on the field more,’’ Price said. “It’s never a good situation to stand on the sideline and watch your team play. You always want to be in the game and be in those close games and go into battle with your teammates.

The Patriots were held to a season-low 198 passing yards in the 25-17 loss against the Steelers and any tweak to the offense may be welcomed. Earlier this week, O’Brien said Price has been progressing.

“He’s practiced well. We need to get him in there more,’’ O’Brien said. “He’s done a good job in practice. He’s a guy that we have to give him some more reps in the games.’’

Apparently the Patriots were blowing smoke up all our butts about Taylor Price. As a 32 team Dynasty owner I'm tempted to drop him. I mean seriously. Ocho Cinco is inactive and Underwood is getting more reps then Taylor Price. This is just sad. :wall:

Wow- what a bust (at least to this point). He must be pretty bad if he couldn't get a sniff even with the likes of Chad Ochostinko or Underwood....

I really think Taylor Price is still talented. But the Patriots have a very specific system. And if they don't feel you fit that system then they cut you loose. Price should find a home relatively soon I think.

:goodposting:I have absolutely no idea where I heard this, so I can't provide any sources for validation purposes, but supposedly Price was in the same boat as Ochocinco in regards to having a really difficult time learning the playbook. Price is very talented and will make some team in need of a fast WR with deep threat potential happy.
