The best fantasy team you have ever assembled (1 Viewer)

azngangster

Footballguy
What is the best fantasy football team you have ever had through trading, drafting, add/drop, etc. Doesn't matter if it is dynasty, redraft, auction. List the format, year, and team. Also list if you won the championship with your team.

redraft, 12 team league

year 2005

Qb: Carson Palmer, Marc Bulger

Rb: Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, Dee Brown, Maurice Morris

Wr; Chad Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Andre Johnson

Te; Ben Troupe

K; Jeff Wilkins

DST; Vikings, Cardinals

I won the championship with this team going 15-1. I will never have a year as good as this one. Hit on almost every draft pick i had it seemed. #1qb, #1 and 2 rbs, #4 and #8 wrs. This was the year that Shaun had his 28 td season, and Larry Johnson was the steal of most people's drafts.

My best team ever assembled is recent, so it would be interesting to see teams from the 80s and 90s that were dominant.

Had to be last years team. 12 team redraft out of the 3 spot.

LT, Fast Willy, Gore, and MBIII as RB's

TO, Colston, Javon, and Driver as WR's

Chargers D

Some schmucks at K and TE

My weakness was QB as I bought into the Bledsoe and Plummer hype, but I did snag Cutler late to get me to the championship game.

This league has a week 17 championship game (ugh I know) and I lost by 1 point to the team that got 4 TD's out of Steven Jackson.

I did win a championship in another league with a much inferior team.

2003 12 team redraft:

Position - Player - Ranking

QB - Trent Green - #3

RB - Ahman Green - #2

RB - Duece McAllister - #7

WR - Torry Holt - #2

WR - Chad Johnson - #3

WR - Anquan Boldin - #4

TE - Boo Williams - #4

K - Jeff Wilkins - #1

Def - Cowboys - #5

Bench

WR - Steve Smith - #15

Not much else after that, Charlie Garner was my bye-week RB. Holt fell to me in the 3rd as he had had a down 2002 (#15 that year.) Boldin was a waiver wire pickup in week 1 and it was CJ's breakout year after a solid 2002. Steve Smith was a late round flyer I got off of these message boards. (I lurked back then, didn't post.)

I lost in the finals by less than a TD. I was livid. The team I lost to had traded 3 of his bench scrubs for Randy Moss (#1 WR that year) before the trade deadline. Randy had 111 yards and 2 TD's in week 16.

gangster that is ridiculous. LJ being the steal of the draft is key. The guy in my league paired LJ and LT. I won the league with SA and Tiki.

1998

Brad Johnson (that was his first year with the redskins and he was excellent)

Edgerrin James, Eddie George, Curtis Enis (his only good season)

Tim Brown, Michael Irvin, Isaac Bruce (got him late as it was his first healthy season after all the hamstring problems- first season with Kurt Warner- the super bowl year and before Holt became a stud)

2005 Redraft, Drafting out of the 1 hole, the second of my three straight titles.

QB Hasselbeck (drafted at 4.12, lots of people were down on him after 2004 and he slid to about QB 12 off the board)

QB Brady (traded for during the year, sold the Chris Brown owner before the season that he was going to lose his job to Henry, used Henry in a package to get Brady

WR Holt (drafted at 2.12)

WR Chad Johnson (drafted at 3.01, went for 2 stud WRs on the turn)

WR Plaxico Burress (traded for during the year)

RB Tomlinson (drafted at 1.01)

RB S. Alexander (I drafted Brian Westbrook at 4.01 and he got off to a great start. Our league rewards receptions huge. The SA owner struggled out of the gate and needed to win matchups to make the playoffs. I pounced on the opportunity. Needless to say a mistake on the other owner's part and he's learned from it in subsequent drafts)

TE Crumpler (drafted at 6.12)

Flex Branch (drafted in round 9)

K (who cares, i'd use a different one every week)

DEF Pittsburgh (traded for in preseason)

DEF Tampa Bay (drafted in round 13 or something)

LT went 1.03 in many redrafts last year ....

I have worked 6 years in a keeper league to assemble what I have right now. (draft is in progress)

My 6 keepers into the draft was:

QB: Manning

RB: LT, & Portis (I am high he will return to form & Betts will help open things up for him)

WR: S. Smith, Harrison, & Holt

Drafted Heap at 1.11 then took L. Jordan (I think he will be a good bye week, and rhodes being suspended I think will make him push harder to keep the starters job)

Last year in a keep 5 dynasty league. Through trades and good drafts I had:

P. Manning

LT, SJAX, L. Maroney, Drew-Jones

D Jackson, L Evans, D. Driver, Chambers (bust), S. Moss

Gould

Bears defense

I only went 11-3 (I lost twice with the 2nd most points), but I won the Superbowl. I calculated that even if I gave Tomlinson 0 points each week, I would have ended 9-5.

