Tennis Elbow Cure (1 Viewer)

I came down with tennis elbow 5 weeks ago. For the first two weeks, I just woke up every morning assuming the pain would go away. It didnt. The next week I did a quick search and found out that I should be wearing elbow support strap to help reduce pain and protect from further irritation. It definitely felt better while I was wearing it, but the overall, it wasnt getting any better. After the third week, I did some further googling which led me to this article from the NY Times. After reading tons of positive reviews, I purchased the Green Theraband Flexbar to try some at-home PT. On Thursday of last week, I started using the Theraband to do the "

" 4X a day followed by ice. It is now Wednesday and I am nearly pain free. There you have it FFA. Tuck this one away in the old memory bank. :bye:

So this guy goes to the doctor because his arm hurts. The doctor asks the guy for a urine sample. The man doesn't think this makes sense but does it anyway. The doctor then pours the sample into a hopper on a fancy looking machine. He tells the man "This is brand new. I just poor the urine into the machine and in a minute it will print out exactly what's wrong with you."

A few seconds later the machine spits out a slip of paper. The doctor reads it "It says you have tennis elbow. You need to take it easy in order for it to get better. Come and see me next week."

The man is totally skeptical. The day before he has to go back to the doctor he takes a sample cup and has his wife pee in it. Then his teenage daughter. He even gets a sample from his dog. For one last finishing touch he masturbates into the cup.

He goes to the doctor the next day and the doc pours the sample into the machine. Eventually the machine prints out a slip. The man asks while smirking "OK, Doc. What does your fancy machine say now?"

The doctor says "Your wife is pregnant, your daughter has the clap, your dog has fleas, and if you don't stop jerking off you're never going to get rid of that tennis elbow."

Its absolutely amazing how many masturbation jokes you get when you walk around with an elbow brace for 3 weeks.

you need to exam your tennis form/mechanics... the rest/pt may make things feel better but the real fix is in the form/mechanics of your play.

Buddy had surgery for golfers elbow.

3 exercises he does are:

1) Beer goggles exercise

2) Flip hand over and try to flatten it on a table

3) Forearm weights

How do you know it isn't simply resting your arm for six weeks that is causing it to feel better?

agree, but i didnt hurt it playing tennis. i hurt it hitting grounders to little girls for 1.5hrs straight. :bag: i was trying to hold back while still hitting the ball solidly. every now and again id hit it weird and i could feel a jolt shoot up my arm. dont plan on ever doing this again, so not going to work on my grounders form/mechanics.

i dont. of course its a small sample size, but lots of other people report similar results. resting it from weeks 1-4 produced absolutely no results (wasnt getting any better). doing this for 6 days and the difference is amazing. if you ever get it, this is definitely worth a try.

Thanks for the tip. I've had it before and it sucks.

So, uhhh... what other activities will you be wearing the brace for in the future?!?
none. ill probably do a few more weeks/months of strengthening and hopefully it will never be an issue again as long as i avoid hitting weak ground balls for an entire practice. cant wait to toss one without the brace. wait, what were we talking about again?

Physical therapy is an important component to healing so more power to you but 1-4 weeks doesn't seem like a fair time frame to expect tendonitis to heal. Six weeks is generally the minimum expectation. In the future remember that regular rest, ice, compression and elevation should always be your first line of treatment.

Yeah, my "recovery" was mostly wishful thinking. I ended up going to the docs too and they sent me to PT. They did some thing where they would message the forearm (felt awesome) and then hooked up some electric simulator thingy with some cortisone cream. It definitely helped, but time was the ultimate cure. All told, it took about a year until I was pain free again.

ETA - they advised me to only go cortisone injection as a last resort. Do some homework before agreeing to this.

I have golfers elbow. As of January I could mot do pull-ups or curls or any movements like that. Saw orthopedic and had cortisone shots in may and August. All it did was numb the pain. I've been going to PT for a month and I'm very slowly improving. I could not straighten my arm when I went in and on my best days now I can mostly function. I was told rehab from surgery takes a year, oof. Stick to therapy.

My buddy had this. He ended up with surgery. He found out that the cortisone actually "ate away" his tendon.

Any update on your crazy anti obama neighbors with the corvettes?

If you're in Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia or Cincinnati, Airrosti is the way to go. Three 30 minute appointments and my elbow was as good as new and I've had no problems since.

Any updates here? Got it in my right elbow. Felt a twinge one day hammering nails into some wall framing. Hurts like hell at times. Got a cortisone shot in April. Doc said it'd last three months. He was right. I want to avoid more shots.

Please help me.

I can't tell if the first post in here is serious or just an elaborate setup for a chance to post that video of the chick playing with the phallic thing.
