but FoxNews (consider the source) was hoping this wasn't some kind of dry run for the NY marathon....

Blah, news people are as qualified as us dopes in here. Not trying to get political orbut FoxNews (consider the source) was hoping this wasn't some kind of dry run for the NY marathon....
"Some kind of dry run" that wasn't a dry run, because, you know, it was an actual terror attack?FoxNews (consider the source) was hoping this wasn't some kind of dry run for the NY marathon....
That's a pretty good deal.Guy rented a Home Depot truck for $19.99
That's a pretty good deal.
I would argue that while it was an actual terror attack it is also a dry run. In my link above, one of the other Uzbec (sp?) terrorists used a car to kill a bunch of people. Considering it can be easier in some cases in this country to get a car than a gun, this may be the first in a series of such attacks. That being said, to say it's a dry run for the NYC Marathon or the Thanksgiving Parade, seems off. Why would they tip off the authorities to their plans so close to those events?Joe Summer said:"Some kind of dry run" that wasn't a dry run, because, you know, it was an actual terror attack?
agree. a "dry run" doesn't involve the actual act or it defeats the purpose. now the city and even state is all over the marathon and parade with extra security and vigilance- been on the news daily here talking up the extra security efforts.I would argue that while it was an actual terror attack it is also a dry run. It's not political, just inciting fear...which is what Fox does. Carry on.Courtjester said:Not trying to get political orbut FoxNews (consider the source) was hoping this wasn't some kind of dry run for the NY marathon....
Do we still need to have insurance, registration and a license to drive a vehicle legally?Ban all vehicles. They're clearly only used for violence.
He’s been capturedShooter in Colorado killed three people at a Walmart last night and he's still on the run.
All is good because he isn't Muslim.
My point is that it's a misuse of the phrase "dry run".I would argue that while it was an actual terror attack it is also a dry run. Yeah, because the left leaning stations don't inspire fear. Remember H1N1 that was a Pandemic? What did it kill? 1500 people worldwide? The Flu kills 10-20 times that in this country alone every year. They're all about fear mongering. Both sides. To accuse only one side is obtuse [/AndyDufresne] (the character not the poster here)It's not political, just inciting fear...which is what Fox does. Carry on.
I feel that it can be both. The one he copied was an actual terror attack and seemingly a case study for this attack. So maybe dry run isn't correct, but it's also practice or testing a strategy in the real world. On the job training so to speak. My point is that it's a misuse of the phrase "dry run".
