Just doesn't have the ring of Ochostinko.Did no one get the title of the thread? Maybe some don't know what dropping a deuce means.
I knew Teddy personally from my days at the UofA. He wasn't arrogant then and I doubt he is now. He has always been, first and foremost, a hard worker. You don't play as long in the NFL as he did - with his skill set - if you aren't. So, while he may be a bit sensationalistic at times due to the fact that he works for ESPN, I think you should consider for a moment that everything he said was true. Chad's a great player, but he is indeed big on the BS and silliness. I love him for it... when he plays well too.As for Teddy's supposed drug habit, does the person who made this statement have any proof of this?Ocho's got his own problems, but Bruschi's always struck me as an arrogant jerk and this doesn't change my opinion.
I believe the only record Brady set in this particular game was the interception free streak of 358 passes (in the regular season). In light of that, are you saying that Brady has failed to live up to the expectation of throwing interceptions?Brady set a record - if this is the expectation he has failed to live up to it for his entire career
I thought it was because his neck bolts malfunctioned. This is coming from the guy with such a massive drug habit he gave himself a stroke.

Agreed. He was just using the tweet to make his point. But given his audience (Ocho) I think it might actually be a good way to go about it. Of course I could be wrong and Ocho could be looking for work in a few weeks. It probably has very little to do with the actual tweet, and more to do with the fact that Ocho Cinco isn't putting in much time learning the playbook. Other people who have "ins" with the Patriots organization have been saying the same thing for weeks. I understand there's an adjusment period and you have to learn new nuances and terminology, but this goes way beyond that ... he literally doesn't know the plays. And this isn't a rookie, this is an 11 year NFL vet. It shouldn't be that much of a learning curve. Chad Johnson may have been a hard worker, but Chad Ochocinco has left a lot to be desired for a while.
Fact? People like who? Links? How do you know he literally doesnt know the plays?Mike Reiss reported on ESPN earlier that by all accounts Chad has been a consumate pro as a Patriot, on time to every meeting, working hard to get the playbook down, etc.Bruschi's reaction probably has very little to do with the actual tweet, and more to do with the fact that Ocho Cinco isn't putting in much time learning the playbook. Other people who have "ins" with the Patriots organization have been saying the same thing for weeks. The tweet was just the spark that blew up the powder keg.

Lead story on ATH and 3rd story in on PTI...kind of a hot topic today. Slow day otherwise though so maybe this got more steam than it should have. Now stop wasting time blogging and get back to your playbook so you're not in awe. You're not a spectator, you don't write for RotoWorld, your an FBG!I'm in awe that so many are talkin' about this.did the season start yet?
Every time I listen to Bruschi it reminds me how often NFL players get hit in the head. He's accomplished what he wanted - people are now talking about Bruschi.
Yea, that bum complemented the offense on a night Brady threw for 500+, what a jerk.Ocho needs to shut up, knock off the twitter shtick, and play football. He said he would do this when he joined the Pats, no doubt because he was told he would in no uncertain terms.Since then he's already pulled the stunt with rooming with a fan, and now dipping his toe in the water with at tweet, which got the pub he wanted (craved), but hopefully will get him shut down quickly by Bill B and the rest of his teammates. The reaction today is not due to the content of the tweet, but the fact that Ocho's past attention whoring/craving MO is very well known, and the last thing a successful team like the Patriots need is a bozo like Ocho trying to put himself in the limelight.Ocho needs to shut up, knock off the twitter shtick, and play football.
Ocho sending out a Tweet saying the offense looked nice isn't really attention grabbing, it was Bruschi's bizarre rant that brought this to the forefront.Ocho needs to shut up, knock off the twitter shtick, and play football.

Ocho knows every tweet he sends out will be news and get him the attention he craves.A better choice would be to close his twitter account and just play football.Assuming football is what he's most interested in.Ocho sending out a Tweet saying the offense looked nice isn't really attention grabbing, it was Bruschi's bizarre rant that brought this to the forefront.Ocho needs to shut up, knock off the twitter shtick, and play football.

