The day has come...#1 O vs #1 D (1 Viewer)

Vegas has the line at PIT +10.5

If any of you Pitt Homers (or pats haters) actually BELIEVE the insanity you're spewing (Which I doubt).....I suggest you drop your life savings on PIT in this game. SURELY if PIT has any chance of beating NE, you HAVE to think getting 10.5 points is a LOCK.

CASH IN THOSE 401K's.... EMPTY THE IRAs.... GET THAT 2ND MORTGAGE!!!

1. Is that really the line? Jeez, I would have thought it would have been at least 14.2. It is possible for the game to be close, but the Patriots to still win by more than 10.5. What if the Patriots lead 23-17 and the Steelers are inside the NE 10 in the last minute, and BR is sacked, and the Patriots return a fumble for a TD and win by 12-14 (depending on if they go for 2 or kick the XP)? Someone would have lost the bet on Pitt even though they would have had an excellent chance at winning the game.

THE STEELERS WIN OUTRIGHT...RIGHT?

That, sir, is a FANTASTIC bet. I wish I had gotten in at +17.... 14 with the hook is beautiful. Hell.. I think even 10.5 is a pretty good bet. Once you lose that hook (or it goes the other way) it's done, though.

I think it opened at 14, lots of sharps on the Stillers.

If I had gotten Pitt at plus 14 or more, I would now take NE minus the 10 1/2 and hope it falls in the middle, which is very possible, especially if you got Pitt at plus 14 1/2 or more. Worst case scenario, you lose the juice on one of the bets, but if you hit it, you can make a killing.

I didn't bet all that much, as I don't trust betting against that Patriots offense, but the way the line was dropping (my book opened it at 15.5, then it dropped to 14.5 and I dove in quick) I knew it was a +EV bet. Worst case, I can always hedge with NE -10.5 and I have a pretty good sized cushion the score can land in while only risking juice.

hard for the Patriot players to get amped up for the likes of the Eagles and Ravens. They bring thier "A" game at home this week and embarass the PIT D.
No doubt BB is going to have the boys all fired up to face the #1 defense at home. The Steelers are going to have to be at their best if they want to hang with the Patriots. That said, the Patriots can be beaten. The Steelers have more talent on both sides of the ball than the Ravens or the Eagles so if they can avoid shooting themselves in the foot it should be a good game.

Awesome contribution to this thread. Thanks.

The last time NE and Pittsburgh squared off with Pittsburgh leading the league in D: 2004 AFCC game. Pitt was #1 in D, #16 in O. NE was #8 in D, #7 in O. New England won 41-27 in Pittsburgh. This year, NE is #3 in D, #1 in O. Pittsburgh is #1 in D, #14 in O. New England is ranked a little higher in each category, and Pittsburgh is roughly the same. This time theyll play in New England. The spread is NE -10. Wonder what the spread was back in '04. Anyone remember?

Like you can compare NE and PIT from 3 years ago. Completely different teams. PIT has a different coach as well. That argument is useless.
