4 observations from Chiefs training camp practice

We do have some accounts on some surprise standouts from today’s practice, however. Herbie Teope of the Kansas City Star came away impressed with second-year WR Jody Fortson, who is working with the second-team offense. According to Teope, Fortson came away with two “exceptional” receptions. One, in particular, was a deep throw down the sideline from second-string QB Chad Henne and Fortson caught it one-handed, over the defender in coverage.

Fortson impressed late last season, particularly in the fourth preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. It’s good to see him continuing to grow and get better in his second season with the team.

As for the team, Patrick Mahomes was excellent today, particularly during the 7-on-7 periods.

On 1-on-1 drills, the best matchup is between Travis Kelce & Tyrann Mathieu.

And Jody Fortson — yes, you can start the hype train — had another strong day.

Jody Fortson has a depth chart to climb with Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson, and Byron Pringle ahead of him; however, if he can keep stringing strong practices together - who knows where he could end up?

Draftscout says he ran a 4.84 forty at his pro day, and expected him to transition from WR to TE. His jumps were better, with a 34" vert and 10'7" broad.

He wasnt available on RTsports either, had every owner in the league scratching their heads when I drafted him. Most where like who???

Shot in the dark and since I hit on most of my draft picks, had no issue taking him with my final draft pick.
