The Greatest/Funniest Movie Ever Made - PHOBE (1 Viewer)

I want to share with the FFA, one of the most unintentionally amazing films of my lifetime. PHOBE

No, it hasn't won any awards.... no, it isn't known to anyone outside the Niagara Region. Until now.

Described as the Following:

Phobe is a nail biting high adrenaline thriller about Sgt. Gregory Dapp tracking an alien creature who has escaped to earth.

If The Terminator, Predator, Star Wars, and Ghostbusters had a baby, it would be named Phobe: The Xenophobic Experiments.

--------------------------------------------

The movie was on local television here in Niagara when I was about 10-12yrs old, if memory serves me correct. At which point, it vanished from earth... VCRs were still kicking around, but noone in their right mind thought to record this gem.

Amazingly, yesterday.... It magically appeared on YouTube, in all it's glory.

At a little over an hour, it is literally worth every single minute (esp under the influence of something)... Cult status activated.

20 years later, and I am still fixated and blown away at this film.... How something so archaically brutal can be so mesmerizing is beyond words.

Enjoy. And yes, this is real.

:tfp:

Can not turn it off, even though it is horrible.

Had to be done in Canada, right?

Yup, Niagara in Canada... Command Center is Brock University Tower...

Everything done in and around St Catharines/Welland area.

I am not kidding... this movie is brilliant. and sooooooooooo sos os so so bad.

The scene 6+min in when he takes off, is the greatest scene in history... LOL... the airport hangar makes me cry

wait until the battle scenes w the phobe. you'll rewatch this 2-3 times. I promise

The intro credits looks like the game screen from Activision's classic space battle game Star Master on Atari 2600

I have a feeling a few Video Game screens were used in this film - the airport hangar in the 6th minute HAS to be from somewhere... I mean.... no human director/producer uses that if they have a shred of dignity

the dance scene perfectly sums up the absurd awesomeness of this film.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Please guys... I beg you to watch this tonite when you get the kids tucked in to bed and the wife is reading her Novella...

Grab a cold 1 or 2 and just.... enjoy art.

16:55-17:12 - awesome art shot in the sunglasses! Great audio there, too. And those cheerleaders... oof, the 80s in Canada.

Tick you're mirroring my every emotion.

Wait til the real battle happens. And the hot babes get involved hahahha

Oh, and the dance scene. CLASSIC

21:00 IMPORTANT SWEATER DONNING SCENE! DO NOT MISS!

You've only got an hour of content, way to use it wisely.

I want to make fun of Dapp's sunglasses, but I could see myself thinking those were cool in the 80s :-(

IMDB letting me down - wanted to see what other movies cheerleader mom had been in.

you got beef with the Bret Hart's?

32:09 transitioning from Predator to Terminator scene - good call in your description.

What year did this come out? Can we accuse Schwarzenegger movies of ripping it off?

A few of us have been trying to figure this out.

We're going to make a call to Cogeco, who was then Maclean Hunter Cable, to see if they have this info. Early 90s almost certainly. Mid 90s latest.

Money on early 90s

Oh, balls - hits too close to home, this was me at high school dances :-( I hope Push It comes on soon so they can stop slow-dancing.

"wanna dance?"

"sure... why not?"

oh, I dunno.... THE FATE OF THE WORLD RESTS ON YOUR DAMN SHOULDEERS!!!

This movie is tarnishing Terminator for me - it makes me realize how cheesy the running music is in that movie.

It's like the director and writer tried to make an underlying love theme, but has no idea what love is.

39:30 I think he had a stroke. I mean the guy with the cue cards.

This movie is your big break - memorize your lines!

####### dying here.

Rewatching right where you are. Listening to Dap explain his planet and the black market Phobes...

Hes trying. Sooooo hard

Wait... what happened there? I thought he had a lightsaber. Where did it go? Or was it a screwup in the film?

Uh oh - there's a squashed terminator somewhere in that factory, watch out. Hopefully the prox sensor from Aliens will help him avoid it.

I didn't expect Phobe to look like that.

Whoa, awesome genie lamp suck-in effect. Definitely some Atari involved here.
