Teachers Convicted of Racketeering (1 Viewer)

I doubt they'll even see close to 20 years.

But I do definitely support some jail time. They essentially stole money.

Meh, how much did they steal? I don't think the bonuses were their primary motivations. The teachers were clearly being pressured from above to do this.
170+ teachers were originally caught in the scandal. i believe the superintendent as well. the overwhelming majority of the teachers took plea deals. the superintendent died so she didn't go to trial. were the 20 or so remaining actually teachers? could they have been mid-level administrators? regardless, it seems likely by the superintendent's involvement that this was a district administrator mandate.

I believe that they were a mix of teachers and administrators.

Isn't this where somebody says "It's George W. Bush's fault because he pushed for No Child Left Behind and that is all about TEST...TEST...TEST. Without that, these teachers would all have these students reading Shakespeare and W.E.B. DuBois in 3rd grade, and there would be no need to cheat. Oh yeah, and teachers need to be paid more too!"

Obviously, it is exactly when someone says it.

If the same efforts went into teaching that went into cheating, the cheating would not be necessary.
Not defend these morons but not really.
I agree that any teacher who has to teach in a very low income area is going to have problems, but that is the nature of the job and it needs to be overcome by teachers. More schoolwork and less twerking should be the school motto.
