Tejada breaks wrist (1 Viewer)

as of yet, no. Here is what rotoworld said:

ESPN's Buster Olney says Miguel Tejada has been diagnosed with a distal radial fracture of the left wrist.

The Orioles apparently aren't confirming or denying the report. "He had an old injury in there, so they couldn't tell if it was old or new," VP of baseball operations Jim Duquette said earlier Thursday. "We need to talk to the radiologist and try to get a sense for how he's feeling." If there's a fracture, even one that's non-displaced, Tejada figures to have to go on the DL for the first time in his career. The Orioles would get by with Chris Gomez at shortstop.

update from rotoworld:

The Orioles confirmed that Miguel Tejada has a small, non-displaced fracture in his left wrist and said the shortstop hopes to play through the injury.

"It's just a crack," VP of baseball operations Jim Duquette said. "That means it will heal, but if you re-injure it and it becomes a fracture, then the only way to make it heal properly is to put a screw in it. That's certainly more complicated." Doctors told team officials that it was going to be a week to 10 days before the injury starts healing. If Tejada wants to try to play through it, the Orioles would probably let him. "He said that he was sore, but he could play," Duquette said. "He thinks it is going to feel better. He seems to have a very high pain threshold, but you don't want to risk making it worse."

Seriously, it was pathetic watching him do what he did yesterday. At 31-41 there is no reason to have your SS playing with a broken wrist. It will only hurt the club more. Tejada will not be an Oriole for many more years, so why shouldn't the team end his streak and protect the Ultimate Orioles name in the record book.(Not that Tejada will come close even if he plays through this.)

Interm manager doesn't want to ruffle feathers and is allowing Tejada to make the call. Evidently, this streak means a lot to him.

Rotoworld - Orioles placed shortstop Miguel Tejada on the 15-day disabled list with a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist.

The fifth longest consecutive-game streak in major league history comes to an end at 1,152. We would have stopped counting it after yesterday anyway. Tejada will probably push to come back after the minimum, but we're guessing he'll be return in the first game following the All-Star break next month. The O's will go with Chris Gomez and Freddie Bynum at shortstop while he's out. Bynum is the better pickup of the two in AL-only leagues.