2004

Culpepper #1 overall player

T. Barber (RB1)

Dom Davis (RB3)

Edge (RB6)

KJones (RB21, playoff monster in 04)

M. Pittman (RB13)

J. Horn (WR2)

Muhammed (WR1)

L. Fitz (WR31)

A. Gates (13tds)

everything worked this year. 15-1, won the title.

Would have to be last season. Particularly because injuries could've destroyed my entire season, but the draft saved me.

Palmer, Kitna

SA, Kevin Jones (traded for him after SA's injury, replaced him with MJD when he in turn got injured), MJD, Norwood

Holt, Driver, Coles, Edwards, Mark Clayton

Winslow (Was laughed at for drafting him late)

Wilkins

New England (Undrafted)

Starters on my 2003 squad

QB--Brady

RB--LT, Deuce McAllister (his breakout year)

WR--Holt, Harrison

RB/WR--Edge or TO

TE--McMichael

K--Elam

Def--can't remember

Wasn't even close.

2001--dynasty league

QB: PManning

RB: CuMar, CGarner, CDillon

WR: RMoss, MHarrison, TOwens, THolt (WRs 1-4)

TE: MPollard/EJohnson

DL: SRice, TBrackens

DB: LSchulters, DAbraham

IDP scoring was a bit different back then--only pts for sacks/int, and tds

Look at my best team ever!

2005-2006 redraft

QB Palmer, Vick

RB Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis, Rudi Johnson, Kevin Jones, Warrick Dunn

WR Chad Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Chris Chambers, Plaxico Burress, Santana Moss

TE Crumpler, Witten

K Wilkins

Def Baltimore

1996

QB Vinnie Testeverde 33TD

RB Ricky Waters 13TD

RB Curtis Martin 14TD

WR Tony Martin 14TD

WR Michael Jackson 14TD

I rolled through that year like none other.

Last year, championship. 12-team keep 3.

RBs: Larry Johnson, Rudi Johnson.

WRs: Javon Walker, Plaxico Burress.

QBs, TEs, PKs, DSTs... all off waivers. High churn rate. I think I had 45 guys on my team all told throughout the season. For example, I drafted Randy Moss (benched all year), Aaron Brooks, Jake Plummer, and Mark Brunell--by week 5 none of my QBs were starting anymore. The only other guy besides Moss that was on my team from draft day at the end of the season was Tatum Bell, and he almost never cracked the starting lineup ahead of LJ or Rudi.

My championship week roster was McNair, LJ, Rudi, Plax, Javon, Vernon Davis, Stover, and the Bills D. My bench had guys like Derek Anderson and Rod Smith.

And I love to quote the fact that I beat the LT owner 2 out of 3 weeks. Including the playoffs I went 10-1 in my division.

1998

McNair

Chandler

Faulk

Hearst

R. Edwards

Abdul-Jabbar

Moulds

Rod Smith

Jimmy Smith

Pickens

Riemersma

Lost the championship game

I'm pretty happy with the team I'm going in this year with. I own the projected #1 player in every position except QB.

1996

QB's: Brett Favre, Stan Humphries, Neil O'Donnell

RB's: Curtis Martin, Thurman Thomas, Terry Allen, Robert Smith

WR's: Joey Galloway, Michael Irvin, Andre Rison, Kordell Stewart (He was eligible at 3 positions that year)

TE: Jay Novacek

K: Don't remember

IDP's: Derrick Thomas, Bryce Paup, Eric Turner

My QB's weren't deep, but I didn't need to use my reserves because that was one of Favre's huge years. Humphries actually did OK back then too.

My RB's won it for me. That was probably CuMar and Terry Allen's best year. Thurman Thomas filled in nicely too.

My WR's of Galloway and Irvin did great. Irvin had a suspension early in the year but I overcame it fairly easy.

Currently have the following team in our keeper league, going into year 4.

