TE Rob Gronkowski (2 Viewers)

Still 3-0 with Gronk, but it's been a challenge. Traded away Jordan Cameron after week one, and playing the rent a TE game since. (Maybe shoulda hung on to Cameron, ya think?)

Celek's goose egg nearly cost me last week. This week I grabbed Clay off waivers, but had 2nd thoughts and picked up and started Jordan Reed. His 10 points aren't exciting, but they did the trick. I can't wait for the return of Gronk and I can shed some dead weight TE's from my roster.

 
2-1 with terrible TE selection.

Sudfeld - 0 pts

Week 2

Winslow - 1.6 pts

Week 3

Fleener - 1.3 pts

Really don't know how much longer I can skate.

in the 1-2 league, i have gersham. Had allen but then he got hurt. Im in 5th overall for total points. So if I could get him back this week, it would be really big.

in the 0-3 its witten (got him late 5th) but he really hasnt done anything outside of week 1,

and the other im 2-0 with one guy pending.. i have graham. and plan on flexing gronk.

With Olsen on bye, I'm forced to start Gronk and risk a goosegg. Don't have the roster spot this week for another TE. I think he will play, though.

 
1-1, hopefully 2-1 after tonight. Sudfeld doughnut hurt week one. Didn't start a D this week so I could start Clay at TE. Ugh. Might still survive that mess thx to Josh Gordon, but my opponent has a chance if his players go off tonight.

I still believe in my Gronk+ draft strategy. I just majorly whiffed on the "+" part. Should be okay if I can survive long enough for Gronk and Roddy to get healthy.

This board can be hilarious sometimes.
Go back and look at this thread from around mid- to late-August when most of us were drafting. The consensus was that he'd miss about 4 weeks and, given that assumption, most on here considered his ADP of late-4th/early-5th round a steal. So far he's missed 3 weeks. Let's say he doesn't play next Sunday, either. How does that very same assumption becoming reality turn the pick from a steal into a dud?

Do you think if it was ever likely for him to play in September that he'd have been available for you at the 50th pick or for 8% of your auction budget in the first place?

Whether the Gronk pick winds up being a steal or a dud at season's end will have a lot less to do with the number of weeks he misses up front, and a lot more to do with whether he puts up TE2- or TE10-level performance after he does return. I think closer to the former - though obviously, if I thought the latter, I never would have drafted him to begin with.

Oof. You're right. Sudfeld is a free agent in my league and I'd imagine he's available in most leagues. I'm going to wait it out until we have a clear picture of what's going on. If we're getting feelers by the end of week saying that he's 50/50, then I'm going to grab Sudfeld and if Gronk is ruled out at gametime, then I'll take my chances. Otherwise, if it's clear Gronk isn't going to play, then I'll hit the waivers on Sunday morning.

Bottom line, Cook is droppable to me. The Rams offense is a big bag of poo and I'm tired of waiting for Jared Cook.

IIRC he's been doing core strengthening stuff for maybe two months now. I doubt he's been able to lift heavy weights for as long. That last bit about strength would make sense if so. Not really concerning IMO.

coming off an offseason with about a half dozen of surgeries and your not concerned?

 
If the concern is the forearm and not the back, I'm not concerned an iota about Gronk when he finally takes the field. If it was a recurring back issue, I'd be worried. But sounds like he's just getting his football strength back. Once they finally clear him, Gronk Nation will once again dominate all. :moneybag:

The Patriots are 3-0 and can afford to hold Gronkowski out until he's absolutely 100 percent. He clearly isn't yet. PFT passes along speculation that Gronk's back is no longer the "primary impediment," but his several-times-infected forearm may still be. The Patriots will likely still list Gronkowski as "limited" in Friday's practice and "questionable" on the injury report, but fantasy owners can't count on him in a Sunday night game. Find an alternative.

We're not sure what to think at this point; Profootballtalk.com reported Thursday Gronkowski was unlikely to face the Falcons, while beat writers throughout the week have operated as if Amendola needs one more week off. "As of today, they are playing," the source told the Globe. "But a lot of time between now and Sunday night." We hope to get some clarity on the situation Saturday, when injury-report players are often downgraded to out if they don't make the trip. Sunday night's game against the Falcons will be in the Georgia Dome.

Been starting Celek, time to start it up Gronk.

With the Pats 3-0, it is not helping the situation. If they were losing, they'd feel pressed to play him. When you're winning, everything is relaxed, sure go ahead and sit out, get healthy, come back when you can.

 
I don't think them being 3-0 is going to influence it at all. They need to be better on O and they are playing the best O they have faced yet. If gronk is ready he will play.

Of course he'll play if he's ready, but it's a fine line, especially when you've been out this long. There's no light that turns green like my phone when it's fully charged and you know it's fully ready.

Being 3-0 gives them a little wiggle room in my opinion to sit him if there is any doubt.

For example, if this game this week was for the playoffs, he would play. But it is not, it's week 4 in a long season and they are 3-0, not 0-3. Yes, this is a tougher team but one that just lost to Miami.

I believe all of this goes into the decision making process in bringing him back. Things are comfortable in NE right now, he will play if he's ready like you say but not until then because they are not in desperation mode like they would be at 1-2 playing Atlanta. The good news is when he does finally play, he should be feeling good because of the reasons I've mentioned and I would expect a rusty but decent game out of Gronk in his season debut, whenever that is.

 
I`m not buying into the wiggle room idea. It's not in the Patriots nature to play for anything except first place in the AFC. They would look at as if they were fortunate to have gotten through the schedule undermanned and 3~0 which only means they are tied with Denver for home field. If Gronk Amendola are good enough to play, they will.

