Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (ankle) could have practiced Monday, Sept. 29, if there had been a practice, according to head coach Andy Reid.

The versatile Westbrook, who led the NFL with a franchise-record 2,104 total yards from scrimmage last season while earning his second trip to the Pro Bowl, has 161 yards rushing, 46 receiving and five touchdowns.

:bye: Separate thread each week, please.

Reid actually said THE OPPOSITE of what is in the original post:

The head coach said running back Brian Westbrook has been feeling better but would not have been able to practice Monday had there been a session. Westbrook's status with his ankle strain remains day-to-day.

Seriously. As a Westy owner, if the right offer came along for him, I would take it, even if I had to take a little drop in value. I was left with Booker this week and I got my ### kicked. The original trade was more than fair Billy Boy. Stop making yourself look like a fool.

Seriously? Trades don't have to be fair. If you're really that good, they're lopsided in your favor. They don't have to be fair. They just have to be collusion-free.

Let. It. Go.

LOL...you can say that again!! Consider it dropped!! Until next time....when the guy trades away Peyton Manning for Kyle Orton.

Joking aside, you do realize that you can't veto a Manning for Orton trade either, right? Because if you think you should, you've missed everyone's point.(For the record, Manning is averaging just 1.2 more fantasy points per game than Orton so far...)

Sweet Jesus. You started your original thread wanting everyone to join in your calls for tar and feathers. Maybe you should actually listen to everyone when they said that's not an unreasonable deal. And quit whining and go rob that guy yourself. Sheesh.

Orton's only averaging 2.5 less points per week than Manning is. It's not as lopsided as you think

i don't think he has any idea...after about 50 posts pretty much all repeating the same thing - the opposite of what he so badly wanted to read.

First of all, you guys need to realize that what you say is an opinion as well...nothing more. So if you say a trade is fair, it's just your opinion. An opinion that I asked for and very much appreciate, but do not appreciate these ad hominem comments about me personally. None of you know me. My teams are 7-1 in my two leagues, and the league I commish is fun, fair, and competitive (and there has never been one trade vetoed yet)Second, not sure if everyone is riled up because of the trade OR the thought of me vetoing the trade. I am not vetoing any trades here. I am just stating that it sucks when a one-sided trade swings the balance of power in the league. Particularly, when the guy getting westy was laughing about the trade going in...saying that he, "hope the moron would bite!"

Third, everyone is saying Westy/Slaton is fair....and now Manning/Orton is fair. So now I'm supposed to believe that a Peyton Manning and Brian Westbrook FOR Steve Slaton and Kyle Orton is fair.

Fourth, I would like to thank each person who has voiced his/her opinion in a respectful, comical, and/or witty fashion. But for you cavemen who start your post with statements like "Guys like you"...then move on from my question and bash someone else because they disagree with your opinion.

You have so obviously missed the point, it's bordering on hilarity. Everyone that was arguing against vetoing the trade was making basically the same argument you just made. It's all a matter of opinion. Your opinion on the value of the player in no way gives you the right to veto a trade based on the opinion of someone else. There is only one instance where a trade should be vetoed and that is where one owner says.... I'm not winning this year anyway, so I'll give you a better chance to win(to another owner). This is collusion and only in this instance should a trade ever be vetoed.

You phrased your original thread very, very poorly if your only intent was to say it sucks to have the balance of power shifted when you play with an idiot. It came across as you being a whiny owner who was incapable of pulling off any steals yourself.

And again - it is not a matter of what is or what isn't fair. It's whether or not something is collusion. Fair's got nothing to do with it.

Last time I checked, even your original thread was not straight up Westy for Slaton (which is arguably fair anyway), but rather Westy/Roy for Slaton/Edwards. There is a big difference in these two trades in my estimation (I think most would agree), and the more times you bring this up the worse it is making you look.

My teams are 7-1 in my two leagues, and the league I commish is fun, fair, and competitive (and there has never been one trade vetoed yet)Your original post came across as arrogance and you were literally arguing with anyone who thought the trade was fair. Also, what does you being 7-1 in 2 leagues have to do with anything?

Second, not sure if everyone is riled up because of the trade OR the thought of me vetoing the trade. I am not vetoing any trades here. I am just stating that it sucks when a one-sided trade swings the balance of power in the league. Particularly, when the guy getting westy was laughing about the trade going in...saying that he, "hope the moron would bite!"

Actually you opened up your original post with "Is this fair? If not, what is the protocol for not approving this......majority league vote?" Thus, your intention all along was to veto this trade.