Palmer

LT

Gore

Marvin

Chad Johnson

Drafted LT and Marvin in initial draft, when Marvin was 'old". Traded Dom Davis for a 2nd rounder, and the reached for Palmer...was laughed at for that one and then Dom got hurtinto the season and Palmer blew up. In the same draft, drafted Tom Brady and Plax in the 5th and 6th round. That offseason, traded Brady and Plax for CJ. Last year, spent a 5th rounder on Gore which was before Barlow had been traded and Gore was coming off 2 shoulder surgeries.

Took 4 years..BTW, traded up for the #2 overall pick in this years draft

Last year, 12 team 2-keeper PPR league where the keeper counts as your pick in the round he was drafted.

How do you get an elite '06 fantasy team without owning LT, SJax, or Peyton, and getting nothing out of the last five rounds of your draft?

RB

LJ (keeper as 6th round pick)

Westbrook (1.9)

Gore (9.9)

WR

Harrison (2.4)

Wayne (3.9)

Fitz (keeper as 7th round pick)

Branch

QB

Rivers (trade)

Hasselbeck (4.4)

TE

Winslow (trade)

That's RB #3, 4, and 5, WR #1, 4, and 24, TE #3, and QB #7. 6 skill position players who were top 5 at their position. Who cares if my DEF and K were whatever scrub I picked up?

Sweet, a bragging thread. Might as well join in.

Probably not even close to most of yours, but I quite like my current dynasty team, 32 teams (each player available 2x):

HC(1): Gibbs, Smith, Lovie

QB(1): VY/Roethlisberger, Batch, Orlovsky, Warner, Beck

RB(0-2): LT, Portis, Tiki, Chris Perry, Sproles, Turner, De. Ward, Chris Henry

WR(3-5): Boldin, Evans, Roy, Walker, Hines Ward, Edwards, Matt Jones, ARE, Paul Williams, David Ball, Brad Smith

TE(1): Shockey, Troupe, Scaife, Kris Wilson

PK(1): Nugent, Stover

DT(1): KWilliams

DE(2): Osi, Hali, James Hall, Mario Williams

LB(4): Urlacher, Brooking, Bulluck, Merriman, Gold, L.Johnson, D.Morgan, Simmons,

CB(2) Bly, Robinson, Surtain

S(2): Polamalu, Bob Sanders, Madieu Williams

Geez. And I thought I was in a lot of leagues. Are you ever able to root for anyone?
Actually I have 2 more dynasty leagues and a keeper league too. And while I used to flip through Sunday Ticket, now I just tend to watch my 2 favorite teams, the Redskins and Panthers. (as if you couldn't tell from my rosters with Steve Smith, Portis, Santana, Cooley, Betts, Campbell everywhere)

Last year's team:

QB: Bulger, Roethlisberger

RB: Tomlinson, and then my RB2 starter was a platoon of Kevin Jones, Chester Taylor, and Thomas Jones

WR: Steve Smith, Hines Ward, Lee Evans, Chris Chambers

TE: Colston (Yahoo league)

K: Carney

Def: Denver (I rotated a few others in based on matchup)

Led the league in scoring and missed the playoffs :goodposting:

Redraft - 10 man league - 2005

Eli/Favre/McNair

LT2/LJ/FWP/Thomas Jones/Fred Taylor

Holt/Owens/Darrell Jackson/Santana Moss

Crumpler

Holt and Jackson had injuries and Owens got suspended in the middle of the year or I would have went undefeated this year. I still annihilated the overall total points and the weekly total points record en route to a championship.

Dynasty - 12 man league - 2004

Culpepper

Holmes/Dunn/Thomas Jones

Bruce/Rod Smith/Wayne

Crumpler Gonzalez

Stover

Baltimore

We don't have records back this far, but I remember looking back at the numbers and every single member of my 20 man team had a minimum of 100 fantasy points, including the #1 QB, RB, TE, PK, and TD. The WR were nothing to sneeze at either. Forgot I traded Holmes/Gonzalez for Kevin Jones/Crumpler after the season.

2004 10-Team redraft

QB - Culpepper.....when he scored 41 TDs

RB - James

RB - Martin......when Martin had his career year

WR - Drew Bennett.....was on fire at the end of that year

WR - D Jackson

WR - J Smith

TE - Gonzalez.....the year he had about 100 rec, and my league that year credited TWO points per catch for TEs only :goodposting:

K - Graham

D - BUF

Had Hasselbeck and Dunn on the bench.

Drafted Culpepper, James, Martin, Jackson, and J Smith, picked up Gonzalez and BUF D in trades......Bennett and Graham of the WW.

