I’ve done it. I created The Blueprint. Not just any blueprint. Not the plans for that two-story addition on the back of my house I’ve meant to get to for the past three years. I’m talking about The Blueprint. The document Jimmy Johnson thought he had. The one Rob Ryan thought he had. The one Steve Spagnuolo thought he had.

I created a game plan that could stop the Patriots.....

We've had this discussion earlier in the year when talking about how to defend the spread offense and Brady in particular. Pressure up the middle, athleticism throughout the back seven specifically but the entire defense wherever possible. I still think Brady can be pressured with overload blitzes. But it all hinges on personnel. You have to have the athleticism. You have to have the right kind of defensive tackles. And you have to have a very good pass coverage unit -- from linebacker to corner to nickel backs to deep safety play.

What his plan doesn't take into account is that New England will likely just run the ball down the throat of an NT/UT line in front of a nickel back seven or eight. A very stout 3-3-5 with versatile cover and rush backers would have a shot at defending both, but the Patriot rush offense is underrated (if that's possible).

It's why I was really disappointed when the Colts lost Freeney. They're one of the very few teams that can provide pressure with the front four from a NT/UT formation and have the backers to cover the short and intermediate zones. The Packers would be interesting too, but their poor nickel backs and safeties will almost certainly catch up with them. I don't believe the Jags have the pass rush on the edges to pull this off. The Chargers would be interesting if Cottrell takes the gloves off and Florence and Weddle and Cooper have big time games. I think the Seahawk defense matches up better than the Cowboys. The Giants secondary is way too inconsistent (as we saw) to hold the Pats for 60 minutes.

Jags, Colts, Packers would be the best gauntlet to Pats haters to see.

Isn't there a blue print on how to beat the Jags, colts chargers, Green Bay and dallas? :lmao:
