*** The 8-8 San Francisco 49ers - Let's forget 2014 thread *** (1 Viewer)

Two preseason games, I haven't seen much to get excited about. Today's game against the Broncos was flat out full of nothing.
Meh. The team is probably just getting used to the two hour travel on gameday to the new digs.

Uhhhh... 3 points in 2 PS games.

That's really "ok"?
If Kap goes down then all bets are off but until then it's ok for you to calm down on their behalf.

You sure seem to enjoy fluttering around other teams homer threads like a gnat. Please flutter on. Thanks.

First time seeing the new stadium. Big upgrade over Candlestick but what's up with the field? Looks like my yard, not good.

They had to replace it after last week, it was too slippery and loose. They put the new sod in Friday, but they're gonna replace it again after today because its still iffy.

Wow, Kawakami is kinda sensitive. He blocked me out of his Talking Points blog in less than two posts! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I basically said that times must be rough when he has to compete with Bleacher Report and their contributors - most who have never had to earn a credit towards a journalism degree - churning stuff out like his latest on the 49ers.

So far, I'm not blocked out of the Merc section. Even though I posted how Jed York gives him lunch money to write his glowing articles, while Al Davis was too cheap to do that.

THAT'S NOT TRUE KAWAKAMI!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Oh, isn't there a pre-season game on tonight? Is it at home? Will there be more dog abuse from a CEO?

Good things are coming out of the new digs already. Must be that parking lot over the sacred Indian Burial grounds.

I actually think Carradine and Dial can match McDonald's production from last year. That wouldn't be the defense's biggest problem.

Boone coming back will help.

Seems like there is a lack of control within the organization. Hope Roger comes down hard on him....unnexceptable
:lmao:
That new law up in WA must be producing some acceptional bud.
 Well played.

Fully expect Harbaugh to kick McDonald off the team. Above reproach.
@mattbarrows: Harbaugh said there's "no tolerance" for anyone who physically abuses a woman or a child. Says there's no room on his team for that.

@mattbarrows: Still, he said he's also a believer in due process and that process must be "concluded" before we make judgments.

I am beginning to think the 49ers go 8-8 this year and are at the bottom of the nfc west
If SF went 8-8, they'd still finish ahead of the overrated Rams and D-less Cards
Are the Rams overrated? Most talking heads/prognosticators I've heard or read have the Rams finishing fourth in the division. The 49ers have been picked by many to finish in 1st, OTOH.

Good question. Maybe I just read too much of the Rams thread, where the posters are terribly unrealistic. I think Bradford could break an arm, and Bulger2Holt would still have him throwing for 4000 yards behind the "best OL in the league" to the "most athletic group of WRs in the league".

Why's Harbaugh's name even in this sentence?

This is the NFL, not jersey housewives. Please take your weird personal vendetta to webzone or something where you'll likely get more amusing responses.

Not attempting to troll. I like the 49ers and if they weren't in the Hawks division they would be the type of team I'd root for.

Serious question do Niner fans like Harbaugh?

Seriously?

Do SEA fans like Carroll?
When Carroll was hired I was pretty meh. Anyone that tells you otherwise is probably full of it unless they went to USC or something. Not a huge college fan so didn't really know what was going on with him down there other than they were crushing people and then there were guys getting paid. Didn't care about that too much as college football is pretty much a fraud in that regard. Got a cheeseball vibe from him though.

The winning of course makes everything good, but love that way he gets the team to play. His interviews are great and he is an interesting guy. Him and the GM have had an amazing run on personal choices. If the team were just decent I think Carroll could last a bit longer because he is liked.

If the McDonald guy ends up getting charges and gets kicked off the team I'll have a lot of respect for Harbaugh.

Always love the Sea-SF games. Best teams in football.

Not at all. I hate watching the Niners going to NFC Championships/Superbowls. I'd much rather go back to them being 6 - 10 with Singletary's moons....

I highly doubt a personnel decision such as this rests solely in the hands of Harbaugh.

It's amusing that Seattle fans think Harbaugh should be held accountable for the off field transgressions of his players (or vice versa receive credit for discipline handed down from management). He may be the face fo the organization, but he's not the evil puppet master pulling all the strings. That would be like blaming every Seahawk PED violation on Pete Carroll. Do you think that's fair?

Difference I see with Harbaugh is he has gone out of his way to give other teams, namely Seattle crap about their off field stuff, "above reproach" and all that. He also said he has his player's backs in all situations except for putting your hands on women. That's fine to do but opens yourself up to criticism when stuff happens in your house and you then don't back it up.

And, no I don't really blame Carroll or Harbaugh for stuff their players do. These are big boys making their own decisions.

Not a lot of chatter in here
That game made me kinda sick. Similar to how I felt after the Colts game last year.

Think the coaching staff failed to make some critical adjustments in the 2nd half. Ward had no business covering Marshall one on one, that was like taking candy from a baby.

I'm still not quite sure why Gore/Hyde were not used extensively against a team that was worst against the run last year by such a large margin. I understand trying to outsmart them, but I think we outsmarted ourselves in the end.

Kaep played a terrible game. He needs to call out audibles and signals much faster than he does. Hearing him monotously scream "Eighhttttyyy Haaaaht...." 3 times every down is brutal. I was actually kind of hopeful that they got rid of that when they were using a silent snap count in the opener... alas.

That was worse than any loss save the NFC title game for me last year. SF didn't get dominated, which is weirdly easier to stomach, they just absolutely gave the game away to an inferior team. Ugh. Kaepernick needs to get it together.

Penalties killed them too. The one on Gores 50+ yd TD was the biggest.

so..... i do not believe that there is a conspiracy going on. are the 49ers this undisciplined this year or are they getting hosed? seems like the defense starts off very strong then, what- gets tired and sloppy by giving up bad 3rd and long penalties that prolong drives? almost lost to dallas in similar fashion.

Watching this game and the no calls and then the crap called against the niners last two weeks is night and day. Ridiculous

Combination of a few really, really bad calls and mostly poor discipline, I think.

Did they really suspend broadcaster for 2 games Ted Robinson for his remarks about the Ray Rice issue? This, after letting Ray Mac play due to "due process"?

This along with the Aldrunk situation of last season makes Jed York look like an idiot.

I am sticking with my 8-8 prediction I made in the preseason.

This is a team on the downside and imho it has to do with 3 reasons

1. Kaep just isn't that good. Without a D the 49ers are going to have find a way to put up 500 yards of O and that just isn't going to happen

2. There are no big play guys on O or D

3. Harbough's ego....the 49ers draft so many 'experiments'. Trade for guys like gabbert etc...

I'd rather ego over Jimmy Ward.