AP Photo/Jim RogashFormer Patriots safety Rodney Harrison is still talking about his old team.Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, now an analyst for NBC's "Football Night in America", was a guest on ESPN Chicago 1000's "Waddle and Silvy Show" today. The topic of ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi's remarks about Chad Ochocinco were brought up, with Harrison asked if Bruschi was too harsh. "Not at all. You know, you got to understand, Bruschi is an old-school Patriot guy," Harrison said on the show. "I mean the guy went to [five] Super Bowls [and] won three there. And he's an old-school Patriot guy, I mean he's a die-hard guy. No one out-prepares Tedy Bruschi, no one outworks Tedy Bruschi. "When I was there I was never in awe of anything, because you expect greatness when you prepare, when you work hard, and when you do the things you're supposed to do. You expect to have success. "When we stopped Peyton Manning in the playoffs, and we'd intercept him, we weren't in awe of Peyton Manning, We knew we could go out there and stop him, because that's what we prepared for. So you look at a guy like Chad Ochocinco, you know that becomes a distraction when you're tweeting and you're bringing the fans into the mix. And (head coach Bill) Belichick would always tell us, there's always something else you can do to improve this team, to improve your play -- study more, work harder, be an asset, don't be a liability. "And when you look at Chad Ochocinco's stats, one catch for 14 yards, that's unacceptable. And when they were doing all these productive plays, you were on the bench. "Tedy's just like me, and Willie McGinest, and all these other guys. Don't be in awe of the situation, be part of that situation. Make it better. So I think Tedy Bruschi sent a message out to that entire New England Patriot team. This is a different team, they're a younger team. So Chad Ochocinco, get with the program. He told him exactly right. And it wouldn't surprise me if Belichick even pulled him to the side. "You can't be in awe of Tom Brady and these guys. You've seen this happen in a short training camp. You know, you've played against Brady. You played against a lot of these championship teams. Why are you in awe? It just becomes a distraction. Like Tedy said, 'Hey man, be part of the program.'"

