Tebow Owners (1 Viewer)

Tebow is scary any week. I don't know what makes this week any different. His style of play is so unorthodox that nobody feels comfortable playing him, but somehow he gets the job done. Just look at his game against the Lions. He had a terrible real life game, but somehow put up ok (not good) numbers.
As soon as everyone stops worrying about how he got the pts and just enjoying the pts....then you will have less hand wringing about starting him.....its fantasy folks...score pts thats all that matters

I have Stafford and Tebow. I will be starting Stafford, but I am making my decision solely on my opponent and I think its something you should consider too.My opponent this week has an all or nothing type team who I have outgunned on paper. I think the approach to beating him is taking the conservative approach in case most of his guys hit for him this week. If you need max points possible because you don't think you'll win then go with Tebow.
Wouldn't the conservative approach be to take the guy who has averaged basically 10 points a game on rushing stats alone vs the guy going on the road to play a team that just held Vick to under 10 fantasy points in his own stadium? Matt Moore - 21 points against the Chiefs at ArrowheadMike Vick - 9 points against Bears at Lincoln Financial I think Tebow is the play by a considerable amount.

I'm surprised by all the people in here with Stafford and Tebow. I'm in the same boat and I can't decide. I'm a Lions fan and typically higher on Stafford's fantasy outlook than most but I have a bad feeling about the Chicago game. He connected on a deep ball against them last time around but for the most part was held in check.

Chicago is playing very well right now, they're at home, they're pissed, and their defense just smacked around the Eagles on the road. Without Best going they're going to try and play back and force Stafford into check-downs like Atlanta and San Fran did. Unlike Denver they have the personnel to do it. Couple hundred yards and one TD could be in the cards. He'll need to find the endzone twice to have even a decent day.

For me, the issue with Tebow, like someone else mentioned, is if he gets pulled at some point in the game....but he seems to be a solid fantasy option otherwise. I've got Rivers against the Raiders and am mulling whether to start him or Tebow this week. Of course, Rivers plays tommorrow night so I have to make an early call. I'm starting to lean Tebow, wouldn't mind some input here though.
If they didn't pull him two weeks ago vs. the Lions, I can't envision a scenario in which they would.

I've also got a Stafford/Tebow combination and I've been planning to start Stafford all week. FBG has me seriously rethinking this one and now I'm leaning toward Tebow.

I'm startin Tebow over Fitz and not thinkin hard about it. The KC defense has had a couple solid games and also some horrible performances.Either way Tebow is gonna get his. All this guy does is score ff points. NFL.com projected him to score 9 pts last week and Fitz to score 25.Fitz put up 19 and Tebow 29. They were wrong as usual. With the options I got, which are Fitz and waiver guys, I'm startin Tebow untill the end of the season or till he gets pulled, whichever comes first. If I had Stafford I may insert him in a real favorable matchup over Tebow, but otherwise its Tebow here on out.

WARNING: I totally think out loud during my response and I just go with it for my post. I'm just going with it because so many are in this position and I want to see if this parallels your thought process. That is true. I guess I'm just afraid of a Miami game where it doesn't get turned around in the final minutes. But then, they've changed their offense some since then. But then, the Chiefs can watch what worked against the Raiders and plan accordingly, but then it is the Chiefs D were talking about here. But KC plays Denver hard at home... I think I could go back and forth forever on this one.Playing Tebow against the Lions instead of Stafford cost me $20 because I took 2nd in highest points instead of 1st for the week. So even though he scored a respectable 15 pts to Staffords 30, he might as well of had a negative point game. I think if I remove that sting I start Tebow with certainty this week. How funny I type that first before this comes to mind: But then again not starting Tebow the week before that cost me a win and even though my gut said to start him, I didn't feel as sore about it as I did the next week. I have come to realize something about Tebow...Tebow manages to trigger an emotion in me that makes me react irrational, fear. I felt no fear starting Stafford over Tebow the week it cost me a win. But I felt fear during the Lions game, like how stupid and embarrassing it was that I started him, where it cost me the $20. Sure Tebow gets points, but the way he goes about it is something I just havn't really seen before so it makes me feel other options are safer, like Stafford, even though on paper his matchup is not pretty.Your response totally opened my eyes to what my fear would not let me see. How odd, I think I will be starting Tebow over Stafford this week.