Won the first playoff game by 75, and the championship game by 40, even with Martin, Bennett, and J Smith having bad games.

Couple years ago in an office money league in the fiirst year we went PPR and when LJ wasn't starting yet I had 1.01....

1.01 - LT2

2.12 - Holt

3.01 - CJ

4.12 - Heap

5.01 - LJ

6.12 - Hasselbeck

..... The rest is irrelevant. I went undefeated.

Started RB/WR/WR/FLEX/TE so every week I had LT2 and LJ running and Holt/CJ pulling down passes. Sick.

I drafted this team in 2005 from the "16 spot" and it won a 16 team conference by a wide margin (14-1), also being the best of 32 teams (players repeat once per conference) ...

1.16 16. Beaumont's Minority Whip Johnson, Rudi CIN RB

2.01 17. Beaumont's Minority Whip Jordan, Lamont OAK RB

3.16 48. Beaumont's Minority Whip Foster, De'shaun CAR RB

4.01 49. Beaumont's Minority Whip Smith, Steve CAR WR

5.16 80. Beaumont's Minority Whip Brooks, Aaron OAK QB

6.01 81. Beaumont's Minority Whip Cooley, Chris WAS TE

7.16 112. Beaumont's Minority Whip Moss, Santana WAS WR

14.01 209. Beaumont's Minority Whip Graham, Shayne CIN PK

15.16 240. Beaumont's Minority Whip Jones, Greg JAC RB

1999, Note: very small league, so teams were pretty loaded, but this was dominant, even then.

Records are incomplete, but here are the basics:

QB: Kurt Warner (week 1 waivers), Jon Kitna/Doug Flutie (start 2)

RB: Edge James, Dorsey Levens/Duce Staley/Corey Dillon (acquired late in the season)

WR: Marvin Harrison, Isaac Bruce (early trade before it was apparent his Hammies would hold up) , I had Terrell Owens for a while, but that was not a good year for him. I think the 3rd wr was a crap shoot all year. a few times it was Bill Schroeder, got Derrick Mayes midseason, but then picked up Patrick Jeffers for stretch run

TE: Wesley Walls

Def: I think it was Seattle early and then the Rams most of the time later as they feasted on teams trying to keep up with the GSOT

K: Olindo Mare (picked up early in the season)

Warner broke out with his career year, Bruce finally kept his hamstrings healthy, James had an awesome rookie year, Harrison had his breakout year, Walls had a career year, as did Mare.

I had the number one player at just about every position.

2003, the 2nd of my back to back championship years.

RB - Ahman Green(#2RB), Deuce McAllister (#7RB)

WR - Randy Moss (#1WR), Chris Chambers (#11WR)

TE - Todd Heap (#3TE)

k - Jason Elam

D - Tampa Bay, Baltimore

This was an auction/keeper league, and Deuce, Heap, and the Baltimore D were all cheap keepers for me from previous seasons.

1998

Randall Cunningham 3704 yards, 34 TDs passing, 123 yards, 1 TD rushing

Jamal Anderson 2165 total yards, 16 TDs

Fred Taylor 1644 total yards, 17 TDs

Randy Moss 1313 yards, 17 TDs

Antonio Freeman 1424 yards, 14 TDs

Jimmy Smith 1182 yards, 8 TDs

Wesley Walls 505 yards, 5 TDs

I honestly don't remember who my kicker and defense was but it didn't matter. I destroyed everyone that year.

I had the #2 and #10 in rushing yards; #2 and #3 in rushing TDs; #1 #3 and #5 in receiving yards, #1 and #3 in receiving TDs, #5 in passing yards and #2 in passing TDs.

even scarier is that i missed Randy Moss by one draft slot in the rookie draft prior to the season...

this wasn't a dynasty though as this group only won two championships they just met in the perfect storm this particular season ... thanks to the NFL making REdwards play flag football in the sand and having his leg explode, TD and Taylor injured soon after, and Favre-Levens-Freeman GB stats all declining at once, we soon came back to the pack

was fun that year though

After the first six, it was a done deal that year. All the receivers were over a thousand yards, and I believe double digit touchdowns. With websites and how big this has grown, I doubt that type of team will be put together again.

Portis - Rookie, RB4 IIRC

Eddie George - RB 10 IIRC

Hines Ward - Ward's first big big year

Chad Johnson - added as a waiver guy.

Once I added Johnson, I pounded everyone until the champ game which I won by 2 points.
