It depends how deep your rosters are. Since you're not going to win this year, Sands coming up in mid-April doesn't matter as much as his long term potenital. You're essentially betting that Sands is the one of the top NL prospects that comes up all year. He's certainly the first but others will follow from the end of May on. I think he'll strike out enough to affect his AVG and doubt he'll steal many bases. You're buying him for his power. So, let's say you're in a 10 team NL only 5x5 keeper auction. You're desperate for offense, and the guy with the 1st waiver claim has no interest in Sand ($6 next year to keep). Is offering Carpenter ($19 next year to keep) too much to offer for him, if you don't think you can win this year?
Only 3 ks in 40 abs at AAA. He has about a 21% K rate for his career. It depends how deep your rosters are. should've mentioned that part i guess. 25 man rosters with 4 bench spots. C, 1b,2b,3b,ss,mi,ci,4 of, uti, 4sp, 2rp, 3p.At any rate, I'm pretty sure I'm doing this deal and hope he pans out. If he doesn't, no loss in that I wouldn't keep Carpenter next year.It depends how deep your rosters are. 40 ABs is a pretty small sample size. 123 SOs last year in A & AA. I guess we'll see. I like a prospect as much as the next guy, even though Sands is a Dodger.Only 3 ks in 40 abs at AAA. For some reason when I hear about Dodger prospect Jerry Sands, I think about Dodger prospect Billy Ashley
Double, RBI Sac Fly, Pitch at his head from Hudson, and 2 strikeouts in his debut. Looks like he tries to take it to right-center/right field, which should be a good approach. If he can put the LF platoon experiment to bed I'll be a happy camper.
Colour me shocked that a roto baseball enthusiast such as yourself who has many subscribers still plays in leagues hosted by Yahoo. I thought you were better than that.I actually knew he was getting the call last week. I picked him up in a couple leagues then and have been trying to trade for him. He's not even in Yahoo yet. I tried doing a place holder but I think the Cake cats will hose me.
