There are many simple things that we have all learned through our own hardknocks that seem simple but many dont know.  I am sure there is a site like this but this one will be fgb certified.

Looking for simple stuff, like,  invest in your 401k up to the employer match to stuff like look at your funds with your employer and what is the expense ratio on the funds and is our 401k advisor a fiduciary.

Crap like that on all levels.

We can't change politics but we can invest time and effort on leading people down the right path.

Another thing is get rid of sat or cable, you can get PS Vue which is an app.  No equipment or dvd charges, and 35 dollars a month.

Another thing is that you won't here is healthcare, no matter how bad or good of a client you are, Medicare kicks in at 65 so as long as they make a profit before then, they dont care about you.  If you never had problems total win, if you have problems later, total win.  Think about that.

If your net worth is over a half-million, a million-dollar umbrella insurance policy is the best $200 you'll ever spend.

The USBank Cash+ Visa card lets you select categories for extra cash-back bonuses. Some, like grocery stores, max at 2%, but there's several where you can get 5% cash back, including bookstores. All purchases at Amazon.com automatically categorize as "bookstore", giving you an option for 5% cash back on just about anything you can buy.
Unpack as a family we do easliy, but she has a retirement too.

In my family every pay check that comes in we have a set dollar amount that goes into side accounts. So our bank account looks like this.

Savings 1.1

Checkings

Savings account 2.1: House

Savings account 2.2: Vacation

We have like 8 side accounts, and each week we transfer the money over. It works well to help us not over spend, and when we need/want to fix something on the house we don't have to rework the budget. We also have a side accounts for personal hobbies, vacations, house, cars, retirement, kids, and our boat.

We've thought about setting it up like this.  Right now we have a savings/checking account and a short term investment account (along with retirement and education) but haven't gotten into that level  detail. Do you find it that much more worthwhile than just using a budgeting form / tool?

Never used a budgeting tool, this works for us and we have done for the last 10 or so years. It started out with just 5 accounts, we added the boat account when we started thinking about a getting a boat and 2 years later we had a nice down payment for it, we started the kid account when I got pregnant and the retirement accounts when we got a little more comfortable. Our first 5 years of marriage/dating we lived pay check to pay check and usually the checks were gone a couple days after we got them.
