Becca or JoJo were probably the only considerations for the next Bachelorette. In the end JoJo's jojos won out in addition to the ratings that will ensue from the camera time that her creepy family will get on multiple occasions. For Ben, thought it all turned out well for him. Both family's on stage with about 5 minutes left tells me that there was no way to try to spin drama. Dude might actually marry. Laughable to see ABC march out Ben's pastor. Hey our sponsors pay a lot of money to send you on group roustabouts and trysts with scantly clad 20 somethings. The least we expect you to do is endure the unending stress that we can put on you in the name of drama.

So, the Bachelorette has taken either the 3rd or 4th place runner up from the Bachelor like clockwork for years (only exception was that hot blonde chick who picked Jeff with one F).

Faced with a minority and a divorced mother of 2, they decided to break the mold and go with 2nd place.  Which is awkward for the audience, since not 45 minutes from seeing her profess her undying love to Ben, she's revealed as the next Bachelorette.

The producers must really not want to have minorities in the main role.  I guess Juan Pablo ruined it for them all.
Jojo is even more of a bold choice though, since her mom is Iranian. Huge national security risk.

Though not a minority per the U.S. census, JoJo is ethnic given that she is half Persian.

edit: See now that it's already been pointed out.

I love how they say "Persian" so it sounds less threatening, like a rug. Her breasts are probably packed full of enriched uranium.

Caila was the first choice for Bachelorette but she apparently dropped out at the last minute.  They had no choice but to go with Jojo.

All my life people have called me persian. Iranian and persian are very interchangeable and it doesn't mean anyone is trying to downplay anything.

My wife said that the initial reaction to Caila as the next bachelorette was so negative that the producers cut her last minute and went with JoJo.

But hey, never know, women.... :oldunsure:

According the "Reality Steve", they had already filmed Caila's intro and then at the last minute because public backlash was so high, they told her they were changing their minds and going with Jojo. :lmao:   That's pretty sleazy.

Don't they first ask the woman if she wants to do it before announcing it? Jojo seemed surprise last night. If she really doesn't want to do it then that would be an embarrassment to back out after it's announced.

This makes a lot of sense.  When they did Women Tell All, it seemed obvious that they were pushing Caila as the next Bachelorette.  When Chris had her over to the couch to talk, there was tepid applause and he kept playing it up saying things like, "You have a lot of fans" and "You're really popular."  Think they figured out that wasn't true.

In retrospect the way she answered all the questions before the announcement it was clear this was all set up.  I will believe none of this show is ever scripted before I believe Jojo was surprised by the announcement.

I just want to see Ben get his deserved comeuppance for telling two women he was in love with them and not deciding between them until the day he proposed to one. He's being let off too easy. The closest he got to even being called out on it was when JoJo said he shouldn't have told her he loved her on the walk to the limo.

Ben is the best Bachelor the show has ever seen and is above such criticisms. Maybe he loved Lauren so much that some of it spilled over onto Jojo. That happened to me once at my cousin's bachelor party. Both women were well compensated for their efforts and there were no complaints, I can assure you.

If you meet a woman in a dimly lit bar and she says she's Persian, 20% of the time she is Iranian, 80% of the time she's a transitioning male of unknown ethnic origins.  Fact.

If you think that Ben honestly didn't have his mind made up before the final day (and honestly, I'd wager WEEKS before), then I'm not sure what to tell you.  Lauren had this thing locked up long ago.

Two more things...Ben certainly shouldn't have told Jojo that he loved her.  But it was likely his best fantasy suite play, so there's that.

Also, Caila would have been a horrible choice as the bachelorette.  She's a dud.

Yes, his best play on a reality show with millions of viewers who believe he's better than Jesus, John Lennon and Ghandi rolled into one is to use deception to have sex with one of the contestants who probably was giving it up anyway.

