The Daryl Richardson Thread (2 Viewers)

I don't think the book is written on him yet. If he was truly injured and is healthy for camp, he could look just fine. It doesn't take much to look better than Pead anyway. STL is a team going up and I think Richardson could contribute to their success.

Someone was going to be the odd man out in St. Louis' crowded backfield after the Rams spent the No. 75 overall pick on Tre Mason, but it was expected to be Isaiah Pead, not Richardson. Playing through turf toe, Richardson was dreadful as a sophomore after opening the season as the Rams' de facto starter, managing only 215 yards on 69 carries (3.11 YPC). Just one year removed from a successful rookie campaign as a change-of-pace back, Richardson is unlikely to make it through waivers unclaimed.

Daryl Richardson released by St. Louis RamsBy Ryan Maquinana NFL.com

The St. Louis Rams continued their efforts to shed running backs Thursday as Daryl Richardson was released, according to the NFL's transaction wire.

Richardson, a 2012 seventh-round draft pick, played in eight games in 2013, amassing just 215 rushing yards at a 3.1 yards-per-carry clip after a solid rookie campaign. He was expected to contend for the No. 1 job as late as training camp last season. However, the emergence of Zac Stacy shelved those plans indefinitely.

With Stacy now firmly entrenched in the starting spot and the arrival of third-round selection Tre Mason as a change-of-pace back, the writing was on the wall for the 24-year-old Abilene Christian product to tote the ball even less in his third season.

After reportedly shopping likely third-stringer Isaiah Pead to no avail during last weekend's draft, general manager Les Snead found his solution to thin the running back corps heading into the team's offseason workouts, which begin June 3.

The "Around The League Podcast" predicts which rookie quarterbacks will start first and what veterans are in trouble after the draft.

He is likely to make it through waivers IMO. I just looked at the NFL RB depth charts and it is hard to find a fit for Richardson. The teams that might consider him would be the Colts and Arizona but I doubt it. He will likely need an injury to happen before he can make a roster.

I think he'll get into a camp. Teams just need bodies at this point. Whether or not he can make somebody's 53 is a different story.

He's totally droppable for FF purposes either way.
