I would have bet that she wouldn't give a rose to either Ben or Michael. Michael came off as truly hate-able. What a tool. I'm just shocked she kept him.

She totally gave away who she ends up picking last night at some point. I'm convinced she already has her mind made up on the dude she wants.

I am amazed at how un-self-aware Michael was. For someone whose job is to play to a jury, he wasn't even watching Des to see her reaction. It wasn't until Ben left the room that he realized he

had lost the Jury. Ultimately, I think Des realized that Ben, while cute, did not have much to him. I mean how many times can he tell her how much he misses his son? That gets old quickly.

My odds on the remaining bachelors:

James: Based on previews, he gets found out about why he is really on the bachelorette and I think Des boots him fast: 100-1

Kasey and Drew: While these are nice guys, I don't sense a spark between Des and them. That and outing James could do them in: 25-1

Michael: While he hurt himself last night, Des saw that he was a jerk, and she still kept him around. She sees something in him. Still a longshot though: 20-1

Juan Pablo: Des obviously has the hots for this guy, but I think that the language barrier will ultimately prevent them from having a long-term connection: 10-1

Chris: Seems like too nice a guy to have a shot, but I sense that Des likes something about him. Could be a darkhorse: 5-1

Zak: Has the best personality of the bunch and this will take him far. He is different and unpredictable which Des likes. Definitely will make final four with final two likely: 3-1

Brooks: Des seems very attracted to him and he seems to have a personality as well. At this point he is the front runner: 2-1

that's the guy.

"Will you accept my rose?"

Um, is Brooks a good guy? I ask because I don't pay that close of attention to the guys other than their looks. If Chris is that guy that was in that plaza last night dancing with Des and was interrupted by another dude who put his tail between his legs and went home (forgot his name) then I don't like him. Too 'corporate' looking. :coffee:

I would agree with that completely Krista. Much like it was no surprise that Desiree was the next Bachelorette...Brooks is going to be a winner either way this season.

That being said...not near the level of crazy as

there is on a typical Bachelor season. The guys just don't bring it like the ladies. The "villains"

this year seem very forced. First the obvious fake drama with that dude and his girlfriend, then Ben because he skipped church and now James because he talked some smack about ruling Chicago with that dope Mikey. Can't wait until James gets rolled next week and we find out Chris was doing stated income loans back in 2006 or Drew really isn't into software but is really a closet video gamer. The horror..

 Agree that it seems totally manufactured, though Ben kind of confirmed the issues with him with his speech in the limo ride.

I have no idea who is what in this show. It's just eye candy for me right now, while channel flipping. Maybe when it gets down to max 6 I will pay more attention.

At least the bachelor scripts in more crazy ladies cat fight drama that makes that show a little better.

I disagree. She spoke in spanish when giving him his rose. She's putting in some effort and he's a hunky man.

She has done that the last 3 or 4 shows. I have not heard her speak any other spanish to him. I think she just learned that phrase for him. Maybe I'm wrong but they have not been showing very

much one on one time between the two of them. I think that re-inforces the fact that he will be gone soon, i.e. ABC is not building a romantic story line between the two of them. Plenty of screen time for Brooks, Chris, and Zak, however.

I'm confused. The promo part of episode 1 included some stuff about James being in a fist fight with another contestant. Now he is eliminated and we never saw it. Was there really a physical fight and they chose to not put that on air? But then why include it in the on this season of the bachelorette promo?

Totally didn't see the issue with James. He was a meathead and not very attractive to me, but if she liked him I just don't get it. What someone said earlier about its being manufactured was true. He really seemed sincere and not a bad guy at all.

How Michael(?) and the gay guy are still there is a mystery.

Okkk, so tuned it tonight to see what the commotion is about with James. Either Des is naive and stupid to still need to think about it. Um, you have like 10 other guys who you so care about and are great, so why not cut this one now? So scripted.

Wondering whether I should switch horses from Brooks to Chris (I don't buy the thing with Zak or with the gay guy). For some reason she really seems to dig Chris. I think, though, when it comes down to it and she likes both, she's just going with the one who's really, really hot rather than male pattern baldness.

Brooks.

Did one of the guys use the term "Accuse-ay" tonight in a sentence? Is that a word? As in "to accuse"? Did I hear that right? Is that for real?

You guys saw that promo at the start of the season, right? A shot of James and ? about to throw down in fisticuffs, and then a shot of James talking to Dez about getting hit out of nowhere. WTF happened, they never showed it? Why put it in a promo and then edit it out of the show?

Last night it seemed like James, Drew, Mike and Kasey were reading from tele-prompters..did you see how their eyes kept looking to the side like they were reading a script? James staying would have made for the best drama...

Yeah, I can only assume people liked James so they took out the part where they really made him a villain.

I would hope that she picks the one who she is in love with and can see being with her whole life. Not just the prettiest guy.

But yes, Brooks is dreamy.

I remember the clip you are referring to....I have been waiting for the "fight" as well....I think they must have decided not to show it, which leads me to think it was nothing more then maybe a little baseball style push or something......and to be honest, the clip where he says "I got hit out of nowhere" I think was just a piece of some of the conversation between James and Dez....not that he actually got hit, but more of "these 3 guys were picking on me, calling me out, etc...and hit me with this out of nowhere"....

the clip we saw of what looked like a pending altercation, must have really been nothing.....nothing but a clip they initially put a spin on to try to get people to tune in...

I'm annoyed if that is what happened.

After last night I would have to move Drew up to about 5-1. Michael appears to be the odd man out for the final four.

What is up with the previews for next week? Does Drew bail on Des? Is he the one Des wants to be with, and when he bails, she basically sends home the other guys?

That's obviously what they want you to think, so what is the real scenario? Any thoughts?

my guess is that Drew has to leave due to some health-related issues with his father (big reveal last night). Dez doesn't want him to go, gets all weepy in the process, and then lets him go. all the other clips of the guys crying is related to the news Drew gets.

I scrolled down so quickly to see if someone made this joke...

I haven't seen a ton of this season, but it really seems like all but maybe 3 or 4 of these guys are gay.

I've heard rumors that Olympic 800m runner Nick Symmonds would be the next Bachelor. After seeing this season and who she has left, I'm starting to think this may come true. Retreading any of these 5 leftover guys would make Ben Flajnik look like a hoot.

I say Des will pick Brooks but the question will be is he ready to marry? He's young, 28, and way too cute to settle down seriously so soon.

so was it me, or did 0% of last week's "previews" show up on tonight's show?

(admittedly, i was paying more attention to a free Draftmaster than Dez' quest for "fun".)

Last week's one-minute preview had more excitement than the entire episode it was supposedly previewing. When Chris said he had something else he wanted to share with Des, I thought he meant his penis.

Brooks doesn't want to commit to Des but she doesn't know it. But since they basically showed last night that Des has settled on Brooks, he won't be the guy she ends up picking, clearing the way for the show to pick Brooks as the next bachelor.

I forgot about Des' brother and what a jerk he was. It will be hilarious if he sabotages her again. Why she would let him anywhere near the guys she's considering marrying is beyond me.

What an awful season, and I just found out bachelor pad won't be on this summer. WTF.

Des just isn't good looking or entertaining.

The main battle right now is not for Dez but to be the next Bachelor. Dez was a bad choice from the start. The hot crazy one from Texas would have been more entertaining.
