Terrance Kiel (1 Viewer)

Let's see him give and take some punishment. He disappeared last year, avoided contact, danced around a dozen could be assists, painted his toenails, etc.

I still like Kiel this season. If Oakland could have done anything on offense he would have bad better numbers. I was a bit disappointed as he was the worse scorer of the 6 DBs on my team but he should improve. Luckily I can sit on him a while.

Kiel and McCree both played very well, and it made a huge difference compared to the safety play last year.

The Chargers played a lot of cover 3 last night, where Kiel came up and played like an exctra LB, and the CBs and FS were responsible for the deep zones. Probably a good omen for Kiel's fantasy value.

Yep, pretty interesting gameplan in that they were doing a lot of that before they were well ahead and able to pin their ears back. Multiple linebackers blitzes, single deep safety coverage like MT said. No respect for the receiver opposite Moss (and Brooks by proxy) or the OL at all. I wonder if the gameplan stays the same against more well-rounded offenses. I'd think, given Kiel's skill set, it probably would but it'd be great to hear MT's (and tommygunZ or BoltBacker, etal) eyes-on anaylsis all season long.

Sources: Chargers safety Kiel arrested on drug charges

09/26/2006 20:56 PM - San Diego Chargers safety Terrence Kiel was arrested Tuesday on drug-related charges, sources close to the team told ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen.

The sources said several plain clothes DEA agents appeared at the Chargers' facility Tuesday morning with an arrest warrant, searched his locker and car, and took Kiel away.

The Chargers, who are coming off a bye week, were on the practice field at the time.

The exact nature of the charges is not known. Kiel was booked and released after posting $150,000 bond.

Chargers officials were not returning phone calls Tuesday night. Kiel and his agent also could not be reached for comment.

Kiel is the starting strong safety for the 2-0 Chargers, who play the 3-0 Ravens on Sunday. Kiel's status for the game is unclear.

A rookie in 2003, Kiel was expected to start that season for the Chargers before he was shot three times in an attempted carjacking in Houston in July of that year.

Beautiful.Let's see, of the three guys I've pimped the most in this forum over the past two years (for better or worse), Kiel and Thurman go down in successive days.If I were Thomas Davis, I'd be :scared:

After seeing the "Madden curse" posts after Alexander got hurt, maybe this is the beginning of the "Jene Bramel curse" :violin:

Update: Jue just had knee surgery and is listed as OUT for this week. So Clinton Hart will start if Kiel is unavailable. (Although I haven't heard anything suggesting that Kiel will be unavailable.)

Chargers.com reporting Clinton Hart starts this week.
Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer announced Wednesday that starting strong safety Terrence Kiel (personal reasons) will not practice this week and will not travel with the team this weekend as they head to Baltimore for Sunday’s contest against the Ravens. In his absence, Schottenheimer said that Hart will receive the 15th start of his career.

I know this isn't very funny for our buddy T Kiel right now, but...

Busting a guy right on the practice field for cough syrup? Too funny. I get the codeine thing, but I just can't get this image of T Kiel in a pharmacist's coat packaging bottles of Robitussin in his suitcase to peddle from small town to small town on the frontier.

He shipped FedEX? No wonder dude had trouble with quick decisions in coverage.

Two months for the FedEX guys to tell the feds because of their "busy schedule"? Sorry, DEA, just didn't have time to pick up a phone to tell you about this one until just now. It's just cough syrup, right?

And, :lmao: at the thought of T Kiel getting carjacked over a couple boxes of cough syrup.

Pardon my ignorance, but we're not talking OTC cough syrup are we? This was prescription junk at least, wasn't it? I think the NFL's penalty may end up tougher than the legal system's.
No, you're right. Codeine is a controlled substance -- Schedule II narcotic -- same as morphine or cocaine. A number of presciption cough syrups include codeine as an cough suppressant. I agree -- they're probably picking on Kiel to get the bigger fish, but it's still relatively serious. The off the field NFL stuff is killing me this week though. Between Shaun Alexander, Kim Etheredge, the All My Bengals soap opera, and Kiel, there's a killer standup routine to be written.

Sorry to be the buzzkill. No doubt it has been an entertaining week. :D I just hear those WWII air raid alarms when I hear opiate. Booze, coke, pot; or steroids, adrenal glands, performance enhancers, whatever-- all of them are part and parcel to this gig. So are painkillers, but they are different to me. Through volunteer work I have seen the depths of just about every addiction, and nothing is quite like the opiates. They also seem to attack the most unsuspecting souls. I wonder if the stash at home was for him? Maybe some customers from the office?

Back with the first team...

"It was practice as usual,'' said Kiel, who pleaded not guilty to the counts, although a DEA investigator said Kiel admitted to shipping the two parcels in question.

Kiel was in his customary role at Chargers Park, running with the first string as the Chargers prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers' visit on Sunday night.

The Chargers didn't allow Kiel to work with the squad last week or take part in Sunday's stunning 16-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Coach Marty Schottenheimer said he expects Kiel to start on Sunday.
:gang1: Chargers will be in POWDER blue this weekend. Just sayin'.
