The Chris Johnson Hype machine (2 Viewers)

Week 17 (for those leagues that play) could easily be a reverse of last year.
Yea, as a CJ owner that last week (which my league plays) could suck. Reminds me of when I had Bush his rookie year and he was on fire down the stretch but played just one series in the Saints' last game. He did score but I had to bench him and it sucked not having him for a full game given how much production he was putting up.Back to CJ, I'm still waiting for him to be incorporated more in the passing game. I'm surprised they don't run more screens and dumpoffs into the flat to get him the ball in space.

77 yards, a TD and four receptions to boot. Not a bad night.
96 total yards and a TD, not a huge night by any stretch but good enough. That's the thing about these Titans, no player had a big night and if you just looked at the stats (aside from scoring) for a minute you wouldn't know that they won this game. Held to 90 yards rushing, Collins threw for 193, no WR had more than 44 yards, no sacks, no forced fumbles... 2 INTs helped, but it's all about the team D and efficiency.

And dominating Time of Possession.

He's faster than Fast Willie Parker was as a rookie.
Fastest player I've seen in the league since Deion Sanders.
Actually Brian Witherspoon (Jax DB/KR) ran a faster 40 time in his pro day, but he didn't go to the combine and was undrafted, so nobody paid attention to it. Also Donnie Avery ran a 4.2 his junior year, was a tad slower at the combine and his pro day this year as he was nursing an injury.Fastest or 3rd fastest, dude is pretty quick with the pads on.

This guy will be special in the future when the team can surround him with more talent. When he's on the field, defenses are just collapsing on him. He's the sole focus of the D. Last night the Titans were able to pass the ball alot, and weren't effective running it. They're going to have to start passing the ball more to keep defenses honest in the coming weeks.

Chris Johnson's value this year is a little bit limited with Lendale vulturing TD's and with the substandard talent surrounding him on offense.

I suspect he'll have some pretty amazing seasons in the future though.

I'm really not expecting much from him this week, for that reason. I think the Pack has the cover ability from their CBs to play safeties in the box w/ regularity vs. the whispy Titan passing game. GB is not ranked well vs. the run, but I think they match up very well with the Titans.

I'm definitely on the bandwagon after picking him up off waivers in week 1. He has taken turns replacing ADP and LT2 in my dynasty throughout the season in various matchups and I've been extremely pleased with him. I think he is an excellent running back and considering his competition, I think you can make a legitimate argument that he tops ADP's rookie year (ADP's division is GB, Chi, and Det... wru run defenses!).

Anywho, for this guy to be a truly elite dynasty back, I'd like to see him work on those hands a little. I think all of us owners were rooting for Jeff Fisher to get him more involved in the passing game and he did exactly that Monday night. By my count, he dropped three passes (maybe more?) and at least one of them looked to have clear running ahead (~20 yd gain). He will be a top 10 back just based on his speed and vision alone, but I think becoming a better option in the passing game could make him a perennial top 3 real football back; in fantasy, he will probably only challenge top 5 at best so long as LenWhale is sniping 15+ carries a game and all the touches inside the 5.

My dynasty league is 10 years old now and we keep three per year. I traded for LT2 early this season in a trade involving MBIII. Prior to that, he stayed on the same team for several years in a row following a blockbuster trade in my league involving LT2 and Peyton Manning. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'll be selecting Brees, ADP, and CJ3 as my keepers next year so I think the league will all be quite surprised to see LT2 in the draft for the first time since his rookie season!

For all of you guys who play playoffs during the NFL regular season which is the majority of you (my league goes to the superbowl), I would be very surprised if CJ3 gets alot of playing time in the last three weeks without home field on the line. Jeff Fisher is a practical coach and I do not think he will care for the chance at going undefeated. He understands that his owners want a superbowl more than a 16-0 reg season. In that case, let us all home that some teams pull the upset between now and then or the hand of God touches the Pitts o-line and carries that team to several more wins to stay in contention for home-field!

Funny, I have the opposite takes on those passes to CJ3: they were absolute terrible throws by Collins. Any RB would have had trouble corralling them. I was wondering why the Titans weren't trying to get the ball to CJ3 more in space, and I think the answer is Collins has horrible touch/accuracy on those types of passes. At least that is they way it looked on MNF.

I guess I'm in between then. A couple of those throws looked like they could have been better, but were catchable, and CJ looked like he tried to make cuts and run up the field before actually making the catch on two of them.

Now that you mention, I do specifically call at least one play where CJ turned upfield too quickly before securing the ball. And while most of Collins's passes weren't perfect, a guy like Kevin Faulk or other top receiving back probably could have caught it.

No doubt man, I think we all know Kerry isn't the best of the bunch! Luckily for the Titans, he has been serviceable. I actually think this area would be one where Vince Young could excel because passing to the HB was very much a part of his Texas QB offensive system. He is probably well-schooled in putting just the right touch on those balls. Regardless, good point about Collins~

I think after that high-light shoe string catch in the first (?) game many of us were expecting him to be featured more in the passing game. Maybe the pressure of making things happen is getting to him a bit, though if that is true it doesn't seem to be affecting his vision/aggressiveness as a runner.

