Teams that can win the Super Bowl (1 Viewer)

I think there are 7 teams with a legitimate shot...In order of my odds to win it:Pats 6-1Steelers 8-1Chargers 9-1Colts 10-1Bears 15-1Saints 20-1Eagles 20-1
Colts at 10-1? I thought you said there was no way they win anything with Dungy as head coach. Or are you assuming that the colts will fire Dungy and find someone better that will take them to the Super Bowl?

Running game and defense wins, in the regular season, playoffs, SB. Teams that can do both have a shot and for those reasons I think SD and Chicago have a decent shot at the SB. Rivers doesn't need to carry the team he needs to manage the game. He has the best RB and best TE in the game at his disposal and they have one of the best run stopping defenses in the game.Chicago has a shot because they will have a top defense and should have a decent running game. They most assuredly win their division and once you are in the playoffs anything can happen.
My preseason picks are looking good....

I think they have a chance only because they will probably have HFA again. If they get there, anything can happen. If they win it, it will be in spite of Dungy. I hope Dungy took notes of the conservative playcalling that cost the Cards the game last night.Probably not though!

Teams with a chance:

Miami - Lots of weapons, decent defense...dark horse but you never know

New England - As long as they have Brady and Bellichek they have a chance

Baltimore - McNair gives Billick a QB to work with, long shot, but not impossible

Cincinnati - Tons of talent, tough HC

Pittsburgh - No need to explain this one.

Colts - Can't blow home field again

Jaguars - On the bubble, but tough Defense and Offense could be potent.

Panthers - NFC favorite

Seahawks - NFC favorite 1-A

Giants - Unlikely, but possible

Bucs - Simms must emerge

Cowboys - Parcells is the only reason they make this list

Teams with no shot:

Bears - No QB, no chance. Don't care how good the D is.

Broncos - Do you see Plummer winning it all? Me neither.

Falcons - Too soft on defense, Vick too unreliable

Eagles - No running game, no real WR threats, aging defense.

Vikings - No weapons on offense. None.

Saints - They are the Saints...'nuff said

Chargers - First year starting QB with zero experience
Three potentials from my list are eliminated, with the Cowboys dying fast. Teams with no shot list has been shortened to those with good records, but they pretty much have the same issues as I stated before the season and that is why they have no chance.Colts, Patriots, Ravens and Jaguars appear to be the most likely champs at the halfway mark.

From my initial post. Steelers and Bucs are off the list. Nothing has changed to make me think any other team not initially listed is a threat win it all. Both Grossman and Rivers showed this weekend that they can't get it done. If the Bears or Chargers play against a defense that can stop the run, they'll lose.

I have a hard time buying any of this when I see

Miami at the top

They did beat Pittsburgh and Denver, 10 and 12 against the run respectively - but that probably doesn't count. So the Chargers really have a worse chance than Jacksonville, the Giants, the Bengals, the Dolphins, the Seahawks and the Panthers?Really? I mean, some of those aren't even going to make the playoffs which makes it tough to win the Superbowl.

I posted this back in August prior to the season. The order of the teams is not their ranking.

I've thought of this post a few times and would have bumped it for you. I think you were pretty close, all things considered. I'm not sure it was THAT controversial, but it was an interesting idea to do before the season. I think the Chargers and Bears are still not in the top 5-7 shots to win a Superbowl despite their regular season success, and Denver's sliding out of contention. Most of these picks are panning out pretty well.

Some of the teams listed with a legitimate shot will not even make the playoffs, while some listed as having no chance will make the post-season. However, temas make the playoffs each year that won't advance, so post-season play is not a criteria. This list is based on teams that have enough talent/experience/coaching to hoist the trophy.

There you have it. Only twelve teams have a legitimate shot, the list will be whittled down as the season progresses, too.
There you go. Hopefully I didn't spoil the season for you when I posted this back in August.

way to go H.K you only chose 12 teams that may win the superbowl.

your prognostication skills are great! (and one of those was the bucs :goodposting: )
