That ONE player who KILLS you each time ... (1 Viewer)

:hophead: Laveraneus Coles :banned:

Guy has been lighting me up for years. It seems like each time I face him, he's good for (at least) a C-note and a score. The guy has his best games when I'm facing him. In two big $ locals this year, I faced him 4 times ... I'm 10-4 in both (combined 20-8 ... duh) ... but 0-4 vs. the Coles owners.

Think I would've wised up and drafted this guy by now ... next year, I snag him.

Anyone else have that perennial "thorn in the side" ?

ETA: I face him this week in one semifinal.

Coles owners ... START HIM WITH CONFIDENCE!!!

LT is hardly a thorn, more like jackhammer outside your window at 6 AM.

Joe Horn has killed me a few times over the years.

should be alot of votes for LT
Guess I should've elaborated a bit more ... because you expect guys like LT, LJ, SAlex, SJax, Ocho, Marvin/Wayne, T.O. , Holt, SSmith, Boldin/Fitz (etc., etc., etc... ) to give you problems. But, a guy like Coles is not considered a "stud" by any means. Usually the Coles owner I face has a dynamite #1 paired with him (see list above). So, to better convey the thought process in my OP ... the "less than stud" player who bites your #### every year ... ? :banned: COLES :banned: And I'm facing him in one semifinal this week, Cotchery in another. The J-E-T-S JETSJETSJETS running game has been paltry all year, and now that meager ground force is facing a team (Minnesota) which boasts the stingiest run defense in close to 4 decades. :pickle:

Matt Stover. We lose pts in our league for misses. Dude hasn't missed many FGs this year, but everytime he has, guess who started him and lost by the margin a successful kick would have given me?

Last year I also had him when he missed 3 or 4 in one game. He's a menace to FF teams.

Back in the day, Terance Mathis used to light my team up. Dude ruined at least two seasons where I would've won a title. O.J. McDuffie for some reason as well (I remember he hadn't scored a TD in almost two years when he decided to go off for well over 100 yds and a pair of TDs).

Current players I can't stand facing include Willie Parker (dude is vicious when he plays against my team), Plax (he waits til the week after I play him to sulk and/or have a crappy game), and Houshmandzadeh. McNabb (or any crappy Philly WR someone starts against me) destroys me as well. I really can't stand Brett Favre either. He's been a big disappointment whenever I've had him on a team but an absolute dagger in the heart against me.

I've had good luck going against Vick-whether or not he's a good QB is a debate for another forum but I haven't been stung by any of those huge rushing games.....YET.

Mike Vick

I went 11-2 this year and both loses were due to vick having career days!!!!

I hate him!!

McNabb's owned me a few times over the years. Especially tough considering how often he's been hurt the last few seasons - I kept getting him at just the right time.

Hence, I did not shed a tear when he went down this year.

Seems like everytime i play against him, Rudi Johnson goes off for a buck and 2tds. Absolutly killed me last week, and him having fwp didnt help!

This is a cliched answer, but Marshall Faulk.

There was a stretch where he AVERAGED 3 tds a game against me over 4 or 5 straight games. Knocked me out of big games too.

I think I've faced Lee Evans for at least one big game each of the last 3 seasons. This season I faced both CJ and Lee that week. Ouch.

Going back, mine was Shannon Sharpe. 3 consecutive years he burned me with 3 TD, C note games.

Present time, Santana moss seems to have taken the baton from him...3 TD games last 2 seasons against me..

Santana Moss, dating all the way back to 2003. His 'breaking out' game in which he caught 3TD passes ... yea, I was playing the guy who had him, who had just acquired him via trade. Adding insult to injury I am a Jets fan, and I had Pennington on the bench. Was a bad week ...

Every year it seems the guy goes nuts when I'm playing the Santana Moss owner. Check the only two games this year where he had good stats ... yup, against me. :goodposting:

Ni

Lee Evans

Last year I had him in a few leagues, and dropped him by the time he started heating up.

Got him again in 2 leagues this year, and I will always miss his one or 2 big games he has every year :goodposting:

MYSELF! (Over coaching)

The one Guy I hate to facing is Peyton Manning because I have Harrison and Wayne, so his 1 guy equals my 2. (I play him this week)

It's been Drew Brees for me this year. In our scoring system he put up 58 last week. Enough to beat me by 3 points.

Cost me me the #1 seed and dropped me to #3.

I still won total points, but by record It dropped me to #3

Two seasons ago, Drew Bennett's late season surge ruined more fantasy seasons then any other single player in a single season that I can remember.

Good times for me ... rode Volek to my league's SB that year ... then it ALL FIZZLED OUT on Christmas eve in the chill of Denver. Volek was nicked, and yanked after 1 quarter. End of season ... but one hell of a ride.

Actually, this guy did kill me two years ago. I went into the playoffs with a 13-1 record and set a league record for points scored in a season. My team was unreal. The guy who owned Drew Bennet was getting killed the last week of our regular season in a game in which the winner advanced to the playoffs and the loser was out; we were all congratulating his opponent on making the playoffs, he was winning that convincingly ... the other guy had only Drew Bennet left on Monday night. Well Bennet went psycho and the Bennet owner wound up winning. The next week he played me ... same thing - Bennet knocked me out. I had the best FF team I've seen in a long time and was killed by this twerp. Bennet fell down to earth the following week and the guy lost the FF Super BowlNi

Drew Brees has demolished me for 2 years now.

I always manage to play him the week he puts up monster weeks.

I played him this year his 2 huge weeks.

I know he's been putting up big numbers all year but it's been incredible everytime I play him

Fast Willie Parker killed me every time I played him this year.........

suprisingly I was able to beat the LT owner all 3 times I played him this year, including last week's playoff matchup.

I hate to play P. Manning, Coles, Housh and the Bears D. I play every one of them this week. I dont have a good feeling.

For me it used to be Ken Dilger.

I remeber he threw a meaningless TD at the end of game to beat me by 2 point in the playoffs.

Recently.....

Lee Evans

Can't forget the safeties on the Dallas Cowboys...bums cost me survivor pools in back-to-back years and allowed Reggie Bush to skate past them last week.

I have 3 players that I always pick up for a bye week and they do nothing for me, even with a good matchup.

Carolina D

Lee Evans

Jerramy Stevens

Then I drop them, the go to someone else's roster, and inevitably that week Lee Evans catches 2 TD's for 150 yds, Jerramy Stevens gets in the end zone, and the Carolina D puts up like 20 points. Yet for me, these 3 stink. It's like fools gold. Whenever I have Evans, he puts up a 1-13 and Stevens puts up like a 1-7 with a fumble and couple drops. This year I actually had a sequence where I picked up Stevens, he did nothing, dropped him, he caught a TD, picked him up again, did nothing, dropped him, scored a TD. :(

6 friggin' minutes still left in the first half ... and Coles is ALREADY at 8-86-1.Every damn time ... unreal.

As an Evans owner, 3 times over, all I'll say is get used to it. He's among the most inconsistent in the game. Not because of talent or dropping balls really, just a matter of his QB throwing his way. If Losman had time to set up, and improved his accuracy, Evans will be a beast. I'll list Evans and Roy Williams as guys that kill me, but they're on my team. Inconsistent ubertalent.