When Chris was in college, one his best assets were his patch catching skills. He has great hands, and I'm not sure why he is dropping some passes other than he is being too focused on looking at where he is going to run before the ball reaches his hands. NFL is faster than college, so I guess he is jumping the gun too much on taking off before the ball reaches him. He will learn, but he does have great hands.

Blasphemy I know but anyone selling in redraft... few things I'm considering - if the perfect record goes will they limit his touches down the stretch to rest for the playoffs, Lendale's vulturing, tough week 16 vs Pitt, rookie wall etc.

watching this game, holy moley more than 1/2 the plays are for CJ. If he's not running it, they're setting up screens, sneaking out of the backfield for a checkdown, etcetcetc. Too bad they don't execute the offense too well. Not bringing lendale in for the 3 yard td is saying something as well. I hope they lose this game!

They didnt bring in Lendale because he was on the sideline sucking wind after his 50 yd run. That said, I agree hes the focal point of the entire offense.

again the whale not in to vulture, and multiple touches for CJ inside the 10. Its a shame their execution on the offensive end is just terrible...

wowewowow! All CJ all OT. They really have put their entire offense in his hand, and doesn't seem like too bad an idea either...

this is what i've been waiting to see - the 5 or 6 catches in a game for 50 plus yards. plus, what, 24 carries? nothing like putting it on those small shoulders.

has anyone watched east carolina this year? they seem to have a cj clone. i'm going to be keeping an eye on him.

I'd feel better about his performance if GB hadn't been giving up 4.9 ypc, while CJ only netted 3.7It is good to see he was used a lot.

GB stacked the box the entire game. They showed no respect for the Titans passing game, and the Titans did nothing to earn that respect. Johnson was getting consistently hit at the line or in the backfield and still picked up nice yardage. I found his overall performance to be his most impressive of the year. He displayed good hands when he came back to catch a couple poorly thrown short balls. It also seems that the Titans are finally understanding that they have the next westbrook on their hands, and they are looking for ways to get him the ball in space on dump passes and screens. His TD was not a bounce to the outside, but right up the gut. He really can do it all. I will say that he looked gassed about halfway through the 4'th quarter and all through overtime. A lot of rookies take a year to really get into nfl caliber shape, so I wouldnt worry about it too much yet. It's just nice to see him carrying the load, and getting nice numbers against a stacked box.

I didn't watch yesterday's game but I did watch last Monday night's and if GB was doing what Indy was, shadowing CJ with 2 players, then 3.7 doesn't look too bad. Teams clearly know they need to stop CJ. Until they find a real threat at WR teams will take there chances on losing to a Collins to ???? connection in the passing game and focus their attention on CJ.

Don't forget Harrell came back this week...

I will say Brandon Jones made some silly catches...

He's on pace for around 350 touches, 1750 net yds and 12 TDs and we've got owners yapping about this or that, take that mess to a Marshawn Lynch or a Ryan Grant thread.

We've come a long way since the off season projected 50/50 or 60/40 split with LenDale White and we can put aside the BMI nonsense and "hype" from the title of the thread since he's more than delivered.

Kudos to the Titans for the pick, they nailed it.

I agree completely, and I didn't mean it a knock against CJ, but how is this going to change for the rest of these season? Teams will stack the box, and I can see CJ's average dropping from the high 4s. He has a lot of value in PPR leagues, I'm just tempering my expectations.

Love the TEN offense. Collins completes enough passes to keep the chains moving at times and CJ is clearly the primary RB. Plus he can catch passes. They don't strike quickly so that means plenty of touches for CJ.

He is the #5 RB in my non-PPR league right now so he is great in that format as well. I think Collins will play good enough to keep the defenses honest. Even if teams continue to stack the box and CJ is averaging just below 4 yards per carry, he is getting enough touches (both rushing and receiving) to get good overall yardage in any game he plays. As much as LenDale takes away carries, it is really a positive since CJ can continue to stay fresh. I really did like the fact that when the game was on the line late, they put the ball in his hands and kept LenDale on the bench. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving in a few weeks when CJ gets to feast on the Lions.

Not many teams have the CB tandem GB does. I expected this coming into the game, and almost benched Flash for Fargas... couldn't convince myself to bench lil' Johnson. :phew:

CJ3 was a beast yesterday. Too bad I sat him in favor of Lynch and Ronnie. I'll likely lose my game too. I Know, I know... :lmao:

I will NEVER sit this guy again. He is now clearly the focus of the TEN offense and will get plenty of touches week in and week out. I worry a little about the dreaded "rookie wall" (especially at his size) but I'm going to ride him til he drops. Mr. Lynch, allow me to introduce you to the pine....

I was convinced after week 1 & 2.....The only week that one should have considered benching him was vs Balt....which ultimately became his worst game of the year...

Ditto...have played him 5 of the last 7 weeks (all except Balt and the bye week), and especially the last 3, he has been a savior.Yes, my own lil' LBJ savior...

He's the #5 back in my league scoring right now (non-ppr), 20 pts behind Portis. 4 less vultured td's and he's the #1 back, unreal. I'm certainly not complaining though.

Started SJax for him last week and cost me the win... CJ's becoming an unbenchable stud... How does the Chicago matchup look though? They are tough against the run and will surely stack the line... Everytime I think he won't do well though, he does..

This is what I thought until the BAL game  so I'm slightly tempted to not start him this week. Other thoughts?
