Texans sign Joseph (1 Viewer)

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:( :ptts:

The Raiders cut Chris Johnson today. That tells me they've made a deal with one of the FA corners also (Asomugha, Cromartie, Clements?)

Nnamdi may have made his decision.

Schefter tweet:

Interesting stats... RT @KCJoynerTFS: Joseph has a better 2-yr YPA than Asomugha on nearly 3 times as many targets.

Damn. Nnamdi probably to NYJ.
Either that or he's staying in Oakland.
Don't count out Tamba Bay...ton of cap space and have been awfully quite.
La Canfora said this about 15 minutes ago:
In the Nnamdi/Cromartie sweepstakes, some have mentioned TB and DAL, but people I'm talkin to there don't think they'll land either ...
Rumor is that Tampa made a HUGE offer. Highest paid CB by far.

Good. I would love to see the Jets squirm a little here. No offense Jets fans but it is entertaining.

People keep saying Tampa but they run that Tampa 2 and Nnamdi is a mam-to-man specialist. Seems like he would be a bit of a waste in that defense.

Joseph got 5 years, $48.75m with $23.5m guaranteed total, though signing bonus is $12.5m.
He's also way younger than Nnamdi. Still incredulous that the Bengals blew yet another one. Instead we'll sign half as good for 3/4 of the price :( -QG

You got my sympathy. Living through the Charlie Casserly years, I can feel for fans of a team that's been run like the Bengals have. You're welcome to come cheer for the Texans instead? I'd say there is room on the bandwagon, but we don't even have a bandwagon yet.

Damn!!! I was hoping that the Lions were going to pull that out. They've got to get someone back there! It wont be Nnamdi but someone, PLEASE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also as a Millen survivor I feel your pain.

49ers should break the bank so the Jets can't have him.
I just dont see the new regime doing this. Too many holes.
Agreed, that's why they should have went after Joseph, trying to sign Namdi while all the other CB's get signed, hope they don't lose out to the Jets :wall:

Love the signing. Finally nice to see my texans make some good moves these last couple of years after some brutal times for the better part of a decade.

GregR let's get that bandwagon started!

Since the Joseph signing there are probably more people cheering for the 49ers right now than at any time since Joe Montana was on the team.Sign Aso!

That's an eye popping stat. First time I've ever seen it. Hmmmm....
Makes sense though. Asomugha was pretty much only passed on successfully when the play was open, ergo yards were nearly guaranteed.Joseph is a good corner obviously, but not nearly as much of a shutdown player and was passed on more, but when he was passed on he was able to close the yards off pretty quickly.

Yeah, I'm glad we went ahead and grabbed Joseph instead of letting Nnamdi play us all the way to the end. Seems like Nnamdi really wants to be in NY anyway. Now we need another safety...

Daniel Manning signed, four years, $20 million, $9m guaranteed. He gets $11.5m over the first 2 years.

Hes also missed 13 games in 5 years, thats a lot for a CB.

Thrilled by the signing. I didn't particularly favor one over the other, but like others have pointed out Joseph is still in his prime and may one day be as good as Aso. I don't know the Texans cap situation but after signing another safety is there the possibility of grabbing Cromartie? That is if Jets land Aso of course. May be wishful thinking, but that would be awesome, as I remember seeing some articles back around April referencing Cushing "recruiting" him.

Danieal Manning - DB - Texans Texans agreed to terms with SS Danieal Manning on a four-year, $20 million contract with $9 million guaranteed.

It's hard not to love both of Houston's secondary upgrades executed today. Manning is fairly old to be finishing up his rookie contract (he turns 29 in August), but he also appears to be just now coming into his own. Manning finished No. 5 overall in Pro Football Focus' 2010 cover safety rankings, and he fills very hard against the run. He'll start at strong safety for the Texans and be a massive upgrade on Bernard Pollard against the pass. Related: BearsSource: John McClain on Twitter Jul 29, 12:48 AM

I'm not even sure how they will fit Joseph and the guys they resigned at this point. I mean, possible, sure. If they can get people to restructure contracts. If it were me, I might try to re-sign Vonta Leach and then look for a lesser corner. Someone like a Richard Marshall maybe... no clue if he fits the system well, I just mean soeone around that price range. That might even be too pricey though.
