Report: Saints re-sign TE JohnsonNEW ORLEANS (TICKER) —The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a one-year contract with tight end Eric Johnson, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported Tuesday on its web site.Financial terms of the deal, yet to be announced by the team, were not disclosed.Johnson played 14 games for the Saints last season, catching 48 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns.“I just want to be more of a playmaker this year,” Johnson told the newspaper. “Something I’ve always done in the past is catch every ball that’s thrown to me, and there were some times I didn’t do that last season. It’s something I haven’t really dealt with.”After spending his first six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, the 28-year-old Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Saints last March. He became expendable after the 49ers drafted tight end Vernon Davis in the first round of the 2006 draft. The Saints certainly have depth at the position - the team re-signed veteran backup Billy Miller last week, and former starter Mark Campbell is is ready to return after missing last season with a back injury.
