Out of curiosity, why that time frame?

ETA: Averaging 12-4 over 5 years is pretty impressive.

What's the best 5 year stretch (Super Bowl era)?

No real reason, other than someone I was debating yesterday was talking about how likely or unlikely a team could sustain success over a 5-year stretch. Given the results, it appears that it's sounds easy but inpractical reality it is pretty difficult. Only 5 teams averaged 10 full wins a year which is generally the threshold of making the playoffs.

As far as I can tell, there are two answers to this one. The early 70s Dolphins went 57-12-1 (.821) over a 5 year stretch (but played in only 14 games a season). The mid 80s Bears went 62-17 (missing a game in the strike season) for .785 winning percentage. There may be other stretches where teams had a higher winning percentage, but probably not in the Super Bowl era (at least from what I could quickly tell).
