Termite Treatment (1 Viewer)

I am trying to figure out if this is necessary or really worth it.  First off Google is a sellout which blows chuncks.   Searching for unbiased opinion is difficult and you have to wade through page after page after page of termite control companies trying to sell you on the idea.

I did get an inspection and a couple of estimates.   No evidence was found, but the inspected insisted it is not if you get termites, but when.  I think the previous owner had traps installed but it has been a while ago.  But the estimates were around $1000 for initial and $225 per year to refill the traps.

Seems like a bit of a racket, but gf watches too much HGTV.  Does that stuff work and is it necessary in Midwest area?

Meh

When i was in real estate a termite inspector told me every house either has or will get termites.

Kinda told me what i needed to know.

No evidence was found. Move on.

Kind of where I am at.   But gf is hard to convince.
Don't treat until you get them.

1. You'll know you have them when there's a hatch in the spring and they are all over your house.

2. If on a crawl, you'll see their trails.

3. Why would you put up bait traps to attract them to your home?

My neighbor had them. We paid for the service where they drill holes around your house and put in some reppellent. We then had follow ups for 4 years.

I didn't renew after that.

I only did it because they were in the neighborhood