Third, everyone is saying Westy/Slaton is fair....and now Manning/Orton is fair. So now I'm supposed to believe that a Peyton Manning and Brian Westbrook FOR Steve Slaton and Kyle Orton is fair.

Please define "everyone" for me. And why do you constantly leave out the rest of the equation in that trade (i.e. Braylon for Roy)? Also, everyone is claiming that Manning for Orton is fair? Again, you'll need to define 'everyone" for me. TIA.

Fourth, I would like to thank each person who has voiced his/her opinion in a respectful, comical, and/or witty fashion. But for you cavemen who start your post with statements like "Guys like you"...then move on from my question and bash someone else because they disagree with your opinion.

Is referring to another poster as a "caveman" respectful?

If I wanted to veto trade, the trade would already be vetoed.

The deal is this: I have a majority of the league upset and calling for veto....and minority saying all trades should pass. Just trying to make some peace here with $1000 at stake. The main problem is we don't have a hard and fast rule to cover this situation. That is why I was asking if perhaps a league vote would be the best option.

So I come on here...asking for some advice to remedy the situation...and all I get is a bunch of guys angry at me. If you don't have some advice to help with THIS situation....then post elsewhere.

:kicksrock:

i get it. everyone ELSE should post elsewhere because you didn't get the answer you wanted! so freakin' good!

Well, let me be more specific BLAKE. I don't want YOU posting any more responses to these questions. You are not helpful..only inflammatory.

Anyone who protests the trade should blind tender a better offer to the commish for the same players.

I'm kidding. Tell them there's no collusion and to get over it.

It may be BS...so what is the protocol to calm down the natives??
Do you have any league rules that discuss trade veto? In a league I commish, I have final say over all trades. The league has entrusted me with that authority. I have never veto'd a trade. If there is no provision in the rules now for a league vote, don't even offer it as an option or something to discuss. Every league I've seen with league approval effectively turns into a no trade league. It works like this... the best trades are the ones that improve both teams involved. The other owners now get the opportunity to decide if these 2 owners get better, making their competition harder, or they can veto and give themselves a better shot at a title and the money. At the end of the day, if you can look at each roster and make an objective argument of how the trade will make your team better, there is nothing to discuss. Actually, if there is no collusion, there is nothing to discuss ( in terms of veto ). But regarding the "fairness" of a trade, all it has to do is improve your team, based on your opinions of the players involved. The protocol to calm the natives it to tell them the deal is agreed to by 2 owners that believe this makes their team better, and to manage their own team. In other words, shut the hell up.

from now on try making the trade on the table between 2 teams public news and offer the opportunity for the other teams to make offers also :goodposting: not saying its a good idea ...just an idea

Billy I gave you advice last night... LET IT GO!

But after another 500 posts of 500 others telling you the same thing I tried to tell you

my NEW ADVICE TO YOU IS.

1. BAN ALL TRADES IN YOUR LEAGUE!

(most my hi stakes are no trades allowed just for this reason)

2. If you can't ban all trades AT LEAST MAKE IT A NONE TRADE VETO LEAGUE!

YOUR OPINIONS ARE SCREWED! And if you say your league has a problem with it so is you league mates!

I;d trade you westy for slaton right now without any beef at all. and if you own Roy and I own Edwards your welcome to throw that in too! I have a league with Westy he killed me last year and hes killing me now. Slaton is carrying me now in several leagues! As for the receiver part of it they both suck!

I have a majority of the league upset and calling for veto....

Thanks for the advice. I have informed the league that the trade will go through as proposed...even though some members are now plotting some kind of rebellious coup d’état in protest. Man, I feel like I'm on the Hill trying to organize this economic bailout or something. The problem is that this league has combined some better players from two separate leagues (a pseudo-allstar league....each of whom are used to doing things differently).... and there were no hard and fast trade veto rules in place before the season. But thanks for all of your opinions. I think the bottom line is that each person has the right to control his/her team however he/she sees fit. It's just a case of the rights of the individual conflicting with the wants of the many. How any league can ever "prove" collusion is beyond me! Perhaps another topic for another day....Best to all.

Someone oughta change the subtitle of this thread as it's as wrong as could possibly be. I don't know what this trade business is all about, but I am glad I opened the thread otherwise I'd have thought Westy was able to practice today. Which he wasn't.

Your fixation with me has to stop. Anyway, dont' you and the other tri-lambs have a wiffleball tourney or something. Leave this football stuff to the big boys.....

ah yes, claim i have a fixation on you, when you're busy tucking your tail between your legs and running when proven wrong. oh and let's not forget the tired "leave this to the big boys" quote, hoping so hard to be condescending! keep vetoing billjohnson - you keep showing who the big boys are!
