I bet they cut McNabb this week and burn the 40 million. Classic Redskins!
maybe they can draft 3 wr with there 1st round picks for the next 3 years to. :(
:lmao: at Lions fans talking trash.
Not a fan of either team, but Lions fans should be much happier than Skins fans. Better young talent in Detroit, BY FAR! The future looks much better in Motown than in DC.

Whatever. Not sold on Stafford and his shoulders are made of plastic. Best is overrated. They have Calvin and Sue and I like their coach but they're still the Lions until proven otherwise.
this team is miles better than last year. you should be thanking him not berating him.
It's not like he's only owned the team for a year or 2. He's been the owner for over 10 years and has made bad decision after bad decison. Redskins fans who were alive during the Jack Kent Cooke era, and even one's that weren't, have EVERY right to berate him continuously.

Has an NFL team ever been stuck with two worse contracts than the Redskins with McNabb/Haynesworth? Maybe there have been bigger single contracts (Jake Delhomme comes to mind), but I don't think anything could ever top the 1-2 punch of Donovan & Albert.

It's $81 million in guaranteed money. And neither player will be anywhere close to a Pro Bowler in 2 years.

The commentators were saying how the deal is incentive laden, weren't they? I think they said he's only guaranteed something like 10 Mill? If that's the case, it's not a terrible deal for an above-average QB. People are living in the moment but McNabb isn't terrible and I don't think the 'Skins would be at .500 without him.

it was just horrible timing to announce McNabb's ginormous contract hours before the game with the Eagles. I think that was the only reason the Eagles blew them out. It was all about motivation.

Well the Skins are looking at a string of 7-9 seasons, and have won how many playoff games in the past ten years? Last division championship was when? You are also sitting on perhaps the worst newer professional sports stadium, that place is awful. Good luck to you and yours.

At least Snyder didn't build that stadium. It was called the Big Jack at one time, remember?

All I remember was sitting in the upper deck of that piece of crap on a cold day and the binoculars didn't help because there was a bunch of people dressed up in pig masks and capes around me blocking my view.

Agree with the OP though, I'd be pissed to if I was a Skins fan. The McNabb signing makes no sense whatsoever.
Actually it makes PERFECT sense as it's not like they have a young QB of the future ready to take over the team.Having a VETERAN QB like McNabb buys the franchise time to find a future QB.Keep in mind that the Redskins don't have the kind of weapons that a team like the Eagles/Cowgirls/Giants have. They're a better team this year than they were last year.

wish we had Vick instead... :kicksrock: but so do 30 other teams in the NFL.
The following teams likely don't want Vick:* Indianapolis* New England* New OrleansI don't think San Diego would dump Rivers for Vick, either.Edit: Unless you mean just have on the roster. Then yeah, every team would make room for him, even as a backup.

Pretty sure you could add the Jets/Giants/Browns/Falcons to that list unless it's as a backup QB

I seem to recall that Cook had the stadium plans drawn up in the 70s (remember when he was gonna move to Laurel?) and never updated them from that 70s, enclosed-bowl, pack-in-as-many-as-you-can design when they got around to building the Raljon stadium.

XIf the deal was really 40 mil guaranteed, like Mort and many others have said McNabb would have signed the day it was laid in front of him. It has been on the table for a long time. People are going ape #### over this 40 mil and it's been said over and over the Skins can get out of the deal as early as one year. Bruce Allen does not equal Vinny Cerrato.

You poor SOB Redskin fans actually think your team is going to be good at the beginning of each season. We Lion fans know better. Our nemesis is gone, yours owns the team!

Ok, I didn't read that. Do you have a link?

 I would take Schwartz, Stafford, Calvin, Suh as the core of my team over Shanny, McNabb, [insert WR name], and Haynesworth, and it's not close. One team is on the way up, and the other is drowning but deluding itself into thinking it's Michael Phelps.

$40 million guaranteed.
You have to remember that one of the competitive advantages (and perhaps a fatal temptation) of the Redskins is that they have money to burn as one of the most profitable sports franchises in the world. There are very few sports franchises anywhere who can even remotely compete with them in terms of spendable (burnable?) cash. This isn't Ralph Wilson counting his pennies and saving up for a gumball at the local drug store. Everyone's moaning over this guaranteed $40M. For me as a 'Skins fan, my reaction is, "So what?" Even if McNabb never played another down, that $40M wouldn't affect anything they were doing or then had to do in terms of personnel or operations.

Anyway, it's certainly fair to assert they got poor bang for their buck, but if you're arguing financial ramifications for the team due to guaranteed money, don't. It just doesn't apply to this team . . . which may lead to a lack of accountability for stupid personnel decisions that is part of their problem.

Agreed. The contract amount doesn't hurt the team. You can make a valid argument, though, that the trading of a 2nd and a 4th round pick for him hurt the team since they need so much rebuilding.
