There seems to be a rush this season to identify teams as elite or busts. It is only week 2 and there is plenty of football to be played.

That said, the Jags are playing as well as anyone in the NFL right now.

:goodposting: Good thing the NFL isn't like college football. The "voters" perceptions don't matter. You have 16 games to win more than three other teams (plus wildcard possibilities). No polls, no computers. Just win on the field. The label is secondary.

Jaquars are a very good football team does that equal elite not yet . Even if they beat the colts this week

It would be premature to call them elite. Division titles and playoff wins do that right.

I don't know if I'd label them as a legit Super Bowl contender, but I can guarantee you that there isn't a team in the league that wants any part of them in the playoffs.

Absolutly yes. If there is one trade mark in elite teams it is that they protect their home turf. The Jags beat a good team (Dallas, although I think they are overrated this year) and the defending Super Bowl champs at home.

I'm not so sure dallas is overrated. They played better D than the stat line would show and IF bledsoe can get it together the offense should be dangerous. There were two times Owens was wide open and bledsoe just missed him. With some more practice time maybe he completes one or both of those passes and it's a different game. I was glad Jacksonville won that game, but in no way felt that I wanted to play them again.

2005 AFC Wildcard Game: Jacksonville Jaguars 3, New England Patriots 28
Nuff said.
I posted that score because some were questioning whether or not JAX had ever been to the playoffs. As a NE fan, I know:#1. I was surprised NE won that game so convincingly#2. JAX has been a physically tough team for a few years now. NE has had success against them, but for a while now, JAX has been one of those teams that you don't want to play because they're big, mean, and nasty. They just punish you.and finally, I believe that toughness, grittiness, meanness, and physicallity is often overlooked and under rated. When the other team lined up across from you is just gonna' plain hammer you on every play, it takes it's toll. You may have the better skill players. You may have speed and agility. You may have a great game plan. But if you're getting hit and physically punished every play, it won't matter. The Jags play this punishing type of football. And though their offense isn't yet elite, it has matured and there are some weapons there that have to be respected.
