I never said he was a random innocent target in a drive-by. I was responding to what AP said about Chris. Chris got out of the hood with a scholarship, and worked hard while at ECU. He did not get into trouble, and he was not a loser. If Chris is going to run around with his high school friends that never left the hood and grew into thugs, bad things will happen. Like I said, it would serve him well staying away from his hometown.

Orlando has some pretty rough neighborhoods. Not as bad as Miami or Jacksonville, but not good.

"Doing wrong" in these situations is usually just hanging out with the wrong people. Happens to be black people most of time but it's not a race issue.

He and his bros were driving around at 4 am with loaded pistols. I guess he could have been a victim of random act of violence. Just doesn't seem that likely IMO.

Johnson's injuries were never believed to be serious. Gossip site TMZ.com also claims more than one team has expressed interest in the ex-Jet and Titan. For what it's worth, FOX Sports' Jay Glazer was interviewed as part of TMZ's story. We haven't seen Johnson credibly linked to a single team since the start of free agency.

Johnson expressed his desire to play for Dallas earlier this week but the interest doesn't appear to be mutual. Going on 30, Johnson hasn't drawn a lick of interest since the Jets declined his option earlier this offseason. The Cowboys seem content to go with a committee at running back with Darren McFadden and Ryan Williams likely to see the most touches.

The constant about players that make their living by using special speed is that when they bust they bust hard and they bust final and while we might see a play here and there and think it's the same guy, teams see him in workouts or practices (last year) and they know its not the same. Nobody comes into the league and gets faster year after year. Instead, it's the reverse and time is not on his side at this point.

A guy without his ego could run in a tryout and be signed by any/every team to be a situational back. They don't turn down 4.2 speed with experience.

His ego has been ginormous and no one is going to want that. There are Titans articles of him returning to mentor Sankey and ummm he's not the type of guy you ask to be a mentor. Jerry Jones looked like a good spot, but CJ probably wouldn't understand Jerry's ego is biggest in DAL.

The best scenario I have read is the potential for a new attitude, new outlook after the gunshot.

2nd best is something to chew on-sign CJ as a KR. Feed him PR as more work. If he's a good soldier, give him some carries. I think the NFL world will go from "washed up" to woah I don't want to see him return kicks on us. Any ST coach worth his salt figures they can get their KR some daylight.

Yeah, I would assume he's still got to be good enough to be on a team roster. Even if he has lost a step, or 2. Going from 4.24 to 4.44 is still plenty fast to play in the NFL. It's not like he's over the cliff, age wise. 29 is older for a RB but it's not 32. Something seems off here. Maybe it's the attitude. Maybe he just really did fall off the cliff already. He's on the WW in a few leagues I'm in, hence the bumping. Just trying to see if he's worth a roster spot at this point. Probably not given cuts are around the corner anyway.

He also averaged 4.3 y/c behind the Jets OL(higher than Ivory) so that would translate to 5+ in DAL imo.

Honestly the FA group, Thomas(passing down back), Johnson(between the 20's), and Jackson(short yardage) look like a stronger group than what they have now. Of course once they passed on Ajayi in the 4th and Artis-Payne in the 5th it looks to me they are determined to prove they can run with ANYONE behind that line and get away with it.

Point being, adding more marginal talents (at this stage of his career) like CJ would just make the other marginal talents (Randle, DMC, Dunbar) even more marginal. As is without a free agent, there might be enough pie to divvy up between whoever is on the roster come week 1 to make some noise. If Dallas piles on more names like CJ or PT, it craps out everyone.

That NFL MMA workout got some big press recently, it'd be sweet for Jay (if he still is) if he could get CJ signed. The timing is so perfect.

Behind that line in Dallas he would get Randle (who stinks BTW) and Mcfadden playing behind him in short order. CJ has a year left in that tank where in the right situation he can put up very solid FF RB 2 numbers.

If he were given a full workload in Dallas (if he indeed is in great shape of course) he could easily rush for over 1200 plus catch 35-40 balls and score some long TD's. I would not sell him so short just yet. I think Dallas would be very smart to grab CJ and take a no risk shot on a HR hitter. They did the same with McFadden. The difference is Johnson has shown he was elite, and can stay healthy. McFadden is pretty much damaged goods and never proved he was an elite NFL RB.

Cowboys should take a shot here. Again I never have been impressed by Joseph Randle. He is quite ordinary. Even behind that line he looked pedestrian. He too also has the knuckle head factor (much like CJ).

The Titans have one of the weakest running back corps in all of football, but they know Johnson wouldn't really improve it at this stage of his career. I can't figure out why he's not on a team. He still looked good to me when he was on the Jets, and they were terrible IMO. With his speed, I feel like he could put up 10 good carries a game with a good chance of the home run on any given one of them.