I just don't see things as comfortable in new england, suggesting that they have wiggle room at this point of the season seems far fetched. It would be different if riddley and vereen and amandola and hernandez were on the field tearing it up, then no matter what their record, they would have wiggle room.

So how's that 4th round pick working for you guys banking on this dude to take you to the homeland ?

By the time this Gronk makes a serious impact .... half of his owners will already be out of the playoffs

heck in their division the Fins are 3-0 and the Jets are 2-1....there's a lot of football to be played and every single game counts. If guys are ready, they will play.

should work out great. I'm 2-1 with most points scored...Gronk will be the icing on top.

Wow, I guess you must be the week 3 league champ at 3-0. My league has 11 more regular season games to play. Considering most leagues had SJAX, MJD, Ridley, and Roddy White going in round 2 and don't have the rosiest of outlooks, I'd say Gronk in the 4th or later is a bargain.

Obviously, you are attempting to be a bit of a jackwagon. I can appreciate that. But, yes, Gronk owners are sweating the pick a bit, especiallly now that the Boston Herald is reporting that he and the Pats disagree on when he should return. We all knew the pick was a gamble. I am still hoping it pays off, but it ain't like my whole fantasy season hinges on it. I feel fortunate that I have had no first-three-round busts this year. Those seem to be rampant.

Oh, and since you are dying to know: I am starting Scott Chandler at TE this week. Gronk is riding the pine no matter what until this situation clears up.

The Boston Herald reports there is a "disagreement" between the Patriots and Rob Gronkowski's (questionable, back/arm) camp on whether he is ready to play in football games.

Per the Herald's Jeff Howe, the Patriots "believe Gronkowski is healthy enough" to make his season debut Sunday night. Meanwhile, Gronk and his agent are "wary about returning too soon," especially after he returned early from a fractured forearm last year, only to re-break it in the playoffs. The "divide" has reportedly been ongoing since training camp, when the Pats thought Gronkowski could be back by Week 2, while Gronk's camp "was eyeing a target date closer to Week 6." We tentatively expect some clarification on Gronk's availability by tonight, when the Patriots announce which "questionable" players have made the trip to Atlanta.

That was the gamble all along. I got him in the 5th rd, I already had my QB, RB1, WR1, WR2 at that point. At 2-1 I'm fine with him sitting one more week. If I win this week then all is good. If I loose I'll still be 2-2. Much rather he stay out till he is 110% then come back early and risk a re-injury.

If he's back week five I'm laughing either way :yes:

I read this too... Since not being put on the PUP list, this is the first time I'm concerned.

At this stage if Gronk still doesn't feel healthy enough to go & he is in disagreement with the Pats, then when will he go? I mean the Pats will never provide us with any real info, so it's just speculation.... Technically he could be out for another month, even two... Who knows. Highly concerning!

Who are the "camps" being talked about here? Team's doctors vs Gronk's' doctors? Coaches vs agent? BB vs mother Gronk? Some combination of all or part of those?

I can't imagine Gronk not playing if BB was convinced he was ready to go by the medical folks involved. So, I'm guessing Gronk's doctors have some reservations and the team's doctors don't.

At any rate, no Gronk and no Amendola this week is going to spell trouble for the Pats.

In baseball ARod got a second opinion from his personal doctor regarding his hip, which if memory serves correct was a violation of the collective bargaining agreements???I mean, I assume the NFL has something similar in their CBA where the employer has their own highly qualified medical team more then capable of making decisions/assessments and taking an opinion outside of the team is a violation?... I believe this is more Gronk and his agent, but who the F knows at this point. Regardless, if he doesn't feel he is ready to go, or doesn't want to go - well we have a problem.

Completely agree with the need for concern at this point.

The Chargers team doctor quit due to fallout from malpractice suits. Not all of them are perfect, and no one could blame Gronk for seeking a 2nd opinion if he had one. I think this particular issue is just Gronk making the call on his own.

 
It's rather comical people are planning their lineups around Gronks 1st game back.

Lemme save you the trouble. Just pretend he isn't even on your roster until he actually plays in a game.

I will be utterly amazed if he puts up GRONK numbers in his first game back.

The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance against the New England Patriots asking for team doctor Thomas Gill to step down, according to multiple sources.

The grievance, which was filed over the past month, stems from an original grievance filed by the Patriots against defensive lineman Jonathan Fanene in which the team looked to recoup some or all of Fanene's $3.85 million signing bonus after releasing him in August with a "failure to disclose physical condition" designation.

In preparing for Fanene's hearing, two sources said that the NFLPA discovered information it believes may show Gill wasn't acting in the best interest of Fanene. The information, according to sources, was an email correspondence with Patriots executives.

A hearing on the grievance involving Gill isn't expected to be heard for at least one month, per sources, but the Fanene hearing was held Monday and Tuesday at Gillette Stadium, with the NFLPA representing Fanene.

The NFLPA, which filed the grievance against the Patriots independently of Fanene, declined comment because grievance proceedings are confidential.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick spoke highly of Gill, who is also the team physician for the Boston Bruins and previously for the Boston Red Sox, when serving as the keynote speaker at a May 9 sports medicine conference co-chaired by Gill.

"From a coach's perspective, in building a championship team, there is nothing more important really than your medical staff," Belichick said that day. "The overall operation of that group, relative to keeping our players healthy and on the field, is a huge aspect of the organization. … There is nothing more important to a coach than a healthy team."

 
I guess I didn't realize Gronk and NE aren't on the same side. I don't know how both sides aren't working together on this situation, seems really weird.

Guess I'll see him when I see him.
