Bug spray might have been the worst thing to use: with a slippery grip, Chamberlain uncorked a wild pitch that allowed the Indians to tie the game 1-1 in the eighth. Cleveland went on to win the game in the 11th.

The Yankees lost that best-of-five series in four games, and manager Joe Torre always regretted not stalling or pulling his club off the field as Chamberlain was engulfed by the insects...
