Texas Road House-Food, drinks & BUNS (1 Viewer)

Not real thread worthy but it can die a quick death.  Been to Texas Road House in Denver, Phoenix, & Chandler AZ.  Cripes they are #######g busy.  5:30 PM in Phoenix and a line to get in on a Thursday. The ones I've been too are packed every time.   Food is good & very reasonable.  Buns are sinfully soft & buttery-easy there, I'm talking the ones made out of dough.  Just wondering what others here think of the joint.

Love it. My kids refer to it as "The Peanut Restaurant" because you can throw your peanut shells on the floor. We did my oldest's birthday there several years back and he got to sit on a saddle while everyone sang to him.

Good food, not crazy expensive, fun for family. What's not to like?

Seems pretty much like all the other chains that are in the same price category, just noisier.

It's alright. We have one in Houston Texas. Not really a top choice though. The best part is the cinnamon butter for the rolls.

The ones around here are a step above your lone star or outback.   Admittedly, they look like every lone star or outback, but the service is usually much better as is the food quality.

The steaks are very good for the money. Not steak-snob quality by any stretch, but TR is easily my favorite steak "chain". The salads / dressings are very good too, as are the rolls and cinnamon butter. With a large beer or two, my wife and I are out of there for about $45 plus tip - can't beat it.

Forgot to mention they are reasonably priced, too.

The one closest to us is always packed. Been there once. Probably go there again/more often once our kids get a little older.

Used to go like once a month when I was younger.  Now pretty rare (wife and 3 kids makes going out tough and steakhouse not high on our list with the kids and if we're going just the 2 of us plenty of better options)

It's fine for what it is though.  I'd give a slight nod to outback and longhorn in the chain category but definitely better than a logans or lonestar.  Maybe a couple bucks cheaper than outback and longhorn as well

My go to is the ribeye with mushrooms and onions and a side of brown gravy for dipping

Getting hungry due to your last sentence.

A little off topic. If you want amazing barbecue in Texas, I would say killen's barbecue is one of the best. Long ### lines though so get there early, but they give you free beer while you wait in line. Located in Pearland.

Easily the best moderate chain steakhouse. Great for a family. Food is usually very good and the price can't be beat.

My thoughts as well.  I like TR.

My family enjoys this place. I usually get a salad and then enjoy the rolls and a beer.

They have a spin off restaurant chain called Bubbas 33 which is easily my family's favorite casual place to eat.  Same ownership. Sports bar theme with tvs everywhere. Great pizza, burgers and the shotgun shrimp app is amazing. Talk about a place that's packed all the time.

Great place for families.  Call ahead seating usually limits our wait to less than 5 minutes.  Peanuts at the door and rolls immediately when seated limits kids whining.  And if they do, the atmosphere is loud enough that others can't hear.  Most steaks are $15-20 with a pair of sides - I can get out for $50 for a family of 4 if we skip booze.  Chipotle costs me $40 for the same group.

Great place for families.
Big key here. Not at all expecting "top-end food" when we go, so "decent food" is more than good enough. We also do the Call-Ahead seating, and in this era of ubiquitous smart phones ... can't believe everyone doesn't do it. Yet whenever we go, the lobby and the porch outside are packed with people.

And this is in suburban New Orleans, where you know that local options are legion. But Texas Roadhouse punches its weight -- none of the other mid-range steakhouse chain places can say that.

Good food for the price. You get plenty of food for your money too. The Dallas Filet is my go to and a loaded sweet potato.

Few places know how to serve a good sweet potato.  Enjoy TR very much!  Always look for one when I travel for work.  Also just found out they are building within 5mins driving distance of the house.  Can't wait!

Below average chain.  Not at all difficult to find better food so we never go.  Same with Jimmy Mac's, probably owned by the same company.
