Tebow Skit on SNL.... (1 Viewer)

I like Tebow and was prepared to be offended by this skit. It was very funny and well done.

I thought the skit was very lazy. Disappointing from a comedic point of view, they just rehashed played out stereotypes.

The guy playing Tebow. :lmao:
Was it just me or did he look a hell of a lot more like Cutler than Tebow? As a comedy connoisseur and a guy who is actually neither pro-Tebow or anti-Tebow, I must say that this was a very average SNL skit. It was a little funny, but did not elicit any sort of external laugh. I don't regret watching it, but these people claiming it as one of the best SNL skits in a long time have no business assessing comedy. As someone who is absolutely no political correctness expert, I did not find that one comment by "Addai" anti-semitic. Based on people's reaction to that and to how funny they think this skit is, I think we have an overreaction epidemic on our hands here in the shark pool. Wait, what am I saying? Overreaction is the lifeblood of the shark pool...

Wow. Yeah, you sound like a comedy connoisseur alright.

This is funnier than the skit. And Jesus's eyerolls at Timmy's eagerness to please him was the only part of the skit that made me laugh. Otherwise, meh.

One of the better skits SNL has done since Sarah Palin. These jesus freaks who are offended really need to take a chill pill. Here in America, you have the right to believe in any invisible man you want and the rest of us have the right to laugh at you. Freedom at it's core.

What's funny is these loons are now trying to mix the "the media hates Tebow because he is Christian" stuff with their ongoing "the media is at war with Christmas" nonsense! If you don't like the skit, DON'T WATCH IT. Better yet, read the Bible instead of watching TV but please don't push your delusions on to everyone else.

And that is all I have to say about that.

Comedy Connoisseur? You do understand that people can laugh at what they think is funny, and don't need to check with an "expert" first, right? In other words, comedy is subjective...what makes people laugh is a function of various things, including their own personal mental outlook, experiences, etc. Typically, I find when someone flatly says, "not funny at all," they are usually posing as someone who is too "sophisticated" to laugh when other "lower order" people laugh at something. So people thought it was funny...let them have fun laughing at the skit. Why try to act superior about it?

but you get to push your beliefs onto everyone and no one is allowed to be offended by it; got it.

Amen (pun intended). Some of my best laughs come laughing at my 5 year old laughing about fart jokes.

Honestly, I was hoping it would be funnier. The "what if Jesus came into the Broncos locker room" premise is great; I just don't think they did much with it. The audience didn't seem to love it, either.

SNL has a lot of great ideas that they just let hang without writing funny stuff to go along with it. That's why the songs are so popular. You get a funny idea and put together clever lyrics and it's memorable.

I don't find this sketch memorable except for the idea. But it's cool if people love it.

So The 700 Club is getting in on this skit... Really? Can't we all just get along and laugh every now and then - even if it's at yourself once in a while? Link here: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/tim-tebow-saturday-night-live-skit-pat-robertson-calls-it-anti-christian-bigotry-122011

Pat Robertson, televangelist and a leader in the Christian Right movement, has blasted the "Saturday Night Live" parody that featured Jesus visiting NFL star Tim Tebow in the locker room.

"There's an anti-Christian bigotry that is just disgusting and I think 'Saturday Night Live' did a parody of that, had Jesus come in," Robertson said Monday on "The 700 Club," that airs on the Christian Broadcasting Network.

"If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that, and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off!" he added.

"SNL" cast member Jason Sudeikis played Jesus in the skit, who chastised Tebow for being too religious and encouraging him to work on his athletic ability.

"The Holy Bible is my playbook," Tebow, played by comedian Taran Killam, says in the sketch that aired Saturday.

"That's great," replies Jesus, played by Sudeikis. "But you need to read the regular playbook. Seriously, okay? I'm doing all the work here."

Robertson praised Tebow for being "an example, and I think he is a wonderful human being."

"We need more religious faith in our society. We're losing our moral compass in our nation and this man has been placed in a unique position and I applaud him. God bless him," he added.

The very religious Tebow has become one of the most polarizing players in NFL history this season. Before Sunday's 41-23 loss to New England, the Broncos had won six games in a row — mostly in thrilling fashion — by relying on Tebow's running ability and a minimal passing attack.

Notice that Pat didn't have anything to say about the Broncos game this weekend - just sayin'...

:goodposting: Who is the one going the extra mile to push their beliefs/delusions here?
One side is marginally offended the other side criticizes the first side as "stupid" for being offended; care to guess who's going the extra mile?

Was just watching the show NBC Sports Talk on Versus. After they wrapped up with Herm Edwards, one anchor asked the other who they liked out of the NFC. When she would not commit, she stated "... I'll leave it to the football gods." First anchor responds, "OK, well then Tebow will handle it." Never gets old.

Saw it but really didn't find it that funny. As time goes on I'm becoming more impressed with Tebow both on and off the field.

Tebow fan here. He seems sincere, plays whole heartedly, and really drawing attention (=ratings) to the NFL. Mostly rides my bench though in favor of Romo.

SNL fan here though they've lost their luster over the last 30 years and I don't get to watch much. Love the skit though I'm not a comedy connoisseur.

I'm pretty sure :goodposting: meant I agreed with your first reply. I was just adding my :2cents: beyond what you typed.

Worthy of watching and somewhat clever... but SNL has been dead for years.

Jesus' chill attitude made the skit. Tebow looked more like Cutler for sure.

Yeah, I want to know more about that HUGE sig of yours. What round did you get those guys? What did you eat on draft day?
