I need to know what you think will be the 10 worst rushing defenses this season. If you can list 10 in no particular order...or order them if you want.

Mine so far would be...

Buffalo

Washington

Tampa Bay

Arizona

Kansas City

Indy

Cleveland

That's 7 so far to pop up in my head. What you got?

Edited to add both the BYG and NYJ

I'd definitely add the Rams, Titans maybe the Texans and Seahawks.

Indy and Cincinnati are going to be bad. Again. Chicago will get gashed for some big runs at times as well despite having a good overall unit...

I would put the Giants on this list until they prove otherwise. The DTs are below average, the DEs are pass rushers way before they are run stoppers (although Tuck has a chance to be a good run stopper) and they have 1 very good LB (Pierce), 1 mediocre LB and 1 totally unproven and inexperienced LB with very little quality depth at LB.

Buffalo. Poz might finish with 3,456 tackles this year. Too bad they'll be 7 yards down the field after he shakes off 2 OL.

Seattle always has trouble against the run.

Probably should put Houston and the Giants on there as well.

:( Cincy's rush defense is not very good. I don't know if I would put them in the bottom 7 but they belong in the bottom 10.

Last year the rushing per game average went up by something like 45 yards when Marcus Tubbs went out. If he stays healthy the rush D will be solid.

I'm a homer, but Indy's run D will be a lot better than people think this season. They've given up 2.7 yards a carry in the pre-season - last pre-season they gave up 5.5 yards a carry.

Big Time Rams fan her and I have to say the Rams have to be in the bottom 5.
Yeah, they are going to get ran on all day. Particularly with Alexander, Frank the Tank and Edge in their division NO, Balt and Atl are either run first teams or teams with great running games and are on the Rams Schedule...This is the reason a guy like Rudi Johnson is someone you shouldn't sleep on. He plays from weeks 14-16, Rams, 9ers, and Browns in that order....Cake FFB post season sched

I'm curious what you think has gotten worse about Houston's run defense since last year that you'd think they would fall into the bottom 10?

I caught a few of the Giants preseason games and their run D was pitiful. I can't imagine anybody having a worse run D than the Giants.

I'd remove Washington and Tampa from that list and replace them with Cincy, Sea, and Stl.

I have, from AFC East to NFC West in that order:

Buffalo

Jets

Indy

Tenn

Cleve

OAK <----

Phila

Rams
Is this a typo?
Nope.He said worst rushing def.

Oak is a top Pass def.

Actually half of the worst run Ds are top Pass Ds.
A good amount of rush defense is opportunity. Oak was in the bottom 10 in ypg last year in rush defense but they were actually tied for 11th in the NFL in ypc. Teams simply ran against them more so than any other team in the NFL because Oak was always losing. With an improved offense, I would be VERY surprised if they are in the bottom 10 again this year.MOP-An easy way to do this is to pick the teams that you think will have the 10 worst offenses in football. Odds are that about 5 of them will be among the 10 worst rush defenses in football simply due to number of carries for the other team.

I'll try that.

It's a starting point. From there you can probably weed out some of the teams that don't pass the common sense test. For example, if you think Balt will have one of the worst 10 offenses that still doesn't mean you'd expect them to be in the bottom 10 rush D obviously. It will help you identify some of those teams that may have an average run defense where enough run attempts by the other team will probably push them over the edge. Like an Oakland of last year.

Last year the rushing per game average went up by something like 45 yards when Marcus Tubbs went out. If he stays healthy the rush D will be solid.
Was he playing last nite? I didn't notice, but Jordan gashed them pretty badly last nite. I saw #90 leave the field hurt, but I thought Tubbs was 98 or 99...Seattle guys?

Yes, Tubbs left the field last night (Tubbs is #90), I think in the first quarter. Injury to the right knee (he had surgery on his left knee).http://blogs.thenewstribune.com/seahawks/

The Marcus Tubbs knee injury sounds pretty serious, even possibly career-ending. He was getting scanned during Holmgren's press conference and an official announcement will be made tomorrow morning, but right now I think he is a good candidate for IR. They are unable to place him on the PUP list, is my understanding, because he already was on that and then passed his physical. If they keep him on the active roster, he will be there and not able to contribute. If he goes on IR, he is done for the year and will not have played in almost two years by the time he comes back. Holmgren had this cryptic quote: "He's just one of those players where he's a very talented player who can't get on the field. Call it unlucky. Call it whatever. the injury bug has prevented him from reaching his potential on the field."
This is by Frank Hughes, who is known to stir the pot a little bit. As of right now, there is no real news, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tubbs was done for the year.Seattle drafted a rookie by the name of Brandon Mebane, and he has shown to be a presence in the run defense, but he is young and it is yet to be seen how he will do against first stringers.

Yup, that was Tubbs...Holmgren used words like "significant", "serious" and "unfortunate" while describing it. I thought Tubbs was playing all right but considering he was surrounded by the 2nd team D I wasn't too concerned with the running. Rookie CB Wilson also left hurt though it's considered to be just a hip bruise. He's an extra DB package back and shouldn't be a real issue if he misses a little time.

Could be significant considering Jennings has that deep thigh bruise; those things tend to linger.
