Reading an article by Charlie Wiegert in the new Fanball 2009 magazine. He makes a comment that really has got me thinking.
"I go into every draft with a plan. I'll look at the league results from the previous seasons. I figure out what it took to finish third in each category, and I use those numbers as my targets to hit during my drafts. If you finish third in every category, you'll win the league more times than not. I use the best projections I can find, and during the draft I write down and tally each player's projected stats for the upcoming year. Over the past 22 years, this approach has produced 25 championships and many top three finishes."
Well, Ive got plenty of projected stats. But how do I know what goals I am aiming for if I am in a new league with no history?
Any of you guys know what those goals would be in a league with the following set up:
12 teams. Mixed league 5 x 5 standard roto scoring. H2H. 22 week season.
Starting Lineup Requirements:
* 2 Catchers
* 1 First Baseman
* 1 Second Baseman
* 1 Shortstop
* 1 Third Baseman
* 1 Middle Infielder 2B/SS
* 1 Corner Infielder 1B/3B
* 1 Utility Player any offensive position
* 5 Outfielders
* 9 Pitchers
Thanks in advance!
