Terrell Owens trade for Calvin Johnson (1 Viewer)

I'm really ticked to see that my Commissioner approved a straight up trade of Terrell Owens for Calvin Johnson.

We start 3 receivers and the guy who got Owens does not even have him in his starting line-up this week.

When I went to talk to the Commissioner all he claimed he's been a commissioner for 5 years and knows what he's doing. All he said there wasn't any collusion.

Would any other League Commissioner approve this?

I think the better question is why WOULDN'T you approve it? Unless this is a dynasty league I don't see the problem.

If there's no collusion, yes. That's the only thing you should be worrying about with trades. Leagues that veto trades that are lop-sided or not "100%" fair to both teams are for communists.

I love the people that say they dont see a problem with the deal. TO isnt worth a bag of balls in my league.

That being said I agree with the majority. Unless collusion can be proved then the trade should not be vetoed.

It's a trade for a player with a HOF body of work for one with a boatload of potential. No problems with it here.

Why would someone trade Terrell Owens for Calvin Johnson? I probably would suspect collusion.
Calvin is hurt, and his QB is hurt. TO is playing and will possibly be traded. In a redraft league it is possible that TO has a better last half of the season. Not likely, but quite possible. It is not like Calvin is having a great year.

As of right now we have NO IDEA what the status of Calvins injury is....NONE.

We do know that TO has a new QB playing for him this week that, by the coaches own admission, will be much more willing to throw the ball down field.

Would I trade Calvin for TO straight up rigth now? No. Would I block the trade as the commissioner of my league? No.

Those are two different things. I don't see any problem with this deal whatsoever. It's a stupid deal for the team giving up Calvin.

2 different issues there, Sparkyif you're asking me "would you trade Megatron for TO, straight up?", I ask you what the hell you're smoking....

but the OP asked "Would any other League Commisioner approve this", the answer is :goodposting:

The commish's job is to prevent collusion, not to protect idiots from themselves.

Explain what the issue is? If you think Calvin's injury is more serious then it is or you think Calvin is going to struggle the rest of the year (Remember, he only had one good year in his career), then I can see it from the TO side.

Everyone thinks they are some psychic who can predict future performance. TO can easily go off. You cannot predict what will happen

This is nothing

Calvin was traded for L Evens and M Clayton last week(both are just above ww if you ask me)

I commish this league, and allowed the trade.

I had a sit down with the owner who traded CJ away(he's fairly new to FF) I had to ask him why he would make such a trade............his response: I needed depth at WR :wall:

If I were you, I'd be mad at myself for not knowing that there was an idiot in the league who would give me CJ for TO and mad at myself for not trying something similar. However, now that you know that this idiot exists, you have equal access to him and his players and maybe you can swindle somebody else off his roster. Maybe there are a number of other idiots in your league that you can target for trades. Good hunting.

In a non ppr league CJ is ranked 25th, TO 49th. CJ is hurt for an undetermined period of time.Sounds like a fair trade to me.

At least as commish you were thoughtful enough to ask.Plus it's a 2 for 1 and makes more sense then a staright up trade.

It's a horrible deal, but as commissioner it is not my job to protect people from their own stupidity.

:) Even as a Lion fan I do not know the status of CJ. Who knows in a redraft league anything can happen.

TO was dropped in one of my leagues this past week. He will probably have a couple good games, but I think he will mostly be unproductive this season (if he remains a Bill).

The answer people are offering is that it doesn't matter if the commish would make the trade or thinks its balanced. As long as there is no evidence of collusion either from the trading guys or obvious citrcumstances, you have to let people make what may seem to be stupid trades.

What if the commish was faced with Forte for Rice in Week 1 and vetoed it because Rice didn't have half the value of Forte - and so damaging the season of the guy who was smart enough to see Rice before you did. As a team in the league, you might hate it that your competitor made a good trade, but the answer is to do your homework and beat him too it. Compete. Its not to have some commish step in and tell people how to value their players and run their teams.

God I hate posts like this.

You have to be pretty arrogant to think you can evaluate a trade better than someone else in midseason. That isn't even the job of the commissioner anyway.

Mock the owner that traded CJ at the end of the season if it turns out bad, but unless the guy getting CJ is friends with the other owner and the other owner appears to be tanking, there is no need for commissioner involvement.

I hate when people complain about trades. They should be mad at themselves for not getting to the CJ owner first.