This may have already been mentioned in this thread, but is there any way that Ben went "off script" and told Lauren that he loved her... basically requiring a second "I love you" to JoJo?  If he had said it to Lauren and then not to JoJo and/or Caila, it would have been pretty darn obvious who he was going to pick.  Yeah, give me a break... loving two girls pretty much equally, or at least close enough where you still don't know the morning of?  Stop.  He knew a long time ago, messed the script up with Lauren and the producers told him that he they had to now work the "I love two women" angle.  Or, heck, that angle could have been pre-determined before the show even kicked off.

You seem to be a bit up in arms about it?  I didn't quite expand on my thoughts enough.  Other than the "I love you" not hurting his fantasy suite experience, I believe it happened primarily for one of two reasons.  Most likely, I think he did love Jojo. But not like Lauren, whom it was clear he was smitten with from day 1.  More like a super hot best friend that he grew to truly appreciate, and likely began falling for a bit more than he thought he would.

Or, as Nirad said, though he wasn't supposed to he dropped the L bomb on Lauren which prompted the producers to get him to drop it on Jojo as well.  I think this is far less likely, as any Lauren L bomb could have simply been edited out by the producers and thus wouldn't have required one to Jojo.

Not a single Jojo gif in here. . . . . .

If he screwed up the script, couldn't the producers have simply edited that part out?

Knowing how this show is produced, its more likely they told him to go ahead and say the i love you's to both women.
That wouldn't surprise me. They probably figured it would make for great television and Ben was beloved enough to be able to survive what was obviously a #### maneuver.

I know Jubilee would have been great as the bachelorette, but she very much has a bachelor in paradise feel to her. She will be a total trainwreck at the beach. Awesome.

I think Lauren knew what was going on here.  When they had the final 3 ceremony and that girl had already been eliminated, Lauren said something to the effect that Ben might love both women.

It makes you wonder just how sleazy the producers are.  If a bachelor came to them halfway through a season saying he 100% has made his choice and was ready to send all the other women home, I'm sure this would be "unacceptable" for purposes of the show, but I wonder what they'd do.

We probably saw it.    For the past few seasons, I've checked out the winner in advance.  Gives you a different dynamic watching the show and makes Otis' and BB's posts highly entertaining.  :D     It was pretty obvious Lauren was it from very early on. He shipped out many before they reached that episodes ceremony.  Lauren was also very calm in most shows and any issues she had  seemed a little contrived.

I bet Lauren B isn't half the tiger in the sack that JoJo is!  Leave it to Bible Verse Ben to screw that up. I'm sure he'll be fantasizing about that night with JoJo in the fantasy suite during all his lackluster Lauren B missionary sessions.

Okay, I'm way too invested in this. On the upside, we get a whole season of JoJo now!

Well, if he agreed to tell JoJo he loved her and lead her on like that just because the producers wanted it, that makes him bigger scum than anyone imagined.

They probably paid her nicely for going along with it and then again for the next show.  She didn't seem that pissed off either.

I think she kept it together well, but she said he shouldn't have told her that. I think she genuinely felt lead on by his expression of love.

My daughters called me to meet them for a beer  yesterday and of course the bar is jammed for St Pats when my one daughter says "I think that is Lauren H from the Bachelor standing next to us at the bar"  We were all jammed in and next thing you know my daughters are shooting the chit with her. Lauren H was so nice and fun to talk to about the show.  Said when she got booted and got into the limo the camera was not working so they she had to get out and then get back in..said it was about a 10 minute lapse and the producer said "Are you still going to be able to cry?"

Since The Bachelor she quit her teaching job and now works for one of the hot shot realtors in Metro-Detroit.

My wife and I were out to dinner in Providence with friends last night on Federal Hill and popped into the ale house that used to be a steak house.  Jared pops up and asks us if we want a table, my wife seemed surprised he was back at his old job.  I asked her WTF did she think he would be doing?

I heard Aaron Rodgers' younger brother is on the Bachelorette filming now and a front runner. Reports of chemistry when seen on dates with the lady. Bang on those Jojo's little Rodgers!
