I could have Shark Pool'd this one but it relates more to my son and fantasy football is just the back drop
When my son entered my life he did not follow the NFL closely and didn't know a thing about FF, I didn't push it on him but he figured out real fast I was busy on Sundays...
He was 17 and into baseball, I did take us to a bunch of baseball games so I could be a part of his life. He quickly returned the favor and got into the Miami Dolphins, the Bucs and FF
I taught him a lot about the NFL from my perspective and how it's better to understand how the teams are constructed and work together vs just reading box scores and social media

That went on for a couple seasons and then he jumped into FF and I just recently joined his start up dynasty league with his friends, we did it auction style, (first time for me) let me tell you what a RUSH!
I bought him an FBG Mag and that was fun reading it together with him but then I decided to buy him an FBG subscription 2 weeks ago so he could overdose on stats and articles...honestly had not bought an FBG subscription in several years

I decided since we were going to be in more leagues this year, many of them together but even when we both aren't signed up, we sit with each other thru every draft, help each other Sun Mornings, my son loves it
I bought him his 1st FBG membership and I got a text today of a screenshot with all the FBG game predictions with the NFL helmets going across
It's quite an experience to compete in multiple leagues together. I can tell he takes pride that we usually are the only Father-Son team competing
This past year, I let him do most of the picks for my oldest redraft league, going back almost 30 years.

These past 2-3 weeks in Redraft season have been special. He just had his 1st child, my granddaughter, she is almost 2 months and will be wearing her little Miami Dolphins outfit on Sunday
I wanted to thank Footballguys for giving us an easy gift for each other to share and have an amazing experience all season long

I wanted to show my appreciation. I could have sent a PM to Joe but there's a lot more folks that bring this site to life everyday
I know I'm not alone. I'm sure there are others who feel the same
It's another way for my son and I to connect and be involved with each other, hard to put a price on something like that.

Cheers Everybody

How does he feel about music?
He pretty much hates the 90s house, breaks and electro my wife and I like to play at home but he also is very respectful that the vinyl sessions are a way for my wife and I to connect and keepour relationship strong, again I am a very lucky man.

He does like music, I can't stand anything new on the radio but he also likes Classic Rock so that gives us a way to connect on music.

I was asking just in case he wanted to join in a music thread. Could be something for both of you to enjoy.

So happy for you MOP. I see a of broken families and awfulness in my profession so it genuinely makes me so happy for you and proud of you that you have a bond with your son. That's no gimme after so many years (regardless as to why those years occurred).

You're the man from my perspective today.

let me tell you what a RUSH!
yeah, auction is way more fair than a snake redraft and the draft is more exciting. Was this your first time doing an auction draft?
Yes it was. Also first dynasty league where I got to start from scratch, not inheriting someone else's team
Oh did I mention it's also my first Superflex, yeah so I had my work cut out for me

-The only downside is that once that initial auction is over, you don't get another rush like the one we had.
Of the GMs, only one had ever done an auction prior and he's the Commish so I felt pretty good that I wouldn't get run over by a bunch of 25 yr olds

-I am going to seek out an auction redraft next season, perhaps several because I learned very quickly how powerful it is once everyone blows their budget on like 3-4 players.
You miss out on a lot of top tier talent but you build a much stronger foundation by waiting and collecting a lot of value.
I have way too many young WRs including 2-3 rookies like Egbuka and Golden, my senior WRs would include Sutton and JAMO so I might start sending out trade offers

Anyone who reads my SP posts/threads knows that I typically crack jokes about dynasty and encourage people not to listen to them when they are trying to strategize for Redrafts
Two totally different mindsets but now I'm officially a hypocrite and understand why folks go deep diving on 4th and 5th WRs on the depth charts

To have the opportunity to take any player you want as long as you are willing to pony up, incredible.
The Sleeper App worked very well for us, we clocked in at about 2.5 hours, many of us were expecting it to go much longer, the app kept things moving

We had a drafter waste like 2/3 of their budget on 3 players this year and only had $30ish bucks left (we use $200).

Going into the Auction i decided I was going to walk out with 1 of the higher rated QBs so we had $250 to use and I spent $72 on Burrow but after like 30-40 player nominations all I had was Burrow and the rest of them had several players or parts of their starting line up but I had money to burn down the stretch

I also made a decision that I would not go past a certain price point on RBs, say $40 max and all the top ones were fetching $50-$60+ easily
Once the money dried up for most of the other GMs, I started nominating rookie WRs and paying half of what their projections were. i paid maybe $10 for Golden, $12 for Egbuka
Then I managed to get Baker under $20 and Murray close to $10 to play match ups for my S/Flex spot

I had so much fun, it was like being on a rollercoaster and the first thing you want to do when you get to the end is ride again

it's so neat hearing that you enjoyed your first auction.