Im not so sure Ocho ever learns his new playbook. I believe he went from a decade of adding dimensions to plays, to an instance of relearning (changes, corrections)This is not to say that its impossible for him to learn and know every play, but it may be a stretch to say that any star player going into a new offense/team can just start writing plays down in a moments notice. I remeber watching Ocho laugh on the field and chat w BB on the sideline (had me thinking "thats where hes going to play") A clip of the scene has even been showing on NFL Net. I could almost view BB's chuckle as "yeah you come play for me, but your gonna have to work for anything" Ocho maybe didnt expect to get in huddle and be told run a curl. At the same time, just like his tweet says, I dont believe he really knows how much everything is orchestrated. As far as speculation, NE could be saving Ocho for a home game. The question to me is really how Branch & Ocho compare as players. Its quite easy to believe TB knew how to play and read Branch. ie. if corner is playing such n such positioning, Tom knows at a certain spot what to look for and even when to throw him open..The biggest point, could just be basic math. Branch was the starter last Season, any changes could be a smooth transition (maybe BB doesnt want to tip his hat to the Jets wk. 5 for film study) One other point thats kind of off subject, Ocho probably isnt the player to put in your lineup for safe points. imo Ocho is for the homerun type play, be interesting to see how that changes w NE..p.s. Its nice that no one took Tedys comments to mean hes callin out TB for not putting the time in w a stud WR.The problem with saying this, and apologies if it has been touched on already, but what happens if Chad catches 5 for 80 this week? Did he all of a sudden learn the offense?
and one of the snaps he was on the field for he was called for a bonehead penalty which negated a 40 catch by Gronk.Bruschi's reaction probably has very little to do with the actual tweet, and more to do with the fact that Ocho Cinco isn't putting in much time learning the playbook. Other people who have "ins" with the Patriots organization have been saying the same thing for weeks. The tweet was just the spark that blew up the powder keg. The "critics" are essentially mouthpieces of the organization and are saying likely what a lot of the players in the room are thinking or telling them. why would they reward him if he doesn't know the plays and has by all accounts had a horrible camp? That's the exact opposite message that the Pats team is about and is why he was on the bench like a fan "in awe" of Brady's performance. Harrison and Brushci know the deal, they talk to guys and if Chad isn't pulling his weight he's more likely to be inactive than he will be a target. I wouldn't even think of starting him after last week.As a Ocho owner coming off a bad first week, here's hoping that Belichek and Brady game plan this week to get Ocho way involved and silence the critics, kind of take him under their wing and give him some confidence. It's either that or get ready to cut him and bring on Moss (who I also own!). Seriously, I hope they try to feature him this week for the above reasons....tempted to start him.
could be both coupled with the fact that he's lost several steps over the past couple years. He was coming from a place where he was a big fish in a small pond and now he's a small fish in a big one.Bill Simmons has said according to the people he talks to in the Patriots that Ocho Cinco just can't remember the plays at all. And I just don't buy that it should be some Herculian learning curve for an 11 year vet to pick up at least enough plays to be involves in most of the packages. OchoCinco's former teammate last year, TO, came to the Bengals and was starting for them Week 1 racking up 7 catches, and ended up with nearly 1,000 yards receiving despite missing several games. Either Ocho Cinco isn't putting in the time, or he isn't very bright.
There are so many bad guys in the NFL, it's unfortunate that Bruschi goes after a guy that is so positive.
Thanks for posting this, Pain. I heard them talking about it on the raido but missed it when they played it.In the game thread the other night I posed the question would Ocho be released? I ask the question because in New England it doesn't matter who you are, if you don't do what is asked of you or if you don't fit in to what they are doing you simply are shown the door..usually sooner than later. Here is what Tedi said on the radio.
In an appearance on WEEI Radio Tuesday, the former New England linebacker -- now an ESPN football analyst -- ripped into the Pats' new wide receiver for Tweeting his admiration for Tom Brady's record-setting performance Monday night in Miami according to Tom Curran of CSNNE.com.
Bruschi was exceptionally agitated about it.
"Drop the awe factor, OK, Ocho, Chad, drop the awe factor," Bruschi began. "You're not a fan, all right? You're not someone who's on another team or watching TV. You're not an analyst. You're a part of it. They want you to be a part of it. So get with the program because obviously you're not getting it and you're tweeting because you're saying, 'It's amazing to see'? It's amazing to see because you don't understand it! You still don't understand it and it's amazing to you because you can't get it.
"Stop tweeting and get in your playbook," Bruschi raged. "Wake up! If you're just waking up now - I don't know when this was, six minutes ago? - get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think its amazing. If you're in it and you know what you're doing and you execute out there you don't think it's amazing. You know why? Because it's what you're supposed to do. All of a sudden it's second nature. 'I know i was supposed do that, yes I went 99 yards, I threw for 517 you know why? Because we're that good and that's what we're supposed to do and that's what I thought we were gonna do.' You are still in awe to be a member of the New England Patriots offense. Join the system, buddy. "
Doesn't sound good.
I can't say with any authority but I would guess that the Pat's offensive playbook is a little more complicated and complex than the Bengals. Patriots run a ton of audibles on the field based on match ups and catching the defense off guard. Where as Chad might have been told in Cincy to run either a post, slant, deep route etc, in NE the WRs probably have a lot more responsibility with blocking and understanding what the route is in the given situation. One of the reasons it seems Randy fell out of favor is because NE moved away from just telling him to run down the field and catch the ball. Until Chad is able to grasp the complete offense he is not going to see the field much over the like of Branch and Welker, especially when NE is running a no huddle offense.'InmanRoshi said:Bill Simmons has said according to the people he talks to in the Patriots that Ocho Cinco just can't remember the plays at all. Bruschi isn't very informative and is overly emotional and full of cliches. Chad will be a much better football announcer. It pains me to see Tedy on ESPN acting like a nob. My only consolation is that I don't actually watch ESPN so I don't actually ever see it. Now if only I could avoid his idiotic remarks online somehow . . .
