The ethics of paying for daycare while it is shut down due to Covid-19 (1 Viewer)

My daycare in N.Va is doing similar -- temperature checks on entry and middle of the day, only teachers/kids allowed in building, masks required by parents and teachers.  Class size does appear reduced.  I know some kids dropped out.  They also used to have some kids assemble together in some of the rooms at the beginning and end of day, but they are not doing that now; so, contacts are a bit more limited.

So, I'm reaching out to our tax person today but I'm wondering if they are going to handle Dependent Care FSA differently.  We are contributing our $5000 for this year which we elected last November well before any of this started.  It was to be used for her last year of preschool that would be starting soon.  However, they are now looking at a virtual option which is completely pointless for a 4-5 year old.  And after this year, we have no use for dependent care as she'll be in school.

I hope there's some kind of option where we aren't throwing $5K away because that would be absolutely ridiculous.
