Another Nick Bolton question (1 Viewer)

Maybe we can ask Norton or Davenport? I could be wrong but in the limited Chiefs action I have seen so far, Nick Bolton seems to be dropping back into coverage a lot more versus last year… this might explain his so-so tackle numbers so far (yeah I know, small sample size). Has anyone else noticed this????? Wondering if I should try to foist him off on some unsuspecting soul while he still has plenty of name recognition. Wondering if we can address this in the Guru article or elsewhere, Hay and Tranquill are putting up decent tackles even when Bolton is out there, what gives?

I noticed that towards the middle to end of last year too. I don't think he is playing any differently this year (other than being injured) but he is also missing a couple big plays that he had last year early. Overall I think he is not worth the hype and rankings he currently has especially in big play scoring leagues.

I was able to move him for Bernard and Tremaine Edmunds in a big play scoring league a week or so ago. I was happy to do so.

Good deal. Bolton is no better than Bernard... heck, Bernard may be better in big-play formats as it is. So you basically got Edmunds for free. He's not a great weekly choice in big-play formats but steady as a LB2/3ish. Nice job

Interesting. Ithink top 19 myself. He is only 24 but is a free agent.

I have him. Top 10

Roquan, Edgerion Cooper, Zaire Franklin, Logan Wilson Jack Campbell are my for sures

Olokoun is a guy who could be replaced by Lloyd or Miller
Baun a great year but is he a blip or the real thing. Does Deans injury help(I would have had Dean up top otherwise)
Brooks. I really like and think top 10 but 27. What is old for LB
Warner. Tailed off near end of the season. 28. Could be top 10
Koramoah. I think top 10 but the injury is so unknown and thus slows down thoughts
Al-Shaair. Is he really that good. Plus the over the line physicality factor
Jones. Does Seattle resign. The degenerative factor going on. Only 25
Bernard. Is he true #1 for Bills. Also only 25
Edmund’s. Played 100% this year and only 26
Edwards. At 28. Who is guy to own for Bears
Queen. Still young but did he do enough as prime guy. Is Wilson the guy instead.
Sherwood. Great season and young. Mosley done but was he circumstance. What about Williams
Ellis. Great season but 29 and what does healthy Anderson do
Spillane. Same as Ellis but less competition. New staff though can change a lot
Luvu. Big FA signing but is he the guy overall
Henley. Great season, still young but killed teams in week 17. Does Colson hurt
Wallace. Young at 21 but will get get chance to shine. Kind of small
Okereke. Very good till injury. Slipped off. Does he get replaced

Interesting stuff and any of these guys could be in someone’s top 10

1. Roquan Smith
2. Edge Cooper
3. Zaire Franklin
4. Jack Campbell
5. Logan Wilson
6. Nick Bolton
7. Jordyn Brooks
8. Fred Warner
9. Tremaine Edmunds
10. Jeremiah Koramoah if healthy. Otherwise replace with Daiyan Henley

Jihaad Campbell is very interesting prospect in 25 draft. Walker might be also but will he be DE instead. Weapon but so was Isiah Simmons and how did that work.

Such a great post.

Then you had to spoil it by mentioning Simmons.....................................................

Here are my thoughts on your thoughts:

  • Olokoun is a guy who could be replaced by Lloyd or Miller------- Will be 30 yrs old next year. Missed games and new coaching staff. Take a chance as LB3 if still there. Look value not pay up for him.
  • Baun a great year but is he a blip or the real thing. Does Deans injury help(I would have had Dean up top otherwise) ----- Older guy that blew up on the scene. Dean can't stay healthy so I think he is still top guy in that defense for the next couple years.
  • Brooks. I really like and think top 10 but 27. What is old for LB ------- Tackle machine at 27 yrs old still has a couple top seasons in him.
  • Warner. Tailed off near end of the season. 28. Could be top 10 ------ I would let someone else take him. He didn't look the same this year but could have been the SF curse of 2024 (everyone looked bad)
  • Koramoah. I think top 10 but the injury is so unknown and thus slows down thoughts ------ watching injury closely. I want to trade for him on the cheap but if he doesn't play again that would be an issue.
  • Al-Shaair. Is he really that good. Plus the over the line physicality factor ------ top 10 for me but is injury risk (small side). get if falls to a value
  • Jones. Does Seattle resign. The degenerative factor going on. Only 25 ------ too much smoke for me. Three teams in one year seems like there is something wrong here.
  • Bernard. Is he true #1 for Bills. Also only 25 ------ yes he is the true #1 but does miss games with injury. Top 10 for me.
  • Edmund’s. Played 100% this year and only 26 ----- I think he is a JAG WR3/4 type for IDP purposes.
  • Edwards. At 28. Who is guy to own for Bears ----- better IDP guy than Edmunds. Look to get at LB2/3 price with LB1 upside for another year or two
  • Queen. Still young but did he do enough as prime guy. Is Wilson the guy instead. ----- really disappointing year. Expected huge things and wasn't good for IDP but did get better as year went on. Maybe he figured something out or they figured something out with him. Still LB1 but look at discount
  • Sherwood. Great season and young. Mosley done but was he circumstance. What about Williams ------- I would have in top 15 for sure with top 5 upside.
  • Ellis. Great season but 29 and what does healthy Anderson do ------ I think this was an anomoly. Career year and at 29 I let someone else take him
  • Spillane. Same as Ellis but less competition. New staff though can change a lot ------ Solid LB2 with upside in tackle heavy leagues.
  • Luvu. Big FA signing but is he the guy overall ------- Target in big play scoring. drop down in tackle heavy scoring.
  • Henley. Great season, still young but killed teams in week 17. Does Colson hurt ------ I don't think Colson will hurt his overall. He was all over the place this year.
  • Wallace. Young at 21 but will get get chance to shine. Kind of small ------- Depends on Jewell. Really dropped off when Jewell was on the field. Seems to be the guy that gets tackles 8 yds down field. I wouldn't target him unless you can hold for a few years.
  • Okereke. Very good till injury. Slipped off. Does he get replaced ------ would be worries about Musau/McFadden taking stats. I think NYG could move on from him. I wouldn't target unless he dropped a lot.

Some other names (not top 10 guys) that are interesting to me:
  • Dennis (TB): Injured right when he was starting to come on. David is getting up there and I think Dennis takes over. Looked good early
  • Too-Too/Christian Harris: I know I have Al-Shaair high but these guys also could be in line for good IDP production. I would target late
  • Liufau: In big play scoring he has a chance to do something especially with Overshown being out a while. He stepped in down the stretch and they used him all over the place including getting after the QB.
  • Carlies: I believe Speed is a FA so the productive second fiddle to Franklin spot should be Carlies. He did well when he got that shot this year. He could be in line to take over that spot from Franklin down the road too.
