The Cheatsheet as Brett Favre # 5 (1 Viewer)

Even knowing what I know now, I still would have made the call to start Favre if he were on my team. Recap:

1) on MNF

2) against the 26th worst pass defense

3) which is even further banged up due to last minute scratches

4) with no running game

5) BUT all healthy wide receivers

6) against a team who is going to sling the rock all night because Westbrook is out

If you drafted Favre -- when are you planning to start him if not in this matchup? Yes, he had the Philly bugaboo on his back. But if you drafted the guy, you had confidence in him, and this matchup screamed "start me." He tanked, which is unfortunate, but not a bad call to start him.

You know, Peter King gets bashed a lot on this board but he was pretty spot on about last night (other than not knowing Westbrook would be a late scratch).

I want to give you a reason to really get excited about Pack-Eagles, but I don't think I can while retaining my journalistic integrity. It's in Philly; the Packers are 0-5 there when Brett Favre quarterbacks them. More than that, I just don't think the Packers can block the Eagles' defensive front, so it should be a long night for Favre. He'd better have his track shoes on. Mostly, though, the Packers' defense, 31st in the league, is in no condition to stop the Eagles' top-rated NFL offense. Green Bay is allowing 388 yards a game, which is generous enough; Philly's producing 436 yards a game. Watch Brian Westbrook get on the edge tonight. It should happen early and often.

Philadelphia 35, Green Bay 14.

Nothing that happened in this game was the fault of Charles Woodson. He made plays. He had a strip on the goalline. I am tired of people around here(milwaukee) bashing woodson for Manual and Collins crappy play. CWOOD is doing his job.

Carroll was abused last night.

Yep, hindsight is 20/20. He really looked like crap though. Not the OL's fault, etc etc, he just plain made bad decisions and esp. bad throws. He should have retired at least TWO years ago.

Why the hell would you stay in 2 TE sets and run the ball against a team with literally NO depth and practice squad players in the secondary. Nice coaching guys, seriously. :loco: :wall:
If they hadn't done that, Favre would have been sacked about 7 times.
Yeah, cuz 4-wide and quick slant the 2 slots and hooks or option routes on the outside would definitely end in a sack??
Isn't that exactly what they tried only with 2 TEs? Quick slants. It didn't help them very much out of a TE set, why would the 4 WR set make a difference.

There's a HUGE difference with 2 wideouts both runnign quick slants with 2 TE package. The OLB's can jump the quick slants while not completely leaving their assignments of run/pass coverage of the TE. Plus, with 2 wide, you've still got Brown and Dawkins over the top of Driver, and CB#4 with Lewis over the top of Jennings. Bring in 4 wide, single back set, and you're looking at either a complete mismatch with Krob or Ferguson matched up with a LB OR you get those slot WR's getting covered by one of the safeties, which then gets you 1-on-1 coverage on the outside with Jennings vs. CB#4.They did this 2 or 3 times, twice it worked, 3rd time I think it was a dropped pass (or the Jennings pass down the sideline?). I deleted the game alread in disgust or I'd go back and re-watch it. I really expected MUCH more out of McCarthy as it looked like he did a great job of gameplanning for Det. /shrug. My own fault for over-estimating a rookie coaching staff.I put a little blame on Favre (he absolutely missed a good 6 passes that would have been huge), a little on Driver (wow, dropsies), and a LOT on the coaching game-plan. It was absolutely atrocious when it came to exploiting your oppponents weakness with your strength.

anyone who

A) Has Farve on their team and

B) Starts Farve in ANY game

should just go ahead and quit now. FARVE already had a few solid fantasy games, no more!
Pretty bold statement after the game. :coffee:

The D can bring in a dime package and still jump those slants.... see the Sea/Chi game. It's all about the guys on D making the 3 step read and running down hill to fill the passing lane. It can work with LBs or DBs, so long as they read the drop and use their periferial vision to see the routes. Of course, it's hard to read that 3 step drop in Man and much easier in Zone, but that has little do do with the package on the field.