I'd also remind everyone how much the Chi defense is improving and the game is at soldier field. I think anyone starting Stafford over Tebow this week may regret it.

starting him over Romo.... i like to live dangerously
That's the decision I'm mulling over, and I've got Palmer in the mix as well. Right now I'm going with Romo. With my leagues scoring Buffalo ranks highest against QB's at #14, San Diego comes in at #18 and KC at #22 with only a 1.4ppg spread--but Romo playing at home I think should tip the scales over both those matchups on hostile turf. Haven't looked at home and away numbers though.I think the determining factor is how close you feel you matchup with your opponent this week. If it looks like a close game then Romo seems to be the more consistent play with the higher floor but the lowest ceiling of the three. Not really enough on Palmer yet to know. All three games could develop into shootouts.

LOL--got me thinking some more...KC's best gamea against QB's were weeks 3, 7 & 8--both home and away against Rivers, and then Palmer's first game of the year at Oakland. Two of their three highest points allowed were home games, vs Fitzpatrick and Moore (the third at Detroit). Home field advantage just might not be their determining factor.

I'm going to go with a whole new set of considerations. My opponent this week is always throwing curves at our league. His Last two picks in the draft this year were his two QB's in a limited roster. Heck--his first pick ever years ago during the stud RB days was this crazy rookie WR named Moss. Time to toss a breaking pitch of my own back at him. Tebow it is.

:coffee:

same here. also starting tebow over Freeman in another league. Even in his worst game Tebow still somehow put up good fantasy points. He was awesome last year fantasy-wise in his few starts. I would agree he has a lower floor than most top ten QBs, but I think he is a much higher bet to score 20+, making him a top 5 start this week.

I'm a Tebow owner, and I think #4 is too high. I agree that KC will play much better D than last week. They also have a week to prepare for the read-option defense, which the Raiders didn't have. I do think Tebow's still a QB1 this week, but I'd rank him around the 8-10 range myself. For example, I know Eli and Brady have some tough defenses this week themselves, but I think they still have a higher floor than Tebow.
The Chiefs defenders won't have seen a read option offense since college, if ever. It takes more than 1 week to prepare for it. A lot of option defense is counter to normal defensive instincts. Defending the option is so much about staying home and stringing the play out. We'll see if the Chiefs can resist being over-aggressive, but given how different the philosophy behind defending the option is from the typical NFL style defense, I'm skeptical the Chiefs will be successful against it. Of course the criticism is always that NFL players are too skilled and athletic to be beat by the option, but I think the NFL is just so bogged down by group think that it's never really been tested in the modern era. If Fox is to be believed, and the fighting Tebows really do run a full on college style read option, then it will be a really interesting experiment to watch. I'm excited. Starting Tebow over Rivers.

Starting Tebow over Stafford, though the confidence in Stafford over Tebow in the thread may cause me to reconsider.

I love the back and forth on this topic. It is immensely helpful to read everyone's viewpoints. I now have Tebow in over Romo. My opponent for week 10 has rodgers vs minny so I think only tebows cieling can come remotely close to that.

Starting him over Cam.
seriously..
I have this decision in another league, and Cam will get the nod. So I guess my combined take is Cam (unbenchable), Tebow, Brady.
I've got this same exact issue... 2 QB league I got Brady, Cam and Tebow. Sidenote - got Peyton on IR.The projections show that Cam and Tebow should outscore Brady but it is Tom Brady which makes it hard for me to start Tebow over him. I think Cam gets the nod regardless as one of the 2, the Titans D hasn't looked good recently. But I will be going back and forth until noon on Sunday. I just hope if I go with Brady over Tebow. Tebow doesn't go off for a bunch of points, cause it is gonna be a long afternoon waiting on Brady to play Sunday night!

I thought that game got moved from the primetime slot.

Starting Tebow over Ryan, but only because my opponent had Bush and D. Moore last night. I need the higher ceiling.

I'm starting Tebow over Brady... yes I said it. I know Brady is a stud and all, but he's looked a bit out of it this year and I like Tebows chances of running all over the chiefs.

If he can add 100 passing yards, he's done me well.

Sort of tempted to start him over Brees
Now that's a little far fetched. Brees should shred the Falcons secondary. I'm a homer and will be at the game on the 40 to witness this.I can only hope Ryan is ready for a shootout.

Tebow should have as high of a floor as any QB not named Rodgers. He's never scored less than 15 points. That's good enough for me.

I'm rolling with Tebow over Rivers the rest of the year and am loving his playoff schedule of CHI, NE, BUF.

Tebow didn't light the world on fire today but put up 20 in my league.Anyone see Staffords #s in the first half? Put up a whopping 6 points. I started Tebow over Fitz and am happy with that decision.

Started Tebow over Romo and not so happy. los out on 10 pts of scoring in a critical matchup. Turns out that KC is SO bad that Denver didnt even have to pass to win the game! grrrr
